IndiGo Airlines está en conversaciones para adquirir hasta veinte aviones de fuselaje ancho. Según informes, la aerolínea quiere usar los aviones para hacer crecer su red internacional. Indian airline would enter long journey market
Indigo Airlines is in conversations to acquire up to twenty wide fuselage aircraft. According to reports, the airline wants to use airplanes to grow its international network. To date, apart from some planes leased with short term crew, Indigo Airlines has only used narrow fuselage aircraft.
The company has intensions to buy around fifteen to twenty wide fuselage aircraft. Conversations with Airbus and Boeing have been underway for twelve months and a decision and an order is expected by the end of 2023.
Width fuselage aircraft are attractive to the Indian LCC not only because they offer additional reach, but because they can be delivered faster than narrow bodies. The airline has 483 requested aircraft in Airbus, all aircraft of the A320neo and A321neo family. In the mixture are the A321-200NY (XLR) that can fly to Western Europe. However, the airline will not receive the first of them until 2025.
Indigo currently operates 309 airplanes, including a Boeing 777-300ER (1) leased with a traffic of Turkish Airlines used specifically on routes to the Istanbul Airport, and thirty-nine ATR72-600 (39) used on thin regional routes.
