COMAC C919 inicia primer vuelo comercial

El 28 de Mayo de 2023 realizó el primer servicio comercial del COMAC C919 con la aerolínea China Eastern Airlines operando el vuelo MU9191 entre Shanghai-Hongqiao (SHA) y el Aeropuerto Internacional de Beijing Capital (PEK) con 130 pasajeros a bordo. A su llegada al aeropuerto de la capital china, el C919 de China Eastern fue recibido con el tradicional saludo de cañón de agua para conmemorar la ocasión. Este C919 es la respuesta de China a las populares y ubicuas familias de aviones Boeing 737 y Airbus A320, que han sido el caballo de batalla de la industria mundial de aviones a lo largo de las últimas décadas.

El vuelo MU9191 partió de Shanghai a las 10:33 am hora local y aterrizó en Beijing a las 12:31 am. El servicio, que según los informes tenía unos 130 pasajeros a bordo, recibió un saludo de agua de la brigada de bomberos. A las 14:54, MU9192 regresó a Shanghai nuevamente. El avión con registro B-919A está programado para el servicio a Chengdu el Lunes 29/05.

El primer servicio sigue a una serie prolongada de vuelos de verificación antes de la entrada en servicio. China Eastern tuvo que demostrar que el avión durante 100 horas de vuelo. Esto la vio operar en numerosas rutas en China. La semana pasada, B-919A visitó Chengdu, Nanjing, Taiyuan, Huai’an y Beijing. Durante estos vuelos de verificación, la aeronave se encontró con algunos problemas técnicos que causaron una interrupción del programa. La propia flota de pruebas de COMAC ha continuado volando en los últimos meses. El avión B-001C estuvo activo en marzo y abril en tres vuelos desde Shanghai y el B-001D hizo cuatro vuelos desde Xian en abril y mayo. B-001E ha estado activo en la segunda quincena de mayo, con la mayoría de los vuelos alrededor de Xian y Kunming. B-001F y B-001G reanudaron sus vuelos la semana pasada desde Shanghai, y han realizado sus últimos vuelos a finales de marzo.

El 28 de Abril de 2023, HNA Group anunció un pedido en firme de sesenta C919, con treinta aviones cada uno para sus filiales Urumqi Air y Suparna Air. El acuerdo marco también incluye la intención de comprar cuarenta ARJ21-700 (40), sin informar la fecha de entregas.

El vuelo del Domingo 28/05 es la culminación de quince años de desarrollo. El programa C919 se lanzó oficialmente en 2008 y el primer vuelo tuvo lugar en 2017. COMAC tiene una cartera de 1.140 pedidos, opciones y derechos de compra. Los pedidos en firme son alrededor de entre 580 a 600 unidades principalmente de aerolíneas chinas y compañías de leasing.

COMAC C919 starts first commercial flight

On May 28, 2023, it carried out the first commercial service of the COMAC C919 with China Eastern Airlines operating flight MU9191 between Shanghai-Hongqiao (SHA) and Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) with 130 passengers on board. Upon arrival at the airport in the Chinese capital, China Eastern’s C919 was greeted with the traditional water cannon salute to mark the occasion. This C919 is China’s answer to the popular and ubiquitous Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 families of aircraft, which have been the workhorse of the global aircraft industry for decades.

Flight MU9191 left Shanghai at 10:33 a.m. local time and landed in Beijing at 12:31 a.m. The service, which reportedly had some 130 passengers on board, received a water salute from the fire brigade. At 14:54, MU9192 returned to Shanghai again. The aircraft with registration B-919A is scheduled for service to Chengdu on Monday 29/05.

The first service follows a protracted series of verification flights prior to entry into service. China Eastern had to demonstrate that the aircraft for 100 flight hours. This saw it operate on numerous routes in China. Last week, B-919A visited Chengdu, Nanjing, Taiyuan, Huai’an and Beijing. During these verification flights, the aircraft encountered some technical problems that caused a program interruption. The aircraft was flown back to the COMAC factory for overhauls and repairs but appears to have operated without a problem ever since. The second China Eastern aircraft began flight tests. The airline expects to receive four more C919s during the year. The second aircraft with factory registration B-001K made its maiden flight on May 8, 2023, and carried out two more test flights on May 10 and 18, 2023.

COMAC’s own test fleet has continued to fly in recent months. The B-001C aircraft was active in March and April on three flights from Shanghai, and the B-001D made four flights from Xian in April and May. B-001E has been active in the second half of May, with most of the flights around Xian and Kunming. B-001F and B-001G resumed their flights last week from Shanghai, and have made their last flights at the end of March.

On April 28, 2023, HNA Group announced a firm order for sixty C919s, with thirty aircraft each, for its subsidiaries Urumqi Air and Suparna Air. The framework agreement also includes the intention to purchase forty ARJ21-700 (40), without disclosing the delivery date.

The flight on Sunday 05/28 is the culmination of fifteen years of development. The C919 program was officially launched in 2008 and the first flight took place in 2017. COMAC has a backlog of 1,140 orders, options, and purchase rights. Firm orders are around 580 to 600 units mainly from Chinese airlines and leasing companies.
