Embraer E190-E2 demuestra aterrizaje corto en Corea del Sur
Embraer realizó un vuelo de demostración con un E190-E2 desde Seúl al Aeropuerto de Pohang, en Corea del Sur, el Lunes 15/05. La aeronave con más de 80 pasajeros realizó un aterrizaje simulado a una distancia de apenas 1.066 metros de pista, para demostrar su capacidad para operar en aeropuertos restringidos. La presentación del avión brasileño permitirá demostrar su capacidad para operar en el futuro aeropuerto de la isla de Ulleungdo localizada a 120 km de la costa surcoreana.
La Isla Ulleundgdo con una superficie total de 73 km no cuenta actualmente con aeropuerto, dependiendo del transporte marítimo para acceder a ella. El Gobierno, sin embargo, ha comenzado la construcción del Aeropuerto de Ulleungdo, que debería estar listo en 2025, pero las limitaciones de la pista en cuanto a longitud de apenas 1.200 metros de largo permitirá operaciones reducidas.
El E190-E2 incluso sobrevoló la isla antes de aterrizar en Pohang, para demostrar también su alcance, con combustible hasta el regreso a Seúl. Al principio, el plan es que solo los aviones turbohélice con capacidad para hasta 50 pasajeros operen en el aeropuerto, pero hay estudios para ampliar este límite a 80 asientos, de ahí que Embraer demostrara el E190-E2 con una capacidad similar.
Embraer también firmó un Memorando de Entendimiento (MoU) con el Gobierno de la Provincia de Gyeongsangbuk-do para promover acciones en el segmento de aviación con la provincia más grande del país.

Embraer carried out a demonstration flight with an E190-E2 from Seoul to Pohang Airport, in South Korea, on Monday 05/15. The aircraft with more than 80 passengers made a simulated landing at a distance of just 1,066 meters from the runway, to demonstrate its ability to operate in restricted airports. The presentation of the Brazilian aircraft will demonstrate its ability to operate at the future airport on the island of Ulleungdo located 120 km from the South Korean coast.
Ulleundgdo Island with a total area of 73 km does not currently have an airport, depending on maritime transport to access it. The Government, however, has started construction on Ulleungdo Airport, which should be ready in 2025, but runway length limitations of just 1,200 meters long will allow reduced operations.
The E190-E2 even flew over the island before landing in Pohang, to also demonstrate its range, fueled until the return to Seoul. At first, the plan is for only turboprop aircraft with a capacity of up to 50 passengers to operate at the airport, but there are studies to extend this limit to 80 seats, hence Embraer demonstrated the E190-E2 with a similar capacity.
Embraer also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government to promote actions in the aviation segment with the country’s largest province.
