Primer vuelo con cuatro frecuencias semanales 10/2023
Air Canada ha anunciado la incorporación de una nueva ruta comercial entre Toronto (Canadá) y Monterrey (México). La aerolínea canadiense, junto con la Secretaría de Turismo de Nuevo León de México y Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA), presentaron de manera oficial la nueva ruta Toronto/YYZ—Monterrey/MTY, con cuatro frecuencias semanales (4Frq/S), convirtiéndose en la única aerolínea canadiense en ofrecer vuelos directos y sin escalas entre ambos destinos. El primer vuelo procedente desde Toronto será el 29 de Octubre del 2023, mientras que el primer vuelo de salida de Monterrey con destino a Toronto se realizará el 30 de Octubre de 2023. Con la inauguración de esta ruta, el Aeropuerto Internacional de Monterrey fortalece su red de conectividad internacional y aumenta su oferta de vuelos regulares.
El vuelo será operado con cuatro frecuencias semanales con aeronaves regionales Airbus A220-300 en una configuración de 12 asientos en Clase Ejecutiva y 125 en Económica. Los días y horarios de los vuelos se desarrollarán: Toronto/YYZ—Monterrey/MTY despegando a las 18:00 los Lunes, Miércoles, Viernes y Domingo. El retorno Monterrey/MTY—Toronto/YYZ los Lunes, Martes, Jueves y Sábado despegando a las 10:10.
Maricarmen Martínez Villarreal, Secretaria de Turismo de Nuevo León, expresó su beneplácito por este hecho relevante para las relaciones entre ambas naciones: “Hoy estamos haciendo historia por el anuncio del inicio de operaciones de Air Canada, la cual conectará por primera vez de manera directa a Nuevo León con Toronto, ayudando a reforzar los lazos comerciales y turísticos entre México y Canadá, reafirmando que Nuevo León está en la mira internacional”.
Estuvieron presentes Sandra Shaddick, Cónsul General de Canadá en Monterrey; Virgilio Russi, Vicepresidente de Ventas Internacionales de Air Canada; Enrique Navarro, Director de Operaciones y Aeropuertos, OMA; Luis Noriega, Director de Ventas de Air Canada Latinoamérica y Álvaro Leite, Director Comercial de OMA Aeropuertos.
Al conectar con el HUB global en Toronto, se ofrece la conexión al resto de Canadá, Europa, África, Asia y Estados Unidos con más de 50 destinos. La ruta Toronto—Monterrey estará disponible durante todo el año, con cuatro frecuencias semanales a bordo de modernas aeronaves regionales Airbus A220-300. Los clientes de Air Canada podrán permanecer en Toronto o conectar el mismo día con 28 destinos dentro de Canadá o continuar su viaje hacia cualquiera de las 55 rutas internacionales, teniendo así un total de 83 opciones, para decidir la más conveniente, de acuerdo con su plan de viaje.
Por su parte, el Vicepresidente de Ventas Internacionales de la aerolínea, Virgilio Russi, declaró: “Para Air Canada, siendo la única aerolínea con vuelos directos a Canadá, iniciar, mantener y fortalecer la conectividad entre Monterrey y Toronto, a través de esta nueva ruta, refuerza el enlace ya existente entre una de las ciudades industriales y de negocios más importantes en México, con uno de los principales centros económicos y culturales de Canadá”. “La apertura de esta ruta permitirá generar oportunidades en mercados atractivos y que satisfagan la creciente demanda de vuelos que la ciudad requiere”, mencionó Ricardo Dueñas, Director General de OMA.
La Secretaría de Turismo de México ha comunicado que en 2023 hasta la fecha, más de 1.306.028 pasajeros procedentes de Canadá visitaron México representando un 14.4% del total de visitantes aéreos internacionales en México, posicionando a Canadá se posiciona como el segundo país que más visitantes envió a México vía aérea, detrás de Estados Unidos.

First flight with four weekly frequencies 10/2023
Air Canada has announced the addition of a new commercial route between Toronto (Canada) and Monterrey (Mexico). The Canadian airline, together with the Secretary of Tourism of Nuevo León of Mexico and Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA), officially presented the new route Toronto/YYZ—Monterrey/MTY, with four weekly frequencies (4Frq/S), becoming the only Canadian airline to offer direct and non-stop flights between both destinations. The first flight from Toronto will be on October 29, 2023, while the first flight from Monterrey to Toronto will take place on October 30, 2023. With the inauguration of this route, Monterrey International Airport strengthened its international connectivity network and increased its offer of regular flights.
The flight will be operated with four weekly frequencies with Airbus A220-300 regional aircraft in a configuration of 12 seats in Business Class and 125 in Economy. The days and times of the flights will be: Toronto/YYZ—Monterrey/MTY taking off at 18:00 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Return Monterrey/MTY—Toronto/YYZ on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday taking off at 10:10.

By connecting to the global HUB in Toronto, it offers connections to the rest of Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the United States with more than 50 destinations. The Toronto-Monterrey route will be available throughout the year, with four weekly frequencies aboard modern Airbus A220-300 regional aircraft. Air Canada customers will be able to stay in Toronto or connect the same day with 28 destinations within Canada or continue their trip to any of the 55 international routes, thus having a total of 83 options, to decide the most convenient, according to their trip plan.
For his part, the airline’s Vice President of International Sales, Virgilio Russi, declared: “For Air Canada, being the only airline with direct flights to Canada, to initiate, maintain and strengthen connectivity between Monterrey and Toronto, through this new route reinforces the existing link between one of the most important industrial and business cities in Mexico, with one of the main economic and cultural centers of Canada”. “The opening of this route will allow opportunities to be generated in attractive markets and to satisfy the growing demand for flights that the city requires”, said Ricardo Dueñas, General Director of OMA.
The Ministry of Tourism of Mexico has communicated that in 2023 to date, more than 1,306,028 passengers from Canada visited Mexico, representing 14.4% of the total international air visitors in Mexico, positioning Canada as the second country with the most visitors sent to Mexico by air, behind the United States.
