Nueva ruta enlazará Santiago y Medellín
La aerolínea dominicana de bajo costo Arajet informó que pondrá en operación, el próximo 17 de Julio de 2023 una nueva ruta Santiago/STI—Medellín/MDE. La capital antioqueña se conectará con la ciudad de Santiago, en el país caribeño. La nueva ruta desde Santiago a Medellín tendrá dos frecuencias semanales (2Frq/S) los días Lunes y Jueves en aeronave de última generación Boeing 737-8 MAX.
El Ministro de Turismo dominicano, David Collado, y el fundador y Director Ejecutivo de la aerolínea, Víctor Pacheco Méndez, ofrecieron la información en un comunicado difundido por el organismo estatal. El ejecutivo explicó que Arajet operará dos frecuencias semanales a Medellín que permitirán estrechar los lazos entre ambas ciudades y fortalecer el intercambio turístico, económico y comercial.
“Arajet nació siendo la aerolínea con la flota de aviones más respetuosa del medio ambiente, con cinco aviones nuevos y con cinco aviones que se agregarán en 2023 para terminar el año con una flotilla de diez aviones con tecnología de última generación, con una eficiencia que les permite ahorrar un 14% en combustible e impactar un 40 % menos en polución sónica”, dijo Pacheco Méndez.
La nueva ruta fue un compromiso que asumió su compañía en el marco de la feria Vitrina Turística colombiana. “Desde el Ministerio de Turismo estamos comprometidos con el desarrollo turístico de todos los rincones del país, por eso en la feria de organiza la Asociación Colombiana de Agencias de Viajes y Turismo nos comprometimos a apoyar esta nueva ruta de Arajet”, dijo por su parte el Ministro David Collado.
Arajet es la primera aerolínea de bajo costo en la región del Caribe e inició operaciones en Septiembre de 2022 desde su base en el Aeropuerto Internacional Las Américas Santo Domingo en la República Dominicana.

The low-cost Dominican airline Arajet reported that it will put into operation, on July 17, 2023, a new Santiago/STI-Medellín/MDE route. The capital of Antioquia will connect with the city of Santiago, in the Caribbean country. The new route from Santiago to Medellín will have two weekly frequencies (2Frq/S) on Mondays and Thursdays in the latest generation Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft.
The Dominican Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and the founder and Executive Director of the airline, Víctor Pacheco Méndez, offered the information in a statement released by the state agency. The executive explained that Arajet will operate two weekly frequencies to Medellín which will allow closer ties between both cities and strengthen tourist, economic and commercial exchange.
“Arajet was born as the airline with the most environmentally friendly aircraft fleet, with five new aircraft and with five aircraft to be added in 2023 to end the year with a fleet of ten aircraft with state-of-the-art technology, with an efficiency that allows them to save 14% in fuel and impact 40% less in sonic pollution”, said Pacheco Méndez.
The new route was a commitment that his company assumed within the framework of the Colombian Tourist Showcase fair. “From the Ministry of Tourism we are committed to the tourist development of all corners of the country, that is why at the fair organized by the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies we promised to support this new Arajet route”, he said for his part. Arajet is the first low-cost airline in the Caribbean region and began operations in September 2022 from its base at Las Américas Santo Domingo International Airport in the Dominican Republic.
