La aerolínea regional mexicana Mayair
Mayair, la aerolínea comercial más importante del Estado de Quintana Roo, en la República de México. La línea aérea buscará consolidar las tres rutas regionales que tienen mayor demanda por carretera: Cancún-Mérida, Cancún-Cozumel y Cancún-Chetumal, según ha informado Jorge Luis Téllez Vignet, Director de Comercialización de la compañía. Mayair espera alcanzar un factor de ocupación correspondiente al 60% como así también ampliar la ruta Mérida-Villahermosa, hasta el puerto de Veracruz.
Nuevo grupo inversor
Estos cambios han sido impulsados por la llegada de un nuevo grupo de inversionistas a la aerolínea “para llevarla al nivel en el que merece estar, pues es la única compañía de su tipo en Quintana Roo que cubre las rutas regionales que tienen mayor demanda vía carretera”, comenta el directivo. La nueva sociedad está liderada por Pablo González Ulloa, ex Presidente de Líneas Aéreas Azteca.
Mayair es la única aerolínea que cubre las rutas aéreas regionales, lo que convierte actualmente a la compañía en el medio de transporte más económico, hablando desde el punto de vista del confort. “Ajustamos tarifas y ofrecemos mucha mayor calidad que nuestra competencia; sales de la base fija de operaciones, te olvidas de estar dos o tres horas antes; de filas y demás, pues llegas al aeropuerto 40 minutos antes. Y esta es otra de las ventajas: no cobramos la primera maleta y puedes llevar a bordo algo”, subraya el directivo.
La base de operaciones de Mayair es Cancún, pero debido a que ningún aeropuerto de la zona tiene hangares para la pernocta de aeronaves, salvo el de Cozumel, la línea aérea utiliza el Aeropuerto de Mérida en la capital del Estado de Yucatán para su malla de red de servicios.
La aerolínea ofrece una mezcla entre placer, ocio y negocios, por lo que aspira a tener pasajeros tanto de circuito turístico, como europeos, asiáticos y nacionales. Mayair apunta al sector de negocios, pues los pasajeros ahorrarán más tiempo y gastos que transitando por carretera.

New investment group
These changes have been driven by the arrival of a new group of investors to the airline “to take it to the level it deserves to be, as it is the only company of its kind in Quintana Roo that covers the regional routes that have the highest demand via road ”, says the manager. The new company is led by Pablo González Ulloa, former President of Líneas Aéreas Azteca.
Mayair is the only airline that covers regional air routes, which currently makes the company the most economical means of transport, speaking from the point of view of comfort. “We adjust rates and offer much higher quality than our competitors; you leave the fixed base of operations, you forget to be two or three hours before; of rows and so on, as you arrive at the airport 40 minutes before. And this is another advantage: we do not charge the first bag and you can take something on board”, says the manager.
Mayair’s base of operations is Cancun, but because no airport in the area has hangars for the overnight stay of aircraft, except for Cozumel, the airline uses the Merida Airport in the capital of the State of Yucatan for its mesh of network services.
The airline offers a mix between pleasure, leisure, and business, so it aspires to have passengers from both the tourist circuit, as European, Asian and national. Mayair aims at the business sector, as passengers will save more time and expenses than traveling by road.
