Boeing persigue restablecer entregas en reapertura comercial

The Boeing Company is preparing to restart deliveries of 737 MAX aircraft to its customers in China amid the visit of the United States Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, to restore trade agreements and promote new negotiations between the two countries.

Despite some encouraging moves at specific times, Boeing has not delivered any 737 MAX to China for four years after approvals from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Chinese airlines have restarted operations with Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, but the American manufacturer has still not been able to restore new aircraft deliveries to the eastern country.

Boeing has not made new deliveries of any 737 MAX models in China. But this could be about to change. Boeing has previously remarketed some single-aisle 737 MAXs originally ordered by airlines in China. In total, Boeing has relocated 55 Boeing 737 MAXs to other customers. Some sources suggest that Air India could pick up some of these planes. Two 737s were recently put out in storage. These planes should have gone to Chinese carriers years ago. But, the American automaker still has 85 units of the 737 MAX that the automaker intends to deliver to its Chinese customers.

Boeing could restart 737 MAX deliveries to airlines in China within weeks. The first planes look set to go to China Southern Airlines. Boeing has refused to confirm this story, beyond stating that it is supporting its Chinese customers. However, the manufacturer is moving planes to places where they are usually prepared for delivery. This work can be substantial, for aircraft that have been in storage for so long.

Beyond the grounding of the 737 MAX, Boeing has struggled with both deliveries and orders for new planes from China, due to international trade tensions. Airbus won a large order for A320neo family jets from China in 2022, despite similar tensions with European countries.

Aviation analysts agree that China needs new planes as its aviation industry recovers and expands. Chinese carriers may be taking deliveries of the homegrown COMAC C919, but production of this aircraft remains very slow. In addition, it is subject to the same international supply chain bottlenecks as those affecting Airbus and Boeing.
