Amplía rutas internacionales con seis nuevos destinos
La aerolínea griega Sky Express ha anunciado un nuevo impulso en la conectividad internacional al agregar seis nuevas rutas a su programación desde Atenas, Grecia. Esta expansión se produce como parte de los esfuerzos de la aerolínea para impulsar su flota y ofrecer más opciones de viaje a los pasajeros.
A partir del 14 de Octubre de 2024, Sky Express comenzará a volar desde Atenas (ATH) a Tirana (TIA), Albania. Esta ruta operará cinco veces por semana, todos los Lunes, Martes, Jueves, Viernes y Domingos, utilizando aeronaves ATR72-600.
El 5 de Noviembre de 2024, la aerolínea lanzará su ruta Atenas/ATH—Ereván/EVN a Armenia, que desarrollará tres frecuencias semanales los Martes, Jueves y Domingos. Esta ruta será atendida por un Airbus A320neo. Al día siguiente, el 06/11, se introducirán los vuelos desde Atenas (ATH) a Tiflis (TBS), Georgia, con tres vuelos por semana los Lunes, Miércoles y Sábados en Airbus A320neo. La aerolínea incorporará un servicio diario Atenas/ATH—Estambul/SAW a partir del 12 de Noviembre de 2024 empleando Airbus A320neo y se enfrentará a una dura competencia de las aerolíneas establecidas, incluidos dos vuelos diarios de Aegean Airlines, cuatro vuelos diarios de Turkish Airlines y dos de Pegasus Airlines, todos aterrizando en el aeropuerto Sabiha Gökçen, en el lado asiático de la ciudad.
El 2 de Diciembre de 2024, Sky Express iniciará su ruta Atenas/ATH—Praga/PRG, operando cuatro veces por semana los Lunes, Martes, Jueves y Sábados con aviones Airbus A320neo. Además, a partir del 03/12, la aerolínea también ofrecerá cuatro vuelos semanales en la ruta Atenas/ATH—Viena/VIE, que operarán los Martes, Jueves, Sábados y Domingos empleando narrowbodies A320neo.

Greek airline Sky Express has announced a further boost in international connectivity by adding six new routes to its schedule from Athens, Greece. This expansion comes as part of the airline’s efforts to boost its fleet and offer more travel options to passengers.
Starting October 14, 2024, Sky Express will begin flying from Athens (ATH) to Tirana (TIA), Albania. This route will operate five times a week, every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, using ATR72-600 aircraft.
On November 5, 2024, the airline will launch its Athens/ATH—Yerevan/EVN route to Armenia, which will develop three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. This route will be served by an Airbus A320neo. The following day, 06/11, flights will be introduced from Athens (ATH) to Tbilisi (TBS), Georgia, with three flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays on Airbus A320neos. The airline will introduce a daily Athens/ATH—Istanbul/SAW service from 12 November 2024 using Airbus A320neos and will face stiff competition from established airlines, including two daily flights by Aegean Airlines, four daily flights by Turkish Airlines and two by Pegasus Airlines, all landing at Sabiha Gökçen Airport on the Asian side of the city.
On 2 December 2024, Sky Express will launch its Athens/ATH—Prague/PRG route, operating four times per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays using Airbus A320neo aircraft. In addition, starting 03/12, the airline will also offer four weekly flights on the Athens/ATH—Vienna/VIE route, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays using A320neo narrowbodies.
Sky Express continues its expansion with the aim of strengthening its presence in the competitive international aviation market, providing travelers with more options and a careful service.

Impulsan compre aviones Embraer de aerolíneas nacionales
El Gobierno de Brasil ha anunciado que impulsa una política pública para incentivar que las principales aerolíneas privadas nacionales compren aviones de la constructora brasileña Embraer SA, afirmó el Martes 13/08 el Ministro de Puertos y Aeropuertos, Silvio Costa Filho.
«En Estados Unidos el 50 por ciento de los aviones es Boeing, en Europa el 50 por ciento es Airbus y en Brasil el 12 por ciento es Embraer. Es incomprensible», dijo el Ministro Silvio Costa durante una rueda de prensa con corresponsales extranjeros, en la cual ratificó que existió una negociación con la empresa brasileño-chilena LATAM Airlines Brasil para que pueda adquirir aviones construidos en Embraer, cuya planta está ubicada en el Estado de São Paulo. La compañía aeroespacial Embraer es un activo de Brasil debido a sus cadenas productivas y generación de valor, además de ser la líder mundial en aviación ejecutiva y la tercera constructora a nivel mundial.
LATAM Airlines Brasil había anunciado anteriormente la evaluación de una Carta de Intención de adquirir aeronaves Embraer E2-JETs en el marco de una renovación de flota.
El Gobierno del Presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva tomó la decisión de estimular la agenda de crédito para que las aerolíneas adquieran aeronaves de Embraer para el transporte de pasajeros. En ese marco, explicó que existe una agenda del Banco Nacional de Desarrollo Económico y Social (BNDES), un banco Estatal de fomento para que las aerolíneas brasileñas puedan adquirir aviones de Embraer.
Las aerolíneas brasileñas GOL y LATAM Airlines Brasil utilizan aviones Boeing y Airbus respectivamente, mientras que la tercera empresa líder, Azul Linhas Aéreas, vuela con aeronaves de Embraer. El Estado brasileño participa de la composición accionaria de Embraer.

Aerolínea chilena inaugura cuarto destino en Argentina
SKY Airline ha anunciado el 13/08 la ruta Santiago de Chile/SCL—El Calafate/FTE incorporando el cuarto destino en Argentina. La aerolónea low cost realizará frecuencias estacionales con vuelos programados entre el 18 de Diciembre de 2024 hasta el 16 de Marzo de 2025, permitiendo desarrollar la temporada estival 2024-2025. La ruta tendrá dos frecuencias semanales (2Frq/S)

On 08/13, SKY Airline announced the Santiago de Chile/SCL—El Calafate/FTE route, incorporating the fourth destination in Argentina. The low-cost airline will operate seasonal frequencies with flights scheduled between December 18, 2024, and March 16, 2025, allowing the development of the 2024-2025 summer season. La aerolínea AirBaltic confirma el 13/08 un pedido adicional de diez Airbus A220-300 (10). Esta nueva orden representa el cuarto pedido realizado por la compañía que aumentará el pedido en firme total de la aerolínea a noventa (90) aviones regionales A220. airBaltic, que opera una sólida flota de cuarenta y cuatro A220-300 (44) operativos, es actualmente el mayor cliente de A220 en Europa y el mayor operador de A220-300 en el mundo.
La aerolínea de bandera letona cuenta con una larga trayectoria en la operación del Airbus A220-300, habiendo sido su cliente de lanzamiento en 2016. Desde 2020, la aerolínea opera una flota exclusiva de A220. Con un pedido en firme de 90 A220-300, airBaltic refuerza aún más su posición como el mayor cliente del A220 en Europa.

El A220, que combina una aerodinámica de última generación, materiales avanzados y los motores GTF™ de última generación de Pratt & Whitney, ofrece a los clientes una huella de ruido un 50 % menor en comparación con los aviones de la generación anterior y unas emisiones de NOx un 40 % inferiores a las de los estándares del sector. El avión consume un 25 % menos de combustible y emite menos CO2 por asiento que los aviones de la generación anterior. A finales de julio, Airbus había conseguido más de 900 pedidos de unos 30 clientes para el A220, de los que ya se habían entregado unos 350. El A220 ya está en servicio con éxito en más de 1.400 rutas y cuenta con más de 20 operadores en todo el mundo.

AirBaltic confirmed on 13/08 an additional order for ten Airbus A220-300s (10). This new order represents the fourth order placed by the company which will increase the airline’s total firm order to ninety (90) A220 regional aircraft. Operating a strong fleet of forty-four (44) operational A220-300s, airBaltic is currently the largest A220 customer in Europe and the largest A220-300 operator in the world.
The Latvian flag carrier has a long history of operating the Airbus A220-300, having been its launch customer in 2016. Since 2020, the airline operates an exclusive fleet of A220s. With a firm order for 90 A220-300s, airBaltic further strengthens its position as the largest A220 customer in Europe.

Combining state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials, and Pratt & Whitney’s next-generation GTF™ engines, the A220 offers customers a 50% lower noise footprint compared to previous-generation aircraft and 40% lower NOx emissions than industry standards. The aircraft consumes 25% less fuel and emits less CO2 per seat than previous-generation aircraft. Like all Airbus aircraft, the A220 can now operate on up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Airbus aims to have all its aircraft able to operate on up to 100% SAF by 2030.
By the end of July, Airbus had secured more than 900 orders from around 30 customers for the A220, of which around 350 had already been delivered. The A220 is now successfully in service on more than 1,400 routes and has more than 20 operators worldwide.

Pedido por ocho aviones regionales E2-Jets última generación
La aerolínea Virgin Australia Airlines ha encomendado a la constructora Embraer SA ocho aviones E-190-E2 (8) de última generación que permitiría la actualización de su flota regional. La aerolínea con sede en Brisbane, Australia, no ha comunicado el precio de compra, pero los precios de entrega estimados se sitúan en torno a los US$ 300 millones de Dólares. El sector regional de Australia está viendo la llegada de aviones de nueva generación y ahora es el turno de Virgin Australia Regional de seleccionar el próximo tipo nuevo.
Virgin Australia ha estado estudiando la actualización de flota regional en un mercado muy competitivo como el australiano. El pedido en firme con Embraer de ocho E190-E2 permitirá reemplazar la flota de aviones Fokker 100 de larga duración. La aerolínea es actualmente una de las mayores compañías operadoras del avión jet de cien plazas holandés. Virgin Australia Airlines has ordered eight latest generation E-190-E2 (8) aircraft from the manufacturer Embraer SA, which will allow the update of its regional fleet. The Embraer E190-E2 will be configured in Embraer’s signature two-by-two seating and will operate regional flights for the airline. The aircraft has been certified to fly on blends of up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). In test flights, the E2 has demonstrated engine compatibility with 100% SAF, which will significantly help the carrier achieve its emissions targets in the coming years. The Embraer E190-E2 aircraft will be equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW1900G engines with an endurance of around six hours. The E190-E2s will complement the airline’s larger narrow-body aircraft and will be based in Perth, where they will be operated by Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA).
Deliveries of the new E190-E2 aircraft are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2025. They will be received at VARA’s new maintenance hangar at Perth Airport (PER), which is due to open later this year 2024.
Virgin Australia Group CEO Jayne Hrdlicka noted how the new aircraft would improve performance, reliability, and customer comfort in Western Australia: «When the new E190-E2 enters service from October 2025, it will become the first new aircraft in the Western Australian charter market this century. The E190-E2 is the most fuel-efficient aircraft in its segment and will reduce emissions by approximately 30 per cent compared to the outgoing F100. These aircraft also feature significantly lower noise profiles and improved passenger comfort. When the E190-E2 joins the fleet late next year, it will predominantly operate charter flights for Western Australia. VARA, reinforcing its position as a leading operator in the Western Australian charter market. This is a major vote of confidence by Virgin Australia Group in our charter business and the Western Australian market”.
Virgin Australia Modernisation The Embraer order is part of a wider group-wide fleet growth and renewal programme that includes the acquisition of new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft and the renewal of the airline’s existing 737 fleet.
Western Australia Deputy Premier and Treasurer, Minister for Transport and Minister for Tourism, Rita Saffioti, noted how the order will benefit the local economy: “This is a significant investment in our state’s regional aviation sector and will help increase the number of jobs available in Western Australia. Embraer E2-JETs boom Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer SA continues an upward order boom heading into 3Q2024, heralding the potential for new orders for the remainder of the current year. The aircraft manufacturer has steadily increased its aircraft deliveries and has secured a number of new orders in recent months.
Virgin Australia’s announcement follows an upward order backlog. In April 2024, American Airlines placed a mega-order for 90 Embraer E175s, with purchase rights for an additional 43 aircraft. LOT Polish Airlines, the original launch customer for the E-Jets line, has ordered three new-generation E195-E2 (3) aircraft from Embraer in May 2024 with the announcement of three to be added to the fleet, the first of which was delivered less than three months later. In June 2024, Mexicana de Aviación placed an order for ten E190-E2 (10) and ten E195-E2 (10) aircraft. Together, these orders have raised the manufacturer’s order book to an all-time high.
The announcement of the order by Virgin Australia has allowed the Brazilian manufacturer to consolidate its position as the world’s third-largest manufacturer in 2024. The E2-Jets operator customer base will have almost doubled in the last two years, allowing the expansion of the E2-JET line worldwide.

It has been certified to fly on blends of up to 50% SAF and has demonstrated through test flights the engine’s operability on 100% SAF.
Embraer is committed to developing products, solutions, and technologies to contribute to the aviation industry’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Embraer aims to be carbon-neutral by 2040 and achieve carbon-neutral growth from 2022. It plans to implement 25% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) use in its operations by 2040 and 100% renewable energy sources by 2030.
Since the first Bandeirante took to the skies of Australia in 1978, Embraer has firmly established its presence there with close to 50 aircraft currently operating in the country, making it one of the largest fleets of E-Jets in the Asia-Pacific region.

Aeronave ATR 72 sufrió tailstrike en Marzo 2024
La tragedia aérea del vuelo 2Z2283 de la aerolínea VoePass Linhas Aereas de un ATR-72-212A, matrícula PS-VPB que realizaba el vuelo 2Z-2283 de Cascavel (PR) a São Paulo/Guarulhos (SP), Brasil, con 58 pasajeros y 4 tripulantes, estaba en la aproximación inicial alrededor de FL170, cuando la aeronave giró fuera de control y se estrelló en una zona residencial en Vila Santa Fe, Vinhedo (SP) a unas 7 millas náuticas al sureste del Aeropuerto de Viracopos y a unas 40 millas náuticas al noroeste del Aeropuerto de Guarulhos, coordenadas aproximadas S23.050 W47.020, alrededor de las 13:22L/16:22Z.
El 12 de Agosto de 2024, los medios de comunicación brasileños informaron que la aeronave había estado en problemas desde el 11 de Marzo de 2024, cuando sufrió un golpe en la cola que sufrió daños estructurales. El ATR-72-212A, matrícula PS-VPB que realizaba el vuelo 2Z-2290 de Recife (PE) a Salvador (BA), Brasil, estaba en ruta cuando la tripulación recibió una indicación de cantidad hidráulica baja, la tripulación trabajó en las listas de verificación relacionadas y continuó hacia el destino. La aeronave aterrizó en la Pista 10 de Salvador, sin embargo, la cola tocó la superficie de la pista (Tailstrike).

On August 12, 2024, Brazilian media reported that the aircraft had been in trouble since March 11, 2024, when it suffered a tail strike that sustained structural damage. The ATR-72-212A, registration PS-VPB operating flight 2Z-2290 from Recife (PE) to Salvador (BA), Brazil, was en route when the crew received a low hydraulic quantity indication, the crew worked through the related checklists and continued to the destination. The aircraft landed on Runway 10 in Salvador, however, the tail touched the runway surface (Tailstrike).
The aircraft was unable to continue service, remaining grounded in Salvador, Bahia, until March 28, 2024, then transported to VoePass maintenance facilities in Ribeirão Preto (SP) and remaining there until July 9, 2024. Upon its return to service four months later and one month before the accident of flight 2Z-2283, the ERS complained that the air conditioning system was not working with incredible heat on board.

Boeing rediseñará arquitectura fuselaje para evitar explosiones
The Boeing Company ha anunciado planes para implementar cambios en el diseño de las aeronaves 737 MAX para evitar futuros reventones en los paneles de la Cabina de Pasajeros tras el incidente del vuelo AS1282 de un Boeing 737-9 MAX de Alaska Airlines en Enero 2024.
El anuncia se ha hecho público después de las Audiencias de la Junta Nacional de Seguridad en el Transporte (NTSB), que duraron dos días y profundizaron en la emergencia en el aire que ha dañado gravemente la reputación de Boeing. Las audiencias en curso examinaron varias áreas clave, incluidos los procesos de fabricación e inspección del 737, los sistemas de gestión de seguridad y calidad, la supervisión de la Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) y problemas específicos relacionados con la instalación y extracción del Tapón de Anclaje de la Puerta Posterior de las aeronaves.

Boeing to redesign fuselage architecture to prevent explosions
The Boeing Company has announced plans to implement changes to the design of 737 MAX aircraft to prevent future blowouts of the Passenger Cabin panels following the incident on Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-9 MAX flight AS1282 in January 2024.
The announcement has been made public after the two-day National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) hearings, which delved into the airborne emergency that has severely damaged Boeing’s reputation. The ongoing hearings examined several key areas, including the 737’s manufacturing and inspection processes, safety and quality management systems, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) oversight, and specific issues related to the installation and removal of the aircraft’s Rear Door Anchor Plug.
Boeing Senior Vice President of Quality Elizabeth Lund revealed during the hearing that the company is developing design modifications. Boeing expects to implement the modifications within a year and subsequently modernize the entire fleet. «The design changes will ensure that the door stopper cannot be closed if there is a problem until it is securely fastened», the Quality Department said. This comes after investigators discovered that the Mid-Exit Door Stopper (MED) on the Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft with registration N704AL and MSN 67501 was missing four crucial bolts.
The NTSB and Boeing have not yet determined who was responsible for removing and reinstalling the Door Stopper during the production process of the affected aircraft, as the paper trail of N704AL’s maintenance records and video footage of its production line are missing.

Singapore Airlines detiene vuelo Quinta Libertad a Houston
Singapore Airlines ha anunciado el 12 de Agosto de 2024 que ha suspendido la ruta hacia Houston, Texas, Estados Unidos. El servicio conecta Singapur/SIN—Manchester/MAN—Houston/IAH. A partir del 1 de Abril de 2025, la aerolínea cesará sus operaciones en el tramo de Manchester (MAN) hacia Houston (IAH), reduciendo uno de sus vuelos de Quinta Libertad a Estados Unidos.
La aerolínea decidió cancelar la conexión de Houston como parada final en Manchester, Reino Unido. El abandono del destino Houston obedece a consecuencia del colapso de los mercados de petróleo y gas en el hub de Texas.
