Compensación por averías motores flota E195-E2

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines ha informado que está ampliando significativamente su contrato de arrendamiento con tripulación con German Airways para ampliar las capacidades de flota en reemplazo de los E195-E2 por averías en los motores, lo que ha obligado a poner en tierra. Actualmente, dos Embraer E190-E1 de los alemanes vuelan para Cityhopper, pero ese número se ampliará a cinco en los próximos meses y el acuerdo también se extenderá hasta el próximo invierno. De esta manera, KLM puede compensar la pérdida de capacidad causada por una gran parte de su propia flota Embraer E195-E2 que está en tierra con problemas de motor.

A principios de esta semana, KLM anunció que mantendría algunos de sus propios Embraer E190 remanufacturados. En ese momento, la compañía también indicó que haría un mayor uso de los arrendamientos con tripulación, y ahora está claro cómo se implementará esto en la práctica. “Debido a dificultades técnicas, KLM Cityhopper está luchando para desplegar completamente el E2. KLM Cityhopper está en conversaciones con Embraer y el fabricante de motores Pratt & Whitney para encontrar una solución a estos problemas, que no tienen ningún efecto en la seguridad del vuelo”, informó KLM. El CEO Marjan Rintel voló recientemente a Brasil para discutir el tema con Embraer.

Tanto para Embraer como para KLM, los problemas con los motores Pratt & Whitney de los E2 han resultado un problema. Durante meses, una gran parte de los quince E195-E2 (15) han estado en tierra. KLM tiene diez más en orden. Este tipo es mucho más económico y puede transportar más pasajeros que los Embraer de primera generación E1 más antiguos de Cityhopper, y debería haberse convertido en el avión más importante de la flota de Cityhopper.

KLM está haciendo todo lo posible para limitar las molestias a los pasajeros. La aerolínea dice que no puede evitar completamente las cancelaciones, pero quiere hacerlo con mucha anticipación para que los viajeros puedan volver a reservar. Además, la pérdida de capacidad se compensará volando más tiempo con aviones más antiguos y ampliando el acuerdo con German Airways.

Los dos E190-E1 que KLM arrienda a German Airways tienen su sede en Düsseldorf y Stuttgart y desde allí operan vuelos a Schiphol y vía Schiphol a otros destinos. Un tercer avión se agregará en Junio 2023, con base en Basilea, Suiza. Dos aviones más seguirán en Julio 2023, desde Aalborg y Frankfurt. Esto significa que cinco Embraer E190 de German Airways pronto volarán para los servicios de KLM Airlines.

Earlier this week, KLM announced that it would maintain some of its own E190 remanufactured. At that time, the company also indicated that it would make greater use of crew leases, and now it is clear how this will be implemented in practice. “Due to technical difficulties, KLM Cityhopper is fighting to completely deploy the E2. KLM Cityhopper is in conversations with Embraer and the Motor manufacturer Pratt & Whitney to find a solution to these problems, which have no effect on flight safety”, KLM CEO Marjan Rintel reporter recently flew to Brazil to discuss the issue with Embraer.

For both Embraer and KLM, problems with the Pratt & Whitney engines of the E2 have resulted in a problem. For months, a large part of the fifteen E195-E2 (15) has been on land. KLM has ten more in order. This type is much cheaper and can transport more passengers than the oldest generation E1 of Cityhopper, and should have become the most important plane of the Cityhopper fleet.

KLM is doing everything possible to limit the inconvenience to passengers. The airline says that cancellations cannot completely avoid, but wants to do it very much so that travelers can reserve again. In addition, the loss of capacity will be compensated by flying more time with older airplanes and expanding the agreement with German Airways.

The two E190-E1s that KLM leases from German Airways headquarters in Düsseldorf and Stuttgart and from there operate flights to Schiphol and via Schiphol to other destinations. A third plane will be added in June 2023, based in Basel, Switzerland. Two more planes will continue in July 2023, from Aalborg and Frankfurt. This means that Five Embraer E190 of German Airways will soon fly for the KLM Airlines services.

KLM hopes that the problems with fleet E2 will not be solved at the moment and, therefore, will also rent German airplanes next winter season. According to German Airways, there is even the intention of continuing with the cooperation towards the summer of 2024.
