Junta Directiva nombra a Kelly Ortberg nuevo Presidente Boeing

The Boeing Company anunció el 31 de Julio de 2024 que su Junta Directiva ha elegido a Robert K. Ortberg como nuevo Presidente y Director Ejecutivo de la compañía aeroespacial, cargo que entrará en vigor a partir del 8 de Agosto de 2024. Robert «Kelly» Ortberg también será miembro de la Junta Directiva de Boeing.

Sucederá a Dave Calhoun, quien a principios de este año 2024 anunció su intención de retirarse de la compañía, tras haber servido como presidente y director ejecutivo desde enero de 2020, y como miembro del Consejo Directivo de Boeing desde 2009.

«El Consejo de Administración ha llevado a cabo un exhaustivo y minucioso proceso de búsqueda durante los últimos meses para seleccionar al próximo director ejecutivo de Boeing, y Kelly tiene las habilidades y la experiencia adecuadas para liderar a Boeing en su próximo capítulo. Kelly es un líder experimentado que goza de un gran respeto en la industria aeroespacial y que se ha ganado una merecida reputación por formar equipos sólidos y dirigir empresas de ingeniería y fabricación complejas. Esperamos trabajar con él mientras lidera a Boeing en este importante período de su larga historia. El Consejo también desea agradecer a Dave Calhoun por su sólido liderazgo en Boeing, primero como presidente y luego como director ejecutivo, cuando asumió el cargo de dirigir la compañía a través de los desafíos de los últimos años», afirmó Steven Mollenkopf, Presidente del Consejo de Administración.

Robert K. Ortberg, de 64 años, aporta a este puesto más de 35 años de experiencia en el sector aeroespacial. Comenzó su carrera en 1983 como ingeniero en Texas Instruments y luego se incorporó a Rockwell Collins en 1987 como director de programas y ocupó puestos de liderazgo cada vez más importantes en la empresa antes de convertirse en su presidente y director ejecutivo en 2013. Tras cinco años al frente de Rockwell Collins, dirigió la integración de la empresa con United Technologies y RTX hasta su jubilación de RTX en 2021. Ha ocupado varios puestos de liderazgo importantes en la industria, incluido el de miembro del Consejo de Administración de RTX. Además, forma parte del Consejo de Administración de Aptiv PLC, una empresa tecnológica global y líder de la industria en arquitectura de sistemas de vehículos. Es el expresidente de la Junta de Gobernadores de la Asociación de Industrias Aeroespaciales (AIA). Posee una licenciatura en ingeniería mecánica de la Universidad de Iowa, Estados Unidos.

Board of Directors Names Kelly Ortberg as New Boeing President

The Boeing Company announced on July 31, 2024 that its Board of Directors has elected Robert K. Ortberg as the aerospace company’s new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 8, 2024. Robert «Kelly» Ortberg will also serve as a member of Boeing’s Board of Directors.

He will succeed Dave Calhoun, who earlier this year 2024 announced his intention to retire from the company, having served as president and CEO since January 2020, and as a member of the Boeing Board of Directors since 2009.

«The Board of Directors has conducted a thorough and exhaustive search process over the past several months to select Boeing’s next CEO, and Kelly has the right skills and experience to lead Boeing into its next chapter. Kelly is an experienced leader who is highly respected in the aerospace industry and who has earned a well-deserved reputation for building strong teams and leading complex engineering and manufacturing enterprises. We look forward to working with him as he leads Boeing through this important period in its long history. The Board would also like to thank Dave Calhoun for his strong leadership of Boeing, first as president and then as CEO, as he took on the role of leading the company through the challenges of the past several years», said Steven Mollenkopf, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Robert K. Ortberg, 64, brings more than 35 years of experience in the aerospace industry to this role. He began his career in 1983 as an engineer at Texas Instruments and then joined Rockwell Collins in 1987 as a program manager and held increasingly senior leadership positions at the company before becoming its president and CEO in 2013. After five years at the helm of Rockwell Collins, he led the company’s integration with United Technologies and RTX until his retirement from RTX in 2021. He has held a number of senior leadership positions in the industry, including serving as a member of the RTX Board of Directors. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Aptiv PLC, a global technology company and industry leader in vehicle systems architecture. He is the former Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Iowa, USA.
