EasyJet adquiere slots Aeropuertos Gatwick y Bristol de Thomas Cook
La aerolínea británica low cost EasyJet ha comprado los slots o derechos de despegue y aterrizaje de la aerolínea en bancarrota Thomas Cook en los aeropuertos británicos de Gatwick y Bristol por valor de ₤ 36 millones de libras (€ 41,7 millones de euros). El Servicio de Insolvencia del Reino Unido, encargado de gestionar la liquidación de 
Thomas Cook, ha vendido a EasyJet los slots. Dicho servicio ha administrado la quiebra técnica el pasado Septiembre 2019, dejando a 22.000 personas sin empleo, 9.000 de ellas en este país.
EasyJet ha adquirido doce slots para la temporada estival y ocho para la temporada invernal en el Aeropuerto Gatwick, Londres. Además, la compañía aérea ha adquirido derechos de vuelo por seis slots para verano y un slot adicional para invierno en el Aeropuerto Bristol.
EasyJet se impuso con esta compra a otros competidores como British Airways (BA), Whizz Air y Virgin, que también habían mostrado interés en hacerse con los slots de Thomas Cook en London/Gatwick.
Hays Travel
La agencia independiente de turismo Hays Travel informa un mes después que ha comprado las 555 oficinas del turoperador británico Thomas Cook PLC en el Reino Unido. Hays Travel, con sede en la localidad inglesa de Sunderland y con 190 oficinas en este país, ya contrató a 421 empleados que trabajaban para Thomas Cook y también ofreció empleo a la tripulación de la aerolínea Thomas Cook Airlines.
La quiebra de Thomas Cook, tras 178 años de historia, desembocó además en la suspensión de pagos de hasta 26 de sus empresas filiales y a nivel global, 600.000 personas resultaron afectadas por las compras y reservas efectuadas con esa firma.

The British low-cost airline EasyJet has bought the slots or take-off and landing rights of the Thomas Cook bankruptcy airline at the British airports of Gatwick and Bristol worth ₤ 36 million pounds (€ 41.7 million euros). The Insolvency Service of the United Kingdom, in charge of managing the liquidation of Thomas Cook, has sold the slots to EasyJet. This service has managed technical bankruptcy last September 2019, leaving 22,000 people unemployed, 9,000 of them in this country.
EasyJet has acquired twelve slots for the summer season and eight for the winter season at Gatwick Airport, London. In addition, the airline has acquired flight rights for six summer slots and an additional winter slot at Bristol Airport.
EasyJet won with this purchase other competitors such as British Airways (BA), Whizz Air and Virgin, who had also shown interest in getting the Thomas Cook slots in London/Gatwick.
Hays Travel
The independent tourism agency Hays Travel reports a month later that it has bought the 555 offices of British tour operator Thomasa Cook PLC in the United Kingdom. Hays Travel, based in the English town of Sunderland and with 190 offices in this country, already hired 421 employees who worked for Thomas Cook and also offered employment to the crew of the Thomas Cook Airlines airline.
