Derek Kerr se retirará de American Eagle

American Airlines Group Inc. anunció el Viernes 05/05 que Derek Kerr, Vicepresidente de American Eagle y Asesor estratégico de American Airlines, se retirará de la aerolínea el 30 de Septiembre de 2023. Derek Kerr renunció como CFO a fines de 2022 después de veinte años en el cargo como parte de un proceso de sucesión planificado. Devon May fue nombrado sucesor como Director Financiero y asumió el cargo el 1 de Enero de 2023. Derek Kerr to retire from American Eagle

American Airlines Group Inc. announced on Friday 05/05 that Derek Kerr, Vice President of American Eagle and Strategic Advisor to American Airlines, will retire from the airline on September 30, 2023. Derek Kerr stepped down as CFO at the end of 2022 after twenty years in the role as part of a planned succession process. Devon May was named successor as Chief Financial Officer, assuming the role on January 1, 2023. Heather Garboden was named Senior Vice President, Regionals and Cargo in March 2023 and will continue to lead American’s regional and cargo work going forward. “Derek Kerr is one of the greatest and most successful executives in the history of the airline business. I am proud to call him a friend, and American is very well positioned for the future because of his leadership. We wish him the best as he begins his retirement”, said American CEO Robert Isom.

In his most recent role as Vice President, American Eagle President and Strategic Advisor, Derek Kerr has led American’s regional and cargo teams and served as the company’s strategic advisor. As President of American Eagle, he has been responsible for nearly half of American’s daily departures with oversight of the airline’s regional operations. “I am incredibly proud of all that we accomplished during my time at American, US Airways and America West. It has been a great honor to work alongside so many wonderful people over the past three decades, and I consider myself incredibly lucky for the countless memories and friends we have made. I’ve done along the way. I’m confident that Robert, Devon and the rest of the American Airlines team will continue to chart a profitable path for American and build an airline that will thrive forever”, said Derek Kerr.

Derek Kerr served as CFO of America West Airlines, US Airways and American Airlines from 2002 to 2022. He was instrumental in the mergers of America West and US Airways in 2005 and US Airways and American Airlines in 2013. His team raised US$ 25 billion to keep American on solid footing during the global pandemic.

Derek Kerr joined America West in 1996 and served in a variety of finance and planning roles before being named chief financial officer in 2002. He was named US Airways Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2005 and was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Financial in 2009. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Comerica Incorporated, the Board of Directors of the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics, the Advisory Board of the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, the Board of Directors of the Cotton Bowl, and is a member of the Dallas Stars Ownership Advisory Group. He earned a Bachelor of Science in aeronautical engineering and an MBA in finance from the University of Michigan.
