Air China confirma compra 100 aviones COMAC C919

La aerolínea Air China confirmó la compra de cien (100) aeronaves COMAC C919, el avión de pasajeros de desarrollo de cosecha china con el que el gigante asiático quiere competir con el duopolio de los Boeing 737 y los Airbus A320. En un comunicado remitido anoche a la bolsa de Hong Kong, la compañía aérea confirmó el acuerdo y especificó que estos cien aviones serán entregados en lotes entre 2024 y 2031 por el fabricante estatal chino.

Este avión, diseñado para rivalizar directamente con los Boeing 737 y los Airbus A320, es la gran apuesta china en el sector aeronáutico, que entra dentro del segmento de aviones de fuselaje estrecho, un mercado altamente competitivo.

El C919, cuyo desarrollo se prolongó durante más de catorce años, llevó a cabo en Mayo de 2023 su primer vuelo comercial, operado por la estatal China Eastern Airlines, a la que han sido entregadas las primeras cuatro unidades, que han transportado actualmente a miles de pasajeros en rutas que unen Shanghái con Chengdu y Pekín.

El C919 puede acomodar entre 158 y 192 asientos y tiene un alcance de entre 4.075 y 5.555 kilómetros. El objetivo de las autoridades chinas es que logre un 10% de la cuota de mercado de aviación comercial en el país hacia 2025, habiendo recibido más de un millar de pedidos, principalmente de aerolíneas del gigante asiático.

Además, la Administración de Aviación Civil de China (CAAC) avanzó a principios de 2024 con la promoción del reconocimiento internacional del C919 con el objetivo de obtener certificaciones de organismos como la Agencia Europea de Seguridad Aérea (EASA). El año pasado COMAC aseguró que su objetivo es alcanzar una producción anual de unos 150 de estos aviones durante los próximos cinco años, un importante objetivo para una industria emergente del gigante aeroespacial chino.

The C919, whose development lasted more than fourteen years, carried out its first commercial flight in May 2023, operated by the state-owned China Eastern Airlines, to which the first four units have been delivered, which have currently transported thousands of passengers on routes linking Shanghai with Chengdu and Beijing.

The C919 can accommodate between 158 and 192 seats and has a range of between 4,075 and 5,555 kilometers. The objective of the Chinese authorities is to achieve 10% of the commercial aviation market share in the country by 2025, having received more than a thousand orders, mainly from airlines of the Asian giant.
