Firma acuerdo tecnología sostenibilidad ambiental

Embraer anunció el 26 de Septiembre de 2023 un acuerdo con American Airlines para unirse a Energia Advisory Group, un equipo formado por aerolíneas, arrendadores, proveedores y otros expertos de la aviación que asesoran a Embraer en su desarrollo de aviones sostenibles.

American Airlines opera la flota regional más grande entre las compañías de Estados Unidos y en 2022 consumió más de 7,5 millones de litros de combustible de aviación sostenible. También ha invertido en el desarrollo de infraestructura y propulsión impulsadas por hidrógeno. Este interés en la aviación sostenible llevó a la aerolínea a ser nombrada Eco-Aerolínea del Año 2023 por Air Transport World.

“Creemos que las colaboraciones de la industria destinadas a promover las tecnologías de descarbonización son fundamentales para ayudar a la aviación a alcanzar su objetivo de emisiones cero para 2050. Esperamos trabajar con Embraer y los demás miembros de Energia Advisory Group para desarrollar aviones de próxima generación con cero emisiones”, afirma Jill Blickstein, Vicepresidenta de Sostenibilidad de American Airlines.

Ahora, de la mano de Embraer y su grupo asesor, las empresas trabajarán juntas para definir y establecer los requisitos para una aviación sostenible, libre de emisiones y comercialmente viable. Definirán los requisitos de rendimiento y diseño para cuatro aviones. Estos aviones, que van desde 9 a 50 asientos, utilizarán tecnologías de propulsión eléctrica, de hidrógeno e híbrida.

Sobre la nueva incorporación de American Airlines a Energia, Arjan Meijer, Presidente y Director ejecutivo de Embraer Aviación Comercial comenta: “Este grupo se ha convertido en una parte central del programa debido a la amplitud y profundidad de la experiencia que los diferentes miembros aportan. Estamos entusiasmados de trabajar junto con una aerolínea líder mundial en el mayor desafío que enfrenta nuestra industria”.

Environmental sustainability technology agreement signed

Embraer announced on September 26, 2023, an agreement with American Airlines to join the Energia Advisory Group, a team made up of airlines, lessors, suppliers, and other aviation experts who advise Embraer on its development of sustainable aircraft.

American Airlines operates the largest regional fleet among US carriers and consumed more than 7.5 million liters of sustainable aviation fuel in 2022. It has also invested in the development of hydrogen-powered infrastructure and propulsion. This interest in sustainable aviation led to the airline being named Eco-Airline of the Year 2023 by Air Transport World.

“We believe that industry collaborations aimed at advancing decarbonization technologies are critical to helping aviation achieve its goal of zero emissions by 2050. We look forward to working with Embraer and the other members of the Energia Advisory Group to develop next-generation aircraft with zero emissions”, says Jill Blickstein, Vice President of Sustainability at American Airlines.

Now, together with Embraer and its advisory group, the companies will work together to define and establish the requirements for sustainable, emissions-free, and commercially viable aviation. They will define performance and design requirements for four aircraft. These aircraft, ranging from 9 to 50 seats, will use electric, hydrogen, and hybrid propulsion technologies.
