Airbus alcanza certificación EASA para A321XLR

El Airbus A321XLR propulsado por motores CFM LEAP-1A ha recibido su Certificación de Tipo de la Agencia de Seguridad Aérea de la Unión Europea (EASA), preparando el camino para la entrada en servicio del nuevo avión a finales de verano. El Certificado de Tipo fue entregado por Florian Guillermet, Director Ejecutivo de EASA a Isabelle Bloy, A321XLR Ingeniera Jefe. La certificación de la versión del motor Pratt & Whitney está programada para finales de 2024.

La perspectiva del nuevo avión A321XLR que se encuentra en la franja cercana a los aviones de fuselaje ancho en la flota de una aerolínea, introduce la flexibilidad de añadir capacidad, abrir nuevas rutas o incluso seguir operando las existentes cuando la demanda es variable. Todo ello con un 30% menos de combustible por asiento que los aviones de la competencia de la generación anterior, y con aproximadamente la mitad del coste de viaje de los aviones modernos de fuselaje ancho. La nueva cabina Airspace del A321XLR proporcionará a los pasajeros comodidad en todas las clases.

El primer A321XLR completó su vuelo inaugural en Junio de 2022. A esto le siguió un extenso programa de pruebas en el que participaron tres aviones de prueba. Hasta ahora se han encargado más de 500 Airbus A321XLR.

The Airbus A321XLR powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines has received its Type Certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), paving the way for the entry into service of the new aircraft at the end of summer. The Type Certificate was presented by Florian Guillermet, Executive Director of EASA to Isabelle Bloy, A321XLR Chief Engineer. Certification of the Pratt & Whitney engine version is scheduled for late 2024.

The prospect of the new A321XLR aircraft, which sits on the fringe of wide-body aircraft in an airline’s fleet, introduces the flexibility to add capacity, open new routes or even continue operating existing ones when demand is variable. All this with 30% less fuel per seat than competing previous generation aircraft, and at approximately half the travel cost of modern wide-body aircraft. The new Airspace cabin on the A321XLR will provide passengers with comfort in all classes.

The first A321XLR completed its maiden flight in June 2022. This was followed by an extensive test program involving three test aircraft. More than 500 Airbus A321XLRs have been ordered so far.
