Intelsat expande servicios conectividad para aerolíneas
Intelsat, uno de los principales operadores de redes terrestres y satelitales a nivel global y líder en Conectividad a Bordo (IFC) para las aerolíneas, ha ampliado sus servicios de redes multi-órbita basada en Satélites en Órbita Baja (LEO) y en Órbita Geoestacionaria (GEO), apoyada en la solución Airbus Airspace Link (HBC plus), donde Intelsat desempeñará un papel central en el desarrollo de los servicios IFC flexible de Airbus.
Las líneas aéreas implementarán en la primera mitad de 2026 la opción de conexión por la terminal ESA en banda Ku de Airbus, la cual está diseñada para permitir conexiones simultáneas tanto a la redes GEO y LEO de Intelsat, así como del prestador de servicios OneWeb. Este enfoque de enrutamiento de datos promete ofrecer un servicio IFC de primer nivel, caracterizado por su resiliencia global, baja latencia y alto rendimiento. Como parte del acuerdo, Airbus se encargará de la instalación en línea, la modernización del sistema HBCplus y el soporte relacionado.
Dave Bijur, Vicepresidente Senior de Aviación Comercial de Intelsat, destacó la importancia de la flexibilidad y opciones ofrecidas por Intelsat a sus clientes, adaptando equipos a sus necesidades y presentando diversos modelos comerciales. En asociación con Airbus, se busca llevar esta flexibilidad a un nuevo nivel, aprovechando el alto rendimiento de los satélites GEO junto con la baja latencia de los satélites LEO.
Maximilian Ruecker, Vicepresidente de Adquisiciones de Airbus, destacó la colaboración exitosa entre ambos equipos para desarrollar soluciones conjuntas que respondan a las demandas de los clientes. La innovación de Intelsat al combinar satélites GEO y LEO para ofrecer una solución multi-órbita sin interrupciones se alinea con la naturaleza disruptiva del ecosistema abierto de Airspace Link. Este enfoque conjunto representa un avance significativo en la industria de la conectividad a bordo y promete satisfacer las crecientes necesidades de las aerolíneas y los arrendadores de aviones.

Intelsat, one of the main operators of terrestrial and satellite networks globally and leader in In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) for airlines has expanded its multi-orbit network services based on Low Orbit Satellites (LEO) and Geostationary Orbit (GEO), supported by the Airbus Airspace Link (HBC plus) solution, where Intelsat will play a central role in the development of Airbus flexible IFC services.
In the first half of 2026, the airlines will implement the connection option through the Airbus Ku-band ESA terminal, which is designed to allow simultaneous connections to both Intelsat’s GEO and LEO networks, as well as the service provider OneWeb. This data routing approach promises to deliver a world-class IFC service, characterized by global resiliency, low latency, and high throughput. As part of the agreement, Airbus will be responsible for the online installation, modernization of the HBCplus system, and related support.
