FAA reduce temporalmente requisitos mínimos vuelo aerolíneas
La Administración Federal de Aviación (FAA) anunció la semana pasada que están reduciendo temporalmente los requisitos mínimos de vuelo para las aerolíneas en aeropuertos altamente congestionados en la ciudad de Nueva York y Washington DC. La agencia cita la escasez de personal de los controladores de tráfico aéreo. La FAA dijo que la decisión dará a las aerolíneas “la capacidad de reducir las operaciones durante el período pico de viajes de verano, que probablemente se verán exacerbados por los efectos de la escasez de personal del controlador de tráfico aéreo”.
La FAA hizo esta excepción junto con un aumento temporal en las franjas horarias de vuelo en estos aeropuertos ocupados en un 10%, lo que permite que los centros de viajes se adapten a sus meses de primavera y verano aún más ocupados. Este aumento en las franjas horarias de vuelo hace que las aerolíneas con poco personal corran el riesgo de no llenarlas. La regulación actual de la FAA dice que las aerolíneas pueden perder sus franjas horarias en aeropuertos congestionados si no las usan al menos el 80% del tiempo.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced last week that they are temporarily reducing the minimum flight requirements for airlines in highly congested airports in New York City and Washington DC. The agency cites the shortage of personnel from air traffic controllers. FAA said the decision will give the airlines “the ability to reduce operations during the summer travel peak period, which will probably be exacerbated by the effects of the shortage of air traffic controller personnel”.
The FAA made this exception along with a temporary increase in the flight time strips in these airports occupied by 10%, which allows travel centers to adapt to their spring and summer months even more busy. This increase in flight time slots causes airlines with little personnel to run the risk of not filling them. The current FAA regulation says that airlines can lose their time stripes in congested airports if they do not use them at least 80% of the time.
