JetSMART Colombia alcanza 700.000 pasajeros transportados

JetSMART Airlines Colombia ha transportado 700.000 pasajeros. La aerolínea prepara su llegada a nuevas ciudades y el próximo año arrancará a volar a destinos internacionales con su filial colombiana. La nueva aerolínea de bajo costo que opera en Colombia desde el 14 de Marzo de 2024, ​ propiedad de la compañía estadounidense Indigo Partners. Se dedica a los vuelos de cabotaje y regionales, transportando pasajeros, carga y correo.

La aerolínea JetSMART Colombia está creciendo rápidamente conquistando el hueco de las líneas aéreas de presupuesto abandonadas por Viva y Utra Air. A cuatro meses de haber empezado como operador doméstico en el país, la compañía ha transportado cerca de 700.000 viajeros, con un factor de ocupación en promedio del 85%. La starrtup low cost continua avanzando en el mercado de cabotaje acariciando el tercer puesto a la aerolínea Wingo Air. El impulso del nuevo operador aéreo se encuentra captando un importante cuota de mercado en pocos meses, mientras que conservan el podio las aerolíneas Avianca Airlines y LATAM Airlines Colombia, que en conjunto poseen una cuota superior al 50%.

“En las últimas cifras ya estamos de tercer jugador, muy cercanos a Wingo, pero hemos venido ganando participación, y más que eso hemos motivado la demanda de las personas que no viajaban en avión. De 30 millones de viajeros que ha tenido JetSMART en toda su historia, cerca de 6 millones se subieron en un avión por primera vez con nosotros”, explicó el Country Manager de JetSMART Colombia, Mario García.

JetSMART Colombia cuenta con quince rutas doméstica; junto con siete rutas internacionales de las filiales peruana, chilena y argentina. La filial colombiana analiza explotar el mercado extranjero en el mediano plazo. Las proyecciones para iniciar vuelos internacionales se encuentran establecidos para inicios del 2025. “La apuesta es tener una red de rutas más robusta y a comienzos de 2025 comenzar a volar a nivel internacional con la aerolínea colombiana”, dijo Mario García.

JetSMART Airlines Colombia has transported 700,000 passengers. The airline is preparing its arrival to new cities and next year it will start flying to international destinations with its Colombian subsidiary. The new low-cost airline that operates in Colombia since March 14, 2024, owned by the American company Indigo Partners. It is dedicated to domestic and regional flights, transporting passengers, cargo and mail.

The JetSMART Colombia airline is growing rapidly, conquering the gap of budget airlines abandoned by Viva and Utra Air. Four months after starting as a domestic operator in the country, the company has transported nearly 700,000 passengers, with an average occupancy factor of 85%. The low-cost start-up continues to advance in the domestic market, almost touching third place with the airline Wingo Air. The new airline operator is gaining a significant market share in just a few months, while Avianca Airlines and LATAM Airlines Colombia, which together have a market share of over 50%, remain on the podium.

“In the latest figures, we are already the third player, very close to Wingo, but we have been gaining market share, and more than that, we have motivated the demand of people who did not travel by plane. Of the 30 million travelers that JetSMART has had throughout its history, nearly 6 million boarded a plane for the first time with us”, explained the Country Manager of JetSMART Colombia, Mario García.

JetSMART Colombia has fifteen domestic routes; along with seven international routes from the Peruvian, Chilean and Argentine subsidiaries. The Colombian subsidiary is considering exploiting the foreign market in the medium term. Projections to begin international flights are set for early 2025. “The goal is to have a more robust route network and to begin flying internationally with the Colombian airline at the beginning of 2025”, said Mario García.
