Laser Airlines buscará nuevas rutas aéreas Medellín y Cartagena
La aerolínea venezolana Laser Airlines ha anunciado que se encuentra estudiando incorporar las rutas Caracas/CCS—Medellín/MDE y Caracas/CCS—Cartagena de Indias/CTG.
El Vicepresidente de la aerolínea, René Cortés Vidal, expresó el respecto: “Hay buenas proyecciones con Cartagena, Medellín y Barranquilla. Creemos que se abrirán las posibilidades en el momento en que podamos incrementar las operaciones y el tráfico aerocomercial. En primera instancia, nos interesa mucho operar en Cartagena y Medellín”.
Tras la reapertura de la ruta, la aerolínea ha identificado un nicho de mercado étnico, pues uno de los principales motivos de los viajeros son sus familias. Muchos venezolanos tienen a sus familiares en Colombia y viceversa. “Sorprendentemente fue más el mercado de Colombia hacia Venezuela que el de Venezuela hacia Colombia”, aseguró el directivo de la compañía.
Laser Airlines volvió a volar entre Caracas y Bogotá el 12 de Junio de 2023. La aerolínea cesó su operación en 2020 cuando la pandemia dio un golpe al mercado y las cuarentenas restringieron el transporte aéreo. René Cortés Vidal dijo que la empresa venezolana sumó cuarenta vuelos entre las dos capitales en los últimos tres meses desde la reapertura. También se reportó una ocupación en los vuelos que oscila entre 80% y 85%. La compañía está trabajando con la Aeronáutica Civil y ProColombia para lograr una frecuencia diaria de la ruta.
“Tras la reapertura que hubo entre los países, se hicieron acuerdos para la reactivación progresiva de las rutas. Tenemos autorización para vuelos diarios entre Caracas (CCS) y Bogotá (BOG), además de Maracaibo/MAR—Bogotá/BOG. Al haber una reactivación paulatina iniciamos con tres operaciones semanales, pero estamos preparados para recuperar los vuelos diarios”, explicó René Cortés Vidal. Para lograr el objetivo, Laser asegura que está trabajando con la Embajada de Colombia en Venezuela, entidad que los está asesorando para lograr el incremento de la frecuencia. En segunda instancia está el tráfico corporativo: muchas empresas venezolanas tienen intereses económicos en el país y viceversa. Otro de los motores de la ocupación de los vuelos es el turismo. “Los viajes turísticos son importantes porque hay destinos que son muy apetecibles para Colombia. Ejemplo de ello es la Isla de Margarita, el Salto Ángel, Canaima y otros destinos que históricamente han sido de interés”, explicó el directivo. En los últimos tres años se ha recuperado la industria turística en Venezuela. Isla de Margarita, por ejemplo, ha expandido su capacidad hotelera para recibir más turistas colombianos. “Cuando hablamos de temas calidad-precio, es entre 30% y 35% más barato hacer turismo en esta isla que otras del Caribe. Hoy en Venezuela somos muy competitivos en productos y servicios”, dijo el directivo.
Finalmente, la empresa está expectante por los resultados que traerá los últimos dos meses del año, época de temporada alta en la que se dispara el turismo. Cortés aseguró que durante este lapso podrían crecer exponencialmente las operaciones gracias a la demanda de pasajeros. “Después del virus todo cambio y debemos tener en cuenta el numero de venezolanos que actualmente hacen vida en Colombia”, dijo René Cortés Vidal.

Many Venezuelans have their relatives in Colombia and vice versa. “Surprisingly, the market from Colombia to Venezuela was more than that from Venezuela to Colombia”, said the company executive.
Laser Airlines returned to flying between Caracas and Bogotá on June 12, 2023. The airline ceased operations in 2020 when the pandemic hit the market and quarantines restricted air travel. René Cortés Vidal said that the Venezuelan company added forty flights between the two capitals in the last three months since the reopening. An occupancy rate on flights ranging between 80% and 85% was also reported. The company is working with Aeronáutica Civil and ProColombia to achieve a daily frequency for the route.
“After the reopening that took place between the countries, agreements were made for the progressive reactivation of the routes. We have authorization for daily flights between Caracas (CCS) and Bogotá (BOG), as well as Maracaibo/MAR—Bogotá/BOG. As there is a gradual reactivation, we started with three weekly operations, but we are prepared to recover daily flights”, explained René Cortés Vidal. To achieve the objective, Laser assures that it is working with the Colombian Embassy in Venezuela, an entity that is advising them to achieve the increase in frequency. The second instance is corporate traffic: many Venezuelan companies have economic interests in the country and vice versa. Another of the engines of flight occupancy is tourism. “Tourist trips are important because there are destinations that are very appealing for Colombia. An example of this is Margarita Island, Angel Falls, Canaima, and other destinations that have historically been of interest”, explained the manager. In the last three years, the tourism industry in Venezuela has recovered. Isla de Margarita, for example, has expanded its hotel capacity to receive more Colombian tourists. “When we talk about quality-price issues, it is between 30% and 35% cheaper to do tourism on this island than others in the Caribbean. Today in Venezuela we are very competitive in products and services”, said the manager.
Finally, the company is expecting the results that the last two months of the year will bring, the high season when tourism soars. Cortés assured that during this period operations could grow exponentially thanks to passenger demand. “After the virus, everything changed and we must take into account the number of Venezuelans who currently live in Colombia”, said René Cortés Vidal.
