Segundo incidente aéreo en meses

El vuelo UA1001 de United Airlines sufre un incidente alrededor de las 07:00 a.m. del Lunes 08/07 al despegar del Aeropuerto Internacional de Los Ángeles (LAX) hacia Denver (DEN) cuando una rueda se desprendió durante el despegue. El avión del incidente es un Boeing 757-200 que transportaba a 174 pasajeros y siete miembros de la tripulación.

La rueda fue recuperada y los funcionarios de la aerolínea confirmaron que no se reportaron heridos a nadie en el avión o en el suelo donde cayó la rueda. Otros incidentes
En Mayo 2024, un vuelo de United Airlines que despegó del Aeropuerto Internacional de San Francisco (SFO) fue desviado a Los Ángeles (LAX) después de perder un neumático durante el despegue que procedió a dañar varios vehículos estacionados en el aeropuerto. El neumático aterrizó en el estacionamiento de un empleado de SFO y no hubo heridos, confirmaron funcionarios del aeropuerto de SFO. Un portavoz de la aerolínea dijo que «el 777-200 tiene seis neumáticos en cada uno de sus dos puntales principales del tren de aterrizaje. La aeronave está diseñada para aterrizar de manera segura con neumáticos faltantes o dañados».

A principios de esa misma semana, otro vuelo de United Airlines que viajaba de Honolulu a San Francisco se encontró con una falla en el motor sobre el Océano Pacífico. United dijo que a pesar del retraso, la aeronave logró aterrizar de manera segura en el Aeropuerto Internacional de San Francisco casi una hora después del incidente.

United Airlines flight UA1001 suffered an incident around 7:00 a.m. on Monday 07/08 while taking off from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Denver (DEN) when a wheel broke off during takeoff. The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing 757-200 carrying 174 passengers and seven crew members.

The wheel was recovered and airline officials confirmed that no injuries were reported to anyone on the plane or on the ground where the wheel fell. The flight arrived safely at Denver International Airport just after 10:00 a.m., according to the airline. United Airlines has reported that the incident is under investigation.

Other incidents
In May 2024, a United Airlines flight taking off from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) was diverted to Los Angeles (LAX) after losing a tire during takeoff that proceeded to damage several vehicles parked at the airport. The tire landed in an SFO employee parking lot and there were no injuries, SFO airport officials confirmed. An airline spokesperson said that «the 777-200 has six tires on each of its two main landing gear struts. The aircraft is designed to land safely with missing or damaged tires».

Earlier that same week, another United Airlines flight traveling from Honolulu to San Francisco encountered engine failure over the Pacific Ocean. United said that despite the delay, the aircraft managed to land safely at San Francisco International Airport nearly an hour after the incident.
