Celebra aniversario situándose entre mejores del mundo
Iberia Líneas Aéreas de España celebra el Jueves 29 de Junio de 2023 su 96º aniversarios posicionándose como la decimocuarta aerolínea más grande del mundo y la tercera más grande de Europa, según Skytrax. El acontecimiento coincide con el cambio en la presidencia de la compañía con el revelo de Javier Sánchez-Prieto por parte de Fernando Candela, el nuevo CEO y Presidente Ejecutivo de la compañía y se produce, además, después de que la aerolínea haya completado su recuperación, en un momento de solidez en cuanto a experiencia del cliente, operaciones y resultados financieros.
Según los premios World Airline Awards de Skytrax, Iberia se sitúa como la tercera mejor aerolínea de Europa y en el puesto 14º del ranking mundial, mejorando su posición en 11 lugares en comparación con la edición anterior. Estos premios, considerados los premios Óscar de la aviación, se basan en más de 20 millones de encuestas realizadas a viajeros de más de cien nacionalidades entre septiembre de 2022 y mayo de 2023.
Mejor Tripulación de Cabina
Este reconocimiento respalda el trabajo realizado por Iberia, que en 2022 fue nombrada la aerolínea más puntual de Europa según Cirium. Además, ha seguido renovando su flota con 13 aviones de última generación y ha implementado mejoras significativas en la experiencia de viaje de los clientes, como nuevos canales de comunicación, opciones de pago y mejoras en el servicio a bordo, incluyendo propuestas gastronómicas, entretenimiento a bordo y wifi gratuito en todos los aviones y cabinas.
En el ranking de Skytrax, Iberia también ha sido reconocida como la Mejor Tripulación de Cabina del Sur de Europa. Los tripulantes de cabina de la aerolínea estrenaron nuevos uniformes diseñados por Teresa Helbig y recibieron una formación orientada hacia una mayor orientación al cliente durante los meses de recuperación tras la crisis del COVID-19.
Líder en puntualidad
Iberia ha trabajado para lograr altos niveles de puntualidad, siendo la aerolínea más puntual de Europa en 2022 y la más puntual del mundo en dos ocasiones en los primeros seis meses de 2023, según Cirium. Además, ha obtenido beneficios significativos, con 382 millones de euros en 2022 y 66 millones de euros en el primer trimestre de 2023, lo que representa la mayor rentabilidad del grupo IAG en un trimestre en el que las aerolíneas suelen tener dificultades.
Según Brand Finance, Iberia también es la marca turística más valiosa de España, ubicándose en el puesto 22 del ranking general con un crecimiento del valor de la marca de cerca del 30% en el último año.
La paz social y la contratación de 2.415 nuevos empleados han sido factores clave en el éxito de Iberia. La aerolínea ha logrado acuerdos con todos sus colectivos y ha contratado personal para hacer frente al crecimiento durante la temporada de verano.

Celebrate anniversary by ranking among the best in the world
Iberia Líneas Aéreas de España celebrates its 96th anniversary on Thursday, June 29, 2023, positioning itself as the fourteenth largest airline in the world and the third largest in Europe, according to Skytrax. The event coincides with the change in the company’s presidency with the unveiling of Javier Sánchez-Prieto by Fernando Candela, the company’s new CEO, and Executive President, and also occurs after the airline has completed its recovery, at a time of strength in terms of customer experience, operations, and financial results.
According to the Skytrax World Airline Awards, Iberia ranks as the third-best airline in Europe and in 14th place in the world ranking, improving its position by 11 places compared to the previous edition. These awards considered the Oscars of aviation, are based on more than 20 million surveys conducted with travelers of more than one hundred nationalities between September 2022 and May 2023.
Best Cabin Crew
This recognition supports the work carried out by Iberia, which in 2022 was named the most punctual airline in Europe according to Cirium. In addition, it has continued to renew its fleet with 13 state-of-the-art aircraft and has implemented significant improvements in the customer travel experience, such as new communication channels, payment options, and improvements in on-board service, including gastronomic proposals, entertainment at on board, and free Wi-Fi in all aircraft and cabins.
In the Skytrax ranking, Iberia has also been recognized as the Best Cabin Crew in Southern Europe. The airline’s cabin crew debuted new uniforms designed by Teresa Helbig and received training geared towards greater customer focus during the months of recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.
Leader in punctuality
Iberia has worked to achieve high levels of punctuality, being the most punctual airline in Europe in 2022 and the most punctual airline in the world twice in the first six months of 2023, according to Cirium. In addition, it has made significant profits, with 382 million euros in 2022 and 66 million euros in the first quarter of 2023, which represents the highest profitability for the IAG group in a quarter in which airlines often struggle.
According to Brand Finance, Iberia is also the most valuable tourism brand in Spain, ranking 22nd in the general ranking with a brand value growth of close to 30% in the last year.
Social peace and the hiring of 2,415 new employees have been key factors in Iberia’s success. The airline has reached agreements with all its groups and has hired personnel to face the growth during the summer season.
