A220 para reemplazar flota Fokker

La aerolínea nacional de Papúa Nueva Guinea, Air Niugini, ha estado evaluando los aviones Embraer E2 como así también los Airbus A220, para evaluar las capacidades regionales de la aerolínea. La compañía anunció planes para solicitar once aviones A220 a partir de 2025 como parte de la decisión de un acuerdo para adquirir el producto europeo.

Air Niugini, la aerolínea nacional de Papúa Nueva Guinea, anunció este Martes 15/08 que había seleccionado el Airbus A220 para renovar su flota, formada principalmente por los Fokker F70 y F100, algunos con más de treinta años en servicio. La aerolínea reveló planes para tener once aviones Airbus, incluidos los modelos A220-100 y A220-300, que se unirán a dos Boeing 787 Dreamliner de fuselaje ancho, que se utilizarán en rutas de larga distancia.

“El Airbus A220 puede operar rutas nacionales e internacionales con más capacidad. Quema un 27 por ciento menos de combustible que la flota actual para los mismos sectores y tiene una mayor comodidad y eficiencia operativa”, dijo el Ministro de Empresas Estatales, William Duma. La decisión fue aprobada por el Consejo Ejecutivo Nacional, abriendo espacio para que Air Niugini continúe con el proceso de negociación con el constructor de aeronaves europeo Airbus Group.

A220 to replace Fokker fleet

Papua New Guinea’s national airline, Air Niugini, has been evaluating Embraer E2 aircraft as well as Airbus A220 aircraft, to assess the airline’s regional capabilities. The company announced plans to order eleven A220 aircraft from 2025 as part of a deal decision to purchase the European product.

Air Niugini, the national airline of Papua New Guinea, announced this Tuesday 08/15 that it had selected the Airbus A220 to renew its fleet, made up mainly of the Fokker F70 and F100, some with more than thirty years in service. The airline revealed plans to have eleven Airbus aircraft, including the A220-100 and A220-300 models, joining two wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which will be used on long-haul routes.

“The Airbus A220 can operate domestic and international routes with more capacity. It burns 27 percent less fuel than the current fleet for the same sectors and has greater comfort and operational efficiency”, said State Enterprises Minister William Duma. The decision was approved by the National Executive Council, opening space for Air Niugini to continue the negotiation process with the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus Group.
