Aerolínea chilena multada por Migraciones

La línea aérea JetSMART Airlines Chile recibió una multa de CH$ 98 millones de Pesos Chilenos por parte del Servicio Nacional de Migraciones de Chile, a raíz de transportar pasajeros extranjeros sin la documentación requerida por las autoridades chilenas. Esto corresponde a viajes realizados durante el 2023, de los cuales 84 son las personas en infracción.

“Las multas que nosotros les cobramos a los medios de transporte, lo que buscan es que no se repita, de manera de atenuarlos. Tenemos un proyecto de ley que está en la Comisión de Gobierno del Congreso, que busca aumentar el volumen de las multas, para los medios de transporte, ya sean aéreos o terrestres”, señaló el Director del organismo estatal de Migraciones, Luis Thayer.

Desde la aerolínea señalaron que las personas movilizadas sin documentos, corresponden al 0,02% del total que viajó a Chile, durante todo el 2023. Asimismo, desde la empresa reconocieron que no han realizado el pago de la sanción económica, pero que llegaron a un acuerdo con la autoridad migratoria. En tanto, de los 84 pasajeros, ninguno fue admitido en territorio nacional por la Policía de Investigaciones. Finalmente, en el comunicado reconocieron que han tomado medidas correctivas y preventivas adicionales.

The airline JetSMART Airlines Chile received a fine of CH$ 98 million Chilean Pesos from the National Immigration Service of Chile, as a result of transporting foreign passengers without the documentation required by the Chilean authorities. This corresponds to trips made during 2023, of which 84 are the people in violation.

“The fines that we charge to the means of transport, what they seek is that it is not repeated, in order to attenuate them. We have a bill that is in the Government Commission of Congress, which seeks to increase the volume of fines, for means of transport, whether air or land”, said the Director of the state Immigration agency, Luis Thayer.

The airline stated that the number of people traveling without documents corresponds to 0.02% of the total number of people who traveled to Chile throughout 2023. The company also acknowledged that they have not paid the financial penalty, but that they have reached an agreement with the immigration authority. Of the 84 passengers, none were admitted into the national territory by the Investigative Police. Finally, in the statement they acknowledged that they have taken additional corrective and preventive measures.
