Aerolínea registra pérdidas cuatriplican en primer semestre 2024

GOL Linhas Aéreas una de las tres grandes aerolíneas de Brasil, registró en el Primer Semestre 2024 un resultado negativo ajustado de R$ 1.174 millones de Reales/US$ 214 millones Dólares, un valor cuatro veces superior a las pérdidas del mismo período del año 2023.

La compañía, en un comunicado divulgado este Miércoles 14/08, atribuyó el mal resultado a la caída del número de pasajeros transportados en el período, que fue de 13,9 millones, un 6,5 % menos que en los seis primeros meses de 2023. La aerolínea también señaló como otra causa la reducción del 7,2 % en la oferta de sillas disponibles por kilómetro, en parte por el cierre de las operaciones del aeropuerto de Porto Alegre, debido a las inundaciones causadas por las fuertes lluvias en el sur de Brasil, entre Abril y Mayo 2024. Según el balance trimestral, los ingresos brutos de la aerolínea bajaron en el interanual un 4,6 %, hasta los R$ 8.651 millones de Reales/US$ 1.581 millones Dólares. El Ebitda recurrente (resultado operacional sin eventos extraordinarios) se redujo en el Primer Semestre 2024 un 0,5 % hasta R$ 2.174 millones Reales/US$ 397,4 millones Dólares.

La aerolínea brasileña, que forma parte del Grupo Abra, junto con la colombiana Avianca Airlines, se acogió en Enero 2024 al Capítulo 11 de la Ley de Quiebras de Estados Unidos, y fue autorizada a contraer algunos créditos para garantizar sus operaciones.

Airline posts quadrupling losses in first half of 2024

GOL Linhas Aéreas, one of the three major airlines in Brazil, recorded a negative adjusted result of R$ 1,174 million Real/US$ 214 million Dollars in the first half of 2024, a value four times higher than the losses in the same period of 2023.

The company, in a statement released this Wednesday 08/14, attributed the poor result to the drop in the number of passengers transported in the period, which was 13.9 million, 6.5% less than in the first six months of 2023. The airline also pointed out as another cause the 7.2% reduction in the supply of available seats per kilometer, partly due to the closure of operations at the Porto Alegre airport, due to flooding caused by heavy rains in southern Brazil, between April and May 2024. According to the quarterly balance sheet, the airline’s gross revenues fell 4.6% year-on-year to R$ 8,651 million/US$ 1,581 million. Recurring EBITDA (operating result without extraordinary events) fell 0.5% in the first half of 2024 to R$ 2,174 million/US$ 397.4 million.

The Brazilian airline, which is part of the Abra Group, together with the Colombian Avianca Airlines, filed for Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Law in January 2024, and was authorized to take out some loans to guarantee its operations.
