Cancelaciones de vuelos por conflicto líbano-israelí

Una multitud de aerolíneas se encuentran cancelando rutas hacia Beirut, Líbano por temor a un posible ataque israelí en suelo libanés. Los vuelos en el Aeropuerto de Beirut (BEY) han sido cancelados o retrasados debido al aumento del conflicto entre el Líbano e Israel por el grupo armado Hezbollah.

Un ataque con cohetes que mató a 12 adolescentes y niños en los Altos del Golán el Sábado 27/07 ha aumentado las preocupaciones de que Israel y el grupo respaldado por Irán podrían involucrarse en una guerra a gran escala. El Gabinete de Seguridad de Israel autorizó el Domingo 28/07 al Gobierno a responder al ataque. Hezbollah negó toda responsabilidad por el ataque, el más mortífero en Israel o territorio anexado por Israel desde el asalto de Hamas el 7 de Octubre de 2023 que desencadenó la guerra en Gaza, la cual se ha extendido a varios frentes desde entonces.

Otras aerolíneas internacionales como Lufthansa German Airlines anunció el Lunes 29/07 que había suspendido cinco rutas hacia y desde Beirut por parte de las aerolíneas del grupo, Swiss International Air Lines, Eurowings y Lufthansa, hasta el 30 de Julio de 2024 como medida de precaución.

La tabla de información de vuelos del aeropuerto de Beirut y el sitio web de seguimiento de vuelos Flightradar24 muestran que Turkish Airlines también canceló dos vuelos durante la noche del Domingo 28/07. La aerolínea de bajo coste con sede en Turquía, SunExpress, la subsidiaria de Turkish Airlines AJet, la aerolínea griega Aegean Airlines, Ethiopian Air y MEA también han cancelado vuelos programados para aterrizar en Beirut el lunes, según Flightradar24.

El Aeropuerto Internacional de Beirut-Rafic Hariri es el único aeropuerto de Líbano. Ha sido blanco de la guerra civil del país y de enfrentamientos anteriores con Israel, incluida la última guerra entre Hezbollah e Israel en 2006.

A multitude of airlines are cancelling routes to Beirut, Lebanon for fear of a possible Israeli attack on Lebanese soil. Flights at Beirut Airport (BEY) have been cancelled or delayed due to the escalation of the conflict between Lebanon and Israel by the armed group Hezbollah.

A rocket attack that killed 12 teenagers and children in the Golan Heights on Saturday 27/07 has raised concerns that Israel and the Iranian-backed group could engage in a full-scale war. Israel’s Security Cabinet on Sunday 28/07 authorized the government to respond to the attack. Hezbollah denied all responsibility for the attack, the deadliest in Israel or territory annexed by Israel since the Hamas assault on October 7 that triggered the war in Gaza, which has spread to several fronts since then.

Lebanon’s flag carrier Middle East Airlines (MEA) has said that the disruptions to its schedule were related to insurance risks, as tensions rise between Israel and the armed political group Hezbollah. Other international airlines such as Lufthansa German Airlines announced on Monday 29/07 that it had suspended five routes to and from Beirut by the group’s airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Eurowings and Lufthansa, until 30 July 2024 as a precautionary measure.

Beirut Airport’s flight information board and flight tracking website Flightradar24 show that Turkish Airlines also cancelled two flights overnight on Sunday 28/07. Turkey-based low-cost carrier SunExpress, Turkish Airlines subsidiary AJet, Greek carrier Aegean Airlines, Ethiopian Air and MEA have also cancelled flights scheduled to land in Beirut on Monday, according to Flightradar24.

Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport is Lebanon’s only airport. It has been a target of the country’s civil war and previous clashes with Israel, including the last war between Hezbollah and Israel in 2006.

Lebanon-Israel conflict escalates
The armed group Hezbollah and the Israeli military have increased cross-border exchanges of fire since the war in Gaza began. The conflict has disrupted flights and shipments across the region, including reciprocal drone and missile attacks between Israel and Iran in April 2024.
