Expande servicios desde Bradley International Airport

Avelo Airlines anunció una importante expansión el Miércoles 09/10 por la mañana. A partir de Noviembre 2024, la aerolínea ofrecerá servicios de ida y vuelta a cinco destinos nacionales y dos internacionales desde el Aeropuerto Internacional Bradley (BDL). Desde Bradley, Avelo volará a Montego Bay, Jamaica; Cancún, México; Houston, Charlotte y Wilmington, Carolina del Norte; y Lakeland y Daytona Beach, Florida.

El CEO de Avelo, Andrew Levy, ha anuncio la expanción de rutas que permitirá aumentar el flujo de pasajeros desde el Aeropuert Bradley, localizado en Windsor Locks, Connecticut, Estados Unidos.

Avelo presentará las nuevas rutas nacionales e internacionales, que operarán dos veces por semana, de la siguiente manera: Charlotte/Concord (JQF) North Carolina a partir del 07/11, Wilmington (ILM) North Carolina a partir del 07/11, Houston (HOU) Texas a partir del 08/11, Daytona Beach (DAB) Florida a partir del 08/11, Orlando/Lakeland (LAL) Florida a partir del 08/11, Montego Bay (MBJ) Jamaica a partir del 16/11, Cancún (CUN) México a partir del 20/11.

«Tenemos una población antillana que ha contribuido mucho a esta ciudad, a esta región, a esta economía. Esta conexión amplía una conexión profunda y sincera entre Hartford y Jamaica», dijo el Alcalde de Hartford, Arunan Arulampalam.

Andrew Levy dijo que estos vuelos crearán unos 80 puestos de trabajo en Bradley: «Vamos a estar ahí a largo plazo. Vamos a tener pilotos, auxiliares de vuelo, técnicos de aeronaves, mecánicos y la gente que ayuda a nuestros clientes».

Una ley estatal de 2023 que pausa el impuesto al combustible para aviones durante dos años es una gran razón por la que pudieron expandirse. El Presidente de la Cámara de Representantes, Matt Ritter (D-Hartford), dijo que Avelo se acercó por primera vez a su oficina hace un año y medio para pedir reducir el impuesto, prometiendo vuelos internacionales. «A veces nunca estás seguro de si cuando una entidad o empresa te dice eso, si realmente van a hacer eso, o si va a ir a los accionistas o al resultado final. Aquí estamos, fieles a su palabra», dijo Matt Ritter.

«Este es un tráfico de doble sentido; tenemos la oportunidad de ir a Jamaica, y mucha gente viene, viene al estado de todo el país. Todas las empresas con las que hablo dicen que es fácil entrar y salir de Connecticut, y cada día es más fácil», dijo el Gobernador de Connecticut, Ned Lamont. El Gobernador dijo que ahora hay alrededor de 60 destinos de vuelo desde Connecticut, el doble que hace cinco años.

Avelo Airlines announced a major expansion on Wednesday morning, October 9. Beginning in November 2024, the airline will offer roundtrip service to five domestic and two international destinations from Bradley International Airport (BDL). From Bradley, Avelo will fly to Montego Bay, Jamaica; Cancun, Mexico; Houston, Charlotte, and Wilmington, North Carolina; and Lakeland and Daytona Beach, Florida.

Avelo CEO Andrew Levy has announced the expansion of routes that will allow for increased passenger flow from Bradley Airport, located in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, United States.

Avelo will introduce the new domestic and international routes, which will operate twice weekly, as follows: Charlotte/Concord (JQF) North Carolina beginning 11/07, Wilmington (ILM) North Carolina beginning 11/07, Houston (HOU) Texas beginning 11/08, Daytona Beach (DAB) Florida beginning 11/08, Orlando/Lakeland (LAL) Florida beginning 11/08, Montego Bay (MBJ) Jamaica beginning 11/16, Cancun (CUN) Mexico beginning 11/20.

«We have a West Indian population that has contributed so much to this city, to this region, to this economy. This connection expands a deep and sincere connection between Hartford and Jamaica», said Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam.

Andrew Levy said these flights will create about 80 jobs in Bradley. «We’re going to be there for the long haul. We’re going to have pilots, flight attendants, aircraft technicians, mechanics and the people who help our customers».

A 2023 state law pausing the jet fuel tax for two years is a big reason they were able to expand. House Speaker Matt Ritter (D-Hartford) said Avelo first approached his office a year and a half ago to ask to lower the tax, promising international flights. «Sometimes you’re never sure if when an entity or company tells you that, if they’re actually going to do that, or if it’s going to go to the shareholders or the bottom line. Here we are, true to their word», Matt Ritter said.

«This is two-way traffic; we have the opportunity to go to Jamaica, and a lot of people come, they come to the state from all over the country. Every company I talk to says it’s easy to get in and out of Connecticut, and it’s getting easier every day», Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont said. The Governor said there are now about 60 flight destinations from Connecticut, double the number from five years ago.
