Gobierno mexicano ordena reducción vuelos
El Gobierno de México ha anunciado el Jueves 31/08 la reducción de los vuelos en el Aeropuerto Internacional Ciudad de México (AICM). La decisión preocupa a las aerolíneas tras ordenar que el aeropuerto de la capital recorte el número de frecuencias en un 17%. Las nuevas normas, que entrarán en vigor el 29 de Octubre de 2023, requieren que el aeropuerto reduzca el número de vuelos por hora de 52 a 43. La terminal aérea fue diseñada para manejar aproximadamente 61 vuelos por hora, pero esa cifra había sido recortada a 52.
El Presidente Manuel López Obrador también quiere obligar a las aerolíneas y a los pasajeros a que usen el Aeropuerto Felipe Ángeles, el cual está subutilizado. Pero la Cámara Nacional de Aerotransportes (CANAERO) dijo que eso se debe a que el Gobierno usa los ingresos del puerto aéreo para pagar por la cancelación de la construcción de otro aeropuerto. La cámara señaló también que las nuevas normas para el Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México afectarán negativamente a los pasajeros, a las aerolíneas y a los trabajadores del sector.
“Esta reducción inesperada que se pretende aplicar a partir del 29 de Octubre próximo implica la necesidad de realizar una cancelación masiva de vuelos que incluye a pasajeros que ya tienen boletos adquiridos. La problemática real del AICM consiste en que los recursos que genera no son invertidos en su infraestructura”, expresó la Cámara Nacional de Aerotransportes.

The Government of Mexico announced on Thursday 08/31 the reduction of flights at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM). The decision worries airlines after ordering the capital’s airport to cut the number of frequencies by 17%. The new regulations, which will take effect on October 29, 2023, require the airport to reduce the number of flights per hour from 52 to 43. The air terminal was designed to handle approximately 61 flights per hour, but that figure had been cut to 52.
President Manuel López Obrador also wants to force airlines and passengers to use Felipe Ángeles Airport, which is underutilized. However, the National Chamber of Air Transport (CANAERO) said that this is because the Government uses the income from the airport to pay for the cancellation of the construction of another airport. The chamber also pointed out that the new rules for the Mexico City International Airport will negatively affect passengers, airlines, and workers in the sector.
“This unexpected reduction that is intended to be applied as of October 29 implies the need to carry out a massive cancellation of flights that includes passengers who already have purchased tickets. The real problem of the AICM is that the resources it generates are not invested in its infrastructure”, expressed the National Chamber of Air Transport.
