JetSMART partidaria de continuar en Aeroparque

Una aerolínea low cost se ha pronunciado respecto al conflictivo Aeropuerto de El Palomar (EPA) en la necesidad de no reabrirlo para las operaciones aerocomerciales. La aerolínea JetSMART Airlines Argentina ha expresado que actualmente no sería necesario la reapertura de la aeroestación localizada al Noroeste en el Gran Buenos Aires. El CEO Estuardo Ortíz dijo: “Habiendo experimentado la operación Aeroparque vemos que tiene un gran potencial de crecimiento, de eficiencia y definitivamente tiene una ubicación geográfica en la ciudad muy positiva”. En otras palabras sostuvo que sea cual fuere el resultado de las elecciones, piensan seguir volando en el Aeropuerto Buenos Aires/Jorge Newbery, y consideró innecesario volver a poner en funciones la aeroestación de El Palomar.

Tras el conflicto político generado por el primer aeropouerto low cost de Latinoamérica por el cierre de El Palomar, la compañía aérea reconoció que el lugar tenía grandes desafíos operativos. El comentario surge a raíz de las declaraciones de Horacio Rodríguez Larreta sobre reabrir el Palomar si era electo Presidente de Argentina.

JetSMART Airlines Argentina y Flybondi fueron las primeras aerolíneas low cost en el paísal iniciar sus operaciones en el Aeropuerto de El Palomar entre 2018 y 2020, hasta que tras una negociación con funcionarios de La Cámpora, acordaron mudar su operación primeramente al Aeropuerto de Ezeiza, y finalmente al Aeroparque de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, dejando atrás años de conflicto político, mientras que el Gobierno actual no ha cumplido con la promesa de incrementar el número de slots para las líneas aéreas low cost en Aeroparque.

La “Revolución de los Aviones” en el Gobierno de Mauricio Macri había estimulado las políticas aéreas en el país, mientras que las dificultades económicas y posteriormente el cambio de Gobierno eclipsaron a la aviación comercial de Argentina. JetSMART Argentina sostiene que concentrar las operaciones en Aeroparque es mucho más positiva y que no figura en los planes dejar la aeroestación metropolitana: “Creo que lo importante ahí es tener una conversación con quien sea que gane las elecciones. Es difícil pensar que Buenos Aires necesita tres aeropuertos”.

Precios Justos
Aerolíneas Argentinas, Flybondi, JetSMART Airlines Argentina y Andes Líneas Aéreas se sumaron la semana pasada al programa Precios Justos que le pone un tope mensual del 4% a los aumentos de precios. Así lo anunció el Ministro de Economía, Sergio Massa, y dijo que “se incorporan al programa con un sendero de precios del 4% mensual, para que más argentinos y argentinas puedan viajar por el país desde el 1 de Agosto hasta el 30 de Noviembre”. Además habrá un descuento de 15% para jubilados en las tarifas aéreas.

Al respecto, Ortiz reconoce que “no era algo que tuviéramos en la agenda, siempre hemos sido partidarios de que sea el mercado el que limite los precios a nivel de competencia, oferta y demanda. Entendemos el contexto y nos adherimos al plan, estamos en este compromiso por estos meses y esperamos que los costos que son controlables también tengan coherencia con ese 4% de tope a los incrementos a los que nos comprometimos”.

También pusieron en la balanza que es por un período corto de tiempo y cuando venza en cuatro meses, habrá un nuevo presidente y se verá que pasará con el programa. “Es un programa de corto plazo y lo entendemos así. Estoy seguro de que no va a ser un tema permanente sino puntual, por parte de un gobierno que aplicó un programa como el PreViaje, que ha sido muy positivo”, destacó Estuardo Ortiz.

Alianza estratégica
JetSMART también informó que llegaron a un acuerdo con American Airlines para poder vender ticket interlínea donde se pueda iniciar con un tramo de JetSMART hasta Ezeiza y de ahí embarcar en un vuelo de American Airlines.

“Logramos desarrollar una alianza bien particular, única en el mundo, que consiste en enlazar una red de rutas ultra low cost como la de JetSmart con una línea full service mundial como es American. Estuvimos desarrollando tecnologías y las pusimos a funcionar en Chile desde Junio, en un proceso paso a paso, primero con cuatro destinos y ya llegamos a ocho. Vamos a ir expandiendo el número de combinaciones y ofertas en Chile, luego en Perú y por último en Argentina. Es un proceso que toma sus pasos, pero nos permite anticipar que en Argentina va a haber la posibilidad de que los pasajeros compren un código compartido que les permita, por ejemplo, volar de Bariloche a Buenos Aires, y luego conectar un vuelo de American Airlines hacia Miami y luego hacia Chicago que espera que ese tipo de operaciones esté disponible antes de que termine el año”, concluyó el CEO de JetSMART Airlines.

El Palomar Airport “unnecessary”

A low-cost airline has ruled on the conflictive El Palomar Airport (EPA) on the need not to reopen it for commercial air operations. The airline JetSMART Airlines Argentina has stated that it would not currently be necessary to reopen the air station located to the Northwest in Greater Buenos Aires. JetSMART Airlines Argentina and Flybondi were the first low-cost airlines in the country to start their operations at El Palomar Airport between 2018 and 2020, after a negotiation with La Cámpora officials, they agreed to move their operations first to Ezeiza Airport, and finally to the Aeroparque of the City of Buenos Aires, leaving behind years of political conflict, while the current Government has not fulfilled the promise to increase the number of slots for low-cost airlines in Aeroparque.

The “Airplane Revolution” in the Government of Mauricio Macri stimulated the air policies in the country, while the economic difficulties and later the change of Government eclipsed the commercial aviation of Argentina.

JetSMART Argentina maintains that concentrating operations in Aeroparque is much more positive and that it is not in the plans to leave the metropolitan airport: “I think the important thing there is to have a conversation with whoever wins the elections. It is difficult to think that Buenos Aires needs three airports”.

Fair Prices
Aerolíneas Argentinas, Flybondi, JetSMART Airlines Argentina, and Andes Líneas Aéreas joined the Fair Prices program last week, which sets a monthly cap of 4% on price increases. This was announced by the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, who said that “they are joining the program with a price path of 4% per month, so that more Argentines can travel around the country from August 1 to November 30”. There will also be a 15% discount for retirees on airfares.

In this regard, Ortiz acknowledges that “it was not something we had on the agenda, we have always been in favor of the market limiting prices at the level of competition, supply, and demand. We understand the context and adhere to the plan, we are in this commitment for these months and we hope that the costs that are controllable are also consistent with the 4% cap on the increases to which we committed”.

They also put in the balance that it is for a short period of time and when it expires in four months, there will be a new president and we will see what will happen to the program. “It is a short-term program and we understand it that way. I am sure that it will not be a permanent issue but rather a specific one, by a government that applied a program like Pre-Travel, which has been very positive”, said Estuardo Ortiz.

Strategic alliance
JetSMART also reported that they reached an agreement with American Airlines to be able to sell an interline ticket where you can start with a section of JetSMART to Ezeiza and from there board an American Airlines flight.

“We managed to develop a very particular alliance, unique in the world, which consists of linking a network of ultra-low-cost routes such as JetSmart with a global full-service line such as American.
