South African-GOL acuerdo de Código Compartido

South African Airways (SAA) ha reactivado su acuerdo de Código Compartido con la aerolínea brasileña GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes. Esta asociación, pausada durante la crisis sanitaria mundial del COVID-19, ofrece beneficios como más opciones de tarifas, compras de boletos individuales y procesos simplificados de check-in y equipaje para vuelos de conexión. Este anuncio sigue al lanzamiento de los vuelos directos de SAA a São Paulo, Brasil, hace nueve meses, y los vuelos directos a Perth, Australia, hace cinco meses.

El acuerdo incluye vuelos entre el Aeropuerto Internacional de Ciudad del Cabo (CPT) el Aeropuerto Internacional Johannesburgo/OR Tambo (JNB) y el Aeropuerto Internacional Galeão/Antonio Carlos Jobim (GIG) en Río de Janeiro, Brasil. También se extiende a las rutas nacionales que conectan Ciudad del Cabo, Durban, Gqeberha y Johannesburgo. SAA también agregará su código a más de 20 vuelos operados por GOL dentro de Brasil, incluidas ciudades como Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Curitiba y Porto Alegre.

Actualmente, South African Airways opera São Paulo/Guarulhos/GRU—Ciudad del Cabo/CPT con dos frecuencias semanales (2Frq/S), y São Paulo/GRU—Johannesburgo/JNB, utilizando aeronaves Airbus A330-300. Además de este acuerdo renovado, SAA planea expandir sus operaciones de manera significativa.

Para finales de Abril 2025, SAA tiene como objetivo aumentar sus destinos de 14 a 23 y ampliar su flota en un 50% a 21 aviones para Marzo 2025. El Director Ejecutivo interino, John Lamola, mencionó que SAA tiene los fondos para respaldar este crecimiento y planea abrir rutas a Frankfurt, Múnich, Londres y ciudades de la costa este de Estados Unidos para Marzo de 2028.

South African-GOL Codeshare agreement

South African Airways (SAA) has reactivated its Codeshare agreement with Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes. This partnership, paused during the COVID-19 global health crisis, offers benefits such as more fare options, individual ticket purchases, and simplified check-in and baggage processes for connecting flights. This announcement follows the launch of SAA direct flights to São Paulo, Brazil, nine months ago, and direct flights to Perth, Australia, five months ago.

The agreement includes flights between Cape Town International Airport (CPT), Johannesburg/OR Tambo International Airport (JNB), and Galeão/Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport (GIG) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It also extends to domestic routes connecting Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, and Johannesburg. SAA will also add its code to more than 20 flights operated by GOL within Brazil, including cities such as Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Curitiba, and Porto Alegre.

In the future, the airlines plan to add sixty more destinations in Latin America and Africa, making it easier to plan multi-city itineraries.

«The re-establishment of the codeshare agreement affirms Brazil’s status as a strategically important destination for South Africa. It connects two major economies in the southern hemisphere to enable leisure tourism and facilitate business, networking, and trade», said the SAA Commercial Director, Tebogo Tsimane.

Currently, South African Airways operates São Paulo/Guarulhos/GRU—Cape Town/CPT with two weekly frequencies (2Frq/S), and São Paulo/GRU—Johannesburg/JNB, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft. In addition to this renewed agreement, SAA plans to expand its operations significantly.

By the end of April 2025, SAA aims to increase its destinations from 14 to 23 and expand its fleet by 50% to 21 aircraft by March 2025. Interim CEO John Lamola mentioned that SAA has the funds to support this growth and plans to open routes to Frankfurt, Munich, London, and cities on the east coast of the United States by March 2028.
