Gobierno de Ghana estudia startup público-privada en 2023
El Gobierno de la República de Ghana lanzará una nueva aerolínea nacional en algún momento del tercer trimestre de 2023. Ghana Airlines será el tercer intento del país de una aerolínea nacional después del colapso de Ghana Airways en 2004 y Ghana International Airlines en 2010. La nueva aerolínea será una empresa conjunta entre Ashanti Airlines, con sede en Accra, Zotus Group, con sede en el Reino Unido, y el Gobierno de Ghana. Ashanti Airlines se encargará de las licencias y la certificación, mientras que Zotus Group será el socio financiero y operativo.
Se espera que Ghana Airlines se lance en los próximos meses después de recibir recientemente la aprobación final para operar de la Autoridad de Aviación Civil de Ghana (GCAA). Según el Ministerio de Transporte a cargo de Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, expresó: “[La aerolínea] ha cumplido con todos los requisitos y pronto lanzarán su logotipo. Mi información de ellos es que a finales de mayo, comenzarán a vender su boleto y para Junio/Julio veremos a Ghana Airlines volando en el cielo”.
La nueva aerolínea comenzará con vuelos domésticos y eventualmente se expandirá a vuelos internacionales a destinos en Europa, América del Norte, Asia y otras partes de África. Se espera que la flota incluya varios Boeing 787 Dreamliners que darán servicio a las rutas más largas. Ghana Airlines fue elegido como el nombre porque el gobierno creía que reflejaría la cultura ghanesa y presentaría una buena imagen del país a los viajeros internacionales.
Ghana no ha tenido su propia aerolínea nacional durante más de una década después de dos intentos anteriores. The Government of the Republic of Ghana will launch a new national airline at some time in the third quarter of 2023. Ghana Airlines will be the third attempt in the country of a national airline after the collapse of Ghana Airways in 2004 and Ghana International Airlines in 2010. The new Airline will be a joint business between Ashanti Airlines, based in ACCRA, Zotus Group, based in the United Kingdom, and the Ghana government. Ashanti Airlines will be in charge of licenses and certification, while Zotus Group will be the financial and operational partner.
Ghana Airlines is expected to be launched in the coming months after recently receiving the final approval to operate from the Ghana Civil Aviation Administration (GCAA). According to the Ministry of Transportation by Kwaku ofori Asamah, he said: “[The airline] has met all the requirements and will soon launch their logo. My information from them is that at the end of May, they will begin selling their ticket and for June/July we will see Ghana Airlines flying in the sky”.
The new airline will begin with domestic flights and will eventually expand to international flights to destinations in Europe, North America, Asia and other parts of Africa. The fleet is expected to include several Boeing 787 Dreamliners that will serve the longest routes. Ghana Airlines was chosen as the name because the government believed that it would reflect the Ghanaian culture and present a good image of the country to international travelers.
Ghana has not had its own national airline for more than a decade after two previous attempts. The first airline, Ghana Airways, was launched in 1958 after the country became independent from the United Kingdom. He operated flights to national and international destinations until it closed in 2005 due to high debt and lack of foreign investment. The second airline, Ghana International Airlines, closed the operations of its only plane leased in 2010. The Ghanaian government expects Ghana Airlines to succeed and provide an alternative to fly in international airlines when people visit Ghana.
