Amplía frecuencias a Las Vegas con nuevo servicio a Ottawa y Montreal

Porter Airlines ha anunciado el 30/07 que ofrece dos nuevas rutas estacionales de invierno que conectan el Este de Canadá con Las Vegas, Estados Unidos, satisfaciendo la creciente demanda de viajes al principal destino de entretenimiento del mundo.

A partir del 1 de Noviembre de 2024, Porter Airlines operará un servicio sin escalas entre el Aeropuerto Internacional de Ottawa/YOW—Las Vegas/Harry Reid/LAS con cuatro frecuencias semanales (4Frq/S). El servicio Las Vegas/Harry Reid/LAS—Montreal-Trudeau/YUL comienza el 2 de Noviembre de 2024, con vuelos que operan tres veces por semana (3Frq/S). Porter será la única aerolínea que operará la ruta Ottawa—Las Vegas.

Expanding Las Vegas Frequencies new service to Ottawa and Montreal

Porter Airlines announced on July 30 that it is offering two new winter seasonal routes connecting Eastern Canada to Las Vegas, USA, meeting the growing demand for travel to the world’s premier entertainment destination.

Beginning November 1, 2024, Porter Airlines will operate nonstop service between Ottawa International Airport/YOW—Las Vegas/Harry Reid/LAS with four weekly frequencies (4Frq/S). Las Vegas/Harry Reid/LAS—Montreal-Trudeau/YUL service begins November 2, 2024, with flights operating three times per week (3Frq/S).

Tribunal Apelaciones bloquea norma divulgación tarifas de aerolíneas

Un tribunal de apelaciones de Estados Unidos ha bloqueado la regla del Departamento de Transporte (DOT) que requiere que las aerolíneas revelen las tarifas a los clientes durante el proceso de reserva. El fallo del Lunes 29/07 bloqueará la norma, que entró en vigor el 1 de Julio de 2024 y obligaría a las aerolíneas a cumplirla plenamente para el 30 de Abril de 2025.

El 31 de Mayo de 2024, varias aerolíneas y asociaciones de aerolíneas pidieron al DOT que retrasara la implementación de la regla mientras se buscaba una revisión. El DOT se negó, y las aerolíneas impugnaron las reglas en el Tribunal de Apelaciones del Quinto Circuito de EE.UU., solicitando al tribunal que impusiera una suspensión pendiente de revisión.

Las aerolíneas argumentan que la regla excede la autoridad del DOT, es arbitraria y caprichosa y pasó por alto erróneamente la notificación y los comentarios. El tribunal estuvo de acuerdo en gran medida con esos argumentos y concedió la suspensión el lunes.

US Court Blocks ‘Fare Disclosure’

Appeals Court Blocks Airline Fare Disclosure Rule

A US appeals court has blocked the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) rule requiring airlines to disclose fares to customers during the booking process. The ruling on Monday 7/29 will block the rule, which took effect on July 1, 2024, and would require airlines to be in full compliance by April 30, 2025.

On May 31, 2024, several airlines and airline associations asked the DOT to delay implementation of the rule while a review was sought. The DOT refused, and the airlines challenged the rules in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, asking the court to impose a stay pending review.

The airlines argue that the rule exceeds the DOT’s authority, is arbitrary and capricious, and wrongly ignored notice and comment. The court largely agreed with those arguments and granted the stay on Monday.

The justices said the airlines showed that the DOT had overstepped its authority. The court agreed with the airlines who said, “The Rule not only prohibits, but prescribes”, rather than following the process that has been laid out, which includes a notice and a hearing, and the DOT determining that the airline’s online sales practices are unfair or deceptive. Only after all of these steps have been completed can the DOT order the airlines to stop.

Federal law authorizes the Secretary of Transportation to investigate and decide whether an airline has engaged or is engaging in an unfair or deceptive practice or an unfair method of competition in the sale of air transportation.

The Court said the rule essentially promulgates a code of online disclosure practices, which is not authorized by federal law.

The justices went on to say that DOT’s defense of the rule does not address the text of the statute and instead points to a general provision authorizing the Secretary of Transportation to take actions it deems necessary to carry out its functions, including conducting investigations, prescribing regulations, standards, and procedures, and issuing orders. This does not help DOT’s argument, the court said, ruling that they have held before that the agency’s authority cannot extend beyond the scope of what it is tasked to carry out.

The Court ruled that the airlines have shown sufficient evidence that they will likely suffer significant and irreparable harm from the rule and that there is generally no public interest in perpetuating the agency’s unlawful action.
