Reapertura Aeropuerto Termas de Río Hondo
El Aeropuerto Termas de Río Hondo (RHD) reabrió el 26 de Setiembre de 2023, luego de haber estado cerrado por obras de renovación que brindan mayor seguridad operacional y posibilitan la operación de aviones como los Boeing 737-800/MAX y los Airbus A320. Las obras demandaron una inversión de AR$ 3.034 millones de Pesos. Además, continúan las obras en la terminal de pasajeros iniciadas recientemente, que dejarán un aeropuerto internacional con servicios de alta calidad para los usuarios.
El cierre del aeropuerto santiagueño ha permitido obras en la nueva pista entre otros detalles mientras permaneció sin operaciones aerocomerciales durante 106 días. En los primeros cinco meses del año 2023 hubo un 78% más de pasajeros que en el mismo período de 2019, permitiendo actualizar las mejoras para profundizar las operaciones de las líneas aéreas.
La obra quedó inaugurada en un acto realizado en el Aeropuerto de Río Hondo, al que asistieron el Gobernador de Santiago del Estero, Gerardo Zamora; el Secretario de Planificación de Transporte del Ministerio de Transporte de la Nación, Gastón Jaques; el Intendente de Río Hondo, Jorge Mukdise; el Presidente del Organismo Regulador del Sistema Nacional de Aeropuertos (ORSNA), Carlos Lugones Aignasse; el Vicepresidente del ORSNA, Fernando Muriel; un representante de la Empresa Argentina de Navegación Aérea (EANA) y el CEO de Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, Daniel Ketchibachian.
Daniel Ketchibachian, dijo que la nueva pista “forma parte del plan de modernización del Aeropuerto Internacional de Termas de Río Hondo, que se completará con la refuncionalización de la terminal. La nueva pista contribuirá a fortalecer y potenciar el turismo, uno de los factores claves en el desarrollo económico provincial”.
El Presidente del ORSNA indicó que “en estos últimos cuatro años de gestión de gobierno hemos impulsado más de 75 obras en todo el territorio federal y hemos invertido más de AR$ 120.000 millones en mejorar nuestras pistas, calles de rodaje, plataformas, sistemas de balizamiento y terminales aeroportuarias”.
Por su parte, al cierre del acto el Intendente Jorge Mukdise señaló que “esta obra es clave para potenciar la actividad turística en la provincia, es un sueño cumplido. El sector privado se compromete a llenar los vuelos para que sigamos creciendo como la ciudad termal más grande del mundo”.
Las obras se iniciaron el 12 de Junio de 2023 con el objetivo de repavimentar la pista y sus márgenes, la ampliación de las dársenas de giro en cabeceras, la repavimentación de la calle de rodaje Alpha y sus márgenes y la rehabilitación y ampliación de la plataforma comercial. Así, se amplían de 1 a 3 las posiciones para aeronaves con Clave de Referencia C, lo que hace a una operación más flexible con más capacidad y mayor seguridad.
Río Hondo es un aeropuerto estratégico para la Provincia de Santiago del Estero, pues conecta Buenos Aires con este importante centro turístico de la región. Entre Enero y Junio de 2023, el aeropuerto ha desarrollado un tráfico de 10.962 pasajeros lo que muestra un crecimiento del 47% contra el mismo período de 2019, en 2022 pasaron 23.027, un 128% más respecto de 2019 cuando se registraron 12.679. 
DETALLES DE LA OBRA
Rehabilitación de pavimentos del área de movimientos:
- Repavimentación de pista y márgenes pavimentados, reconstruyéndolos de manera total.
- Ampliación de dársenas de giro en cabeceras de la pista, de manera que permitan la operación sin restricciones de todas las aeronaves que pueden operar en el Aeropuerto.
- Repavimentación de la calle de rodaje Alpha y sus márgenes.
- La Rehabilitación y ampliación de la plataforma comercial. Esta ampliación permitirá la operación de 3 aeronaves Clave C en simultaneo sin restricciones operativas y sin afectar la vida útil del pavimento
El tráfico de aeronaves aerocomerciales que operan en el Aeropuerto Internacional Termas de Río Hondo es casi en su totalidad Clave C, es decir habilitado para operaciones con aeronaves Boeing 737, Airbus A320, Embraer E190, por lo que los trabajos ejecutados, optimizarán la operación de estas aeronaves.

- 15.000 m2 de pintura para señalización diurna.
Además, se está llevando a cabo una importante obra de refucionalización de la terminal que se hará en dos etapas para no obstaculizar la operación del aeropuerto:
- Readecuación de accesos y veredas.
- Acceso de servicio y puesto fijo de PSA.
- 5 puestos de check-in, con la incorporación de un nuevo sistema de BHS.
- 4 puestos de self check-in.
- Readecuación de Sala de Arribos.
- Nuevo control de RX para 2 puestos de control.
- Nuevos locales para rentadoras.

The works began on June 12, 2023, with the objective of repaving the runway and its margins, expanding the turn basins at the headlands, resurfacing the Alpha taxiway and its margins, and rehabilitating and expanding the apron. commercial. - The Rehabilitation and expansion of the commercial platform. This expansion will allow the operation of 3 Key C aircraft simultaneously without operational restrictions and without affecting the useful life of the pavement.
The traffic of commercial aircraft that operate at the Termas de Río Hondo International Airport is almost entirely Code C, that is, enabled for operations with Boeing 737, Airbus A320, and Embraer E190 aircraft, so the works carried out will optimize the operation of these aircraft.
