Boeing 787 desmantelado tras daños sustanciales
LATAM Airlines Chile ha informado el desmantelamiento del Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner matrícula CC-BBF, ttras un serio incidente ocurrido con esta aeronave anteriormente. Anteriormente, la aerolínea chilena había comunicado que no realizarían el desguazace la avión. Las imágenes compartidas en la cuenta de la aplicación social X mostraron el avión sin su cola y múltiples trabajadores y equipos cerca del 787.
La particularidad de esta noticia estriba en la relativa flota nueva de los Boeing 787 Dreamliner alrededor del mundo. La decisión de desmantelar la aeronave de 9,2 años de antigüedad para mantenimiento siguió a un incidente a principios de Mayo de 2023 cuando el avión estaba siendo reposicionado por un remolcador cuando, lo que provocó la rotura del fuselaje de la aeronave. Los videos posteriores publicados al incidente mostraron daños sustanciales en la parte inferior del fuselaje, incluidos cortes profundos en algunas áreas del fuselaje compuesto del 787. La aeronave tiene un total de 10.300 horas de vuelo (FH) y 1.575 ciclos de vuelo (FC), operando una duración promedio de la etapa de seis horas y 32 minutos.
Anteriormente, dos antiguos Boeing 787 noruegos fueron desguazados en el Aeropuerto de Glasgow Prestwick (PIK), Escocia, en Febrero de 2023. El par, registrado como VP-CVL y VP-CVM, se había almacenado en PIK desde mayo y septiembre de 2019, respectivamente. Si bien ninguno de los dos estuvo involucrado en un incidente, presumiblemente ningún operador estaba interesado en comprar el avión en el mercado de segunda mano después de casi cuatro años de almacenamiento. Los dos Boeing 787 fueron entregados a Norwegian en 2013. Boeing también desmanteló un banco de pruebas de un Boeing 787-8 con número de serie del fabricante MSN40694, en Abril de 2018.

LATAM Airlines Chile has reported the dismantling of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner registration CC-BBF, after a serious incident that occurred with this aircraft previously. Previously, the Chilean airline had announced that they would not scrap the plane. Images shared on the social app X account showed the plane without its tail and multiple workers and equipment near the 787.
The particularity of this news lies in the relatively new fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners around the world. The decision to dismantle the 9.2-year-old aircraft for maintenance followed an incident in early May 2023 when the aircraft was being repositioned by a tugboat, causing the aircraft’s fuselage to break. Post-release videos of the incident showed substantial damage to the underside of the fuselage, including deep cuts in some areas of the 787’s composite fuselage. The aircraft has a total of 10,300 flight hours (FH) and 1,575 flight cycles (FC), operating an average stage duration of six hours and 32 minutes.
Previously, two former Norwegian Boeing 787s were scrapped at Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK), Scotland, in February 2023. The pair, registered as VP-CVL and VP-CVM, had been stored at PIK from May and September 2019. , respectively. While neither was involved in an incident, presumably neither operator was interested in purchasing the aircraft on the second-hand market after nearly four years in storage. The two Boeing 787s were delivered to Norwegian in 2013. Boeing also dismantled a test stand of a Boeing 787-8 with manufacturer serial number MSN40694, in April 2018.
