Alaska Airlines retorna a flota todo Boeing

Alaska Airlines anunció que a partir del 1 de Octubre de 2023 realizará todas sus operaciones con una flota integrada exclusivamente por aviones Boeing 737. La adquisición de Virgin America por parte de la compañía en 2018, incorporó aviones Airbus A320ceo, introduciendo una flota mixta de aeronaves compartida con los Boeing 737. La aerolínea con sede en Seattle (WA), operaba una flota de 68 aviones Airbus A320/A321. Con el transcurso del tiempo, la compañía ha ido retirando estos aviones, y últimamente influenciado por el impacto de la pandemia de COVID-19 en 2020. Actualmente, la aerolínea comenzó a reducir su flota de Airbus, y únicamente quedan en servicio cinco aviones A321neo. La edad promedio de esta subflota es de casi seis años, siendo Virgin America la primera aerolínea en operar la variante A321neo.

Alaska Airlines completó la eliminación gradual de su flota de A320ceo a principios de 2023, con un total de 29 aviones actualmente almacenados. Alaska Airlines continuará reduciendo sus operaciones con aviones Airbus esta semana, con el último vuelo programado para el Sábado, 30 de Septiembre de 2023. After this last scheduled flight, it is unclear what the fate of the remaining A321neos will be. Most of them are expected to be put into storage awaiting a new owner.

Alaska Airlines has received twelve Boeing 737 MAX during this year 2023 as part of the fleet update. Additionally, it has selected seven future deliveries of the Boeing 737-9 MAX variant.
