Rutas internacionales desde aeropuertos secundarios
La aerolínea colombiana Avianca Airlines iniciará vuelos internacionales desde aeropuertos secundarios del país como Bucaramanga, Pereira y Santa Marta, además de ampliar su red en el extranjero desde Cartagena. La principal línea aérea de Colombia está ampliando la conectividad punto a punto desde los aeropuertos regionales en Colombia con el lanzamiento de seis rutas internacionales sin escalas, así como la adición de dos servicios domésticos. Las incorporaciones a la red harán que el miembro de Star Alliance ofrezca nuevas opciones de vuelos desde Bucaramanga/BGA, Cartagena/CTG, Pereira/PEI y Santa Marta/SMR a destinos en Brasil, Chile y los Estados Unidos. Cuatro de las seis rutas internacionales comenzarán en diciembre, y las dos restantes comenzarán el mes siguiente. Los seis utilizarán aviones de la familia Airbus A320.

Rutas internacionales

Ambos servicios comenzarán el 8 de Diciembre de 2022, operando cuatro vuelos semanales (4Frq/S) a Miami y dos frecuencias semanales (2Frq/S) a Nueva York. Bucaramanga en el Departamento de Santander recibirá una nueva ruta a Miami a partir del 08/12, operando tres veces por semana (3Frq/S). Santa Marta, una ciudad en el Mar Caribe en el departamento norteño de Magdalena, también se conectará dos veces por semana (2Frq/S) a Miami a partir del 10/12.
Las dos nuevas rutas internacionales restantes comenzarán en Enero de 2023, uniendo Cartagena con São Paulo Guarulhos/GRU a partir del 10 de Enero de 2023 y Santiago de Chile/SCL el día 11/01. International routes from secondary airports
The Colombian airline Avianca Airlines will start international flights from secondary airports in the country such as Bucaramanga, Pereira and Santa Marta, in addition to expanding its network abroad from Cartagena. Colombia’s leading airline is expanding point-to-point connectivity from regional airports in Colombia with the launch of six nonstop international routes, as well as the addition of two domestic services. The additions to the network will see the Star Alliance member offer new flight options from Bucaramanga/BGA, Cartagena/CTG, Pereira/PEI and Santa Marta/SMR to destinations in Brazil, Chile and the United States. The latest growth comes as the airline looks to jumpstart its planned merger with Brazil’s GOL Linhas Aéreas and Colombian low-cost carriers Viva Air and SKY Airline to form the Abra Group holding company, creating one of the largest airline networks in Latin America. Abra will have a 10% stake in Chilean airline SKY Airline.
International routes
From Pereira, the capital of the Colombian department of Risaralda, located in the foothills of the Andes, two routes abroad to Miami/MIA and New York John F. Kennedy/JFK are being opened. Both services will begin on December 8, 2022, operating four weekly flights (4Feq/S) to Miami and two weekly frequencies (2Frq/S) to New York. Air Lease Corp. (ALC) y la aerolínea canadiense Air Transat acordaron el alquiler de cuatro Airbus A321XLR (4), que serán incorporados a la aerolínea entre finales de 2025 y hasta 2026. Delta Air Lines dará un gran impulso a su red de vuelos a Brasil a partir de finales de Octubre 2022, anunció la aerolínea estadounidense.
A partir del 29 de Octubre de 2022, los vuelos entre los aeropuertos de Guarulhos/GRU y John F. United Airlines y Emirates Airline anunciaron el Miércoles 14/09 una nueva asociación tras haber permanecido roto el vínculo comercial por varios años. La ruta New York/Newark/EWR—Dubái/DXB será lanzada el 25 de Marzo de 2023 con una frecuencia diaria (1Frq/D). El vuelo operará con el siguiente horario: UA164 Newark a Dubai saliendo 10:15 PM llegando 07:40 PM (+1); UA163 Dubai a Newark saliendo 02:15 AM llegando 09:05 AM. El vuelo de 6,852 millas está bloqueado a las 13 horas 25 minutos en dirección este y 14 horas 50 minutos en dirección oeste. El vuelo será operado utilizando un Boeing 777-200ER, con 276 asientos. Esto incluye 50 asientos de clase ejecutiva (Polaris), 24 asientos económicos premium (Premium Plus), 46 asientos económicos con espacio adicional para las piernas (Economy Plus) y 156 asientos económicos regulares.

This route marks the first time that United Airlines will fly to Dubai since early 2016. Until that time, the airline operated a route between Washington and Dubai. That was around the time that the Big Three US carriers got into a dispute with the Big Three Gulf Airlines.
Emirates Airline and United Airlines have announced a new partnership, including a codeshare agreement and reciprocal benefits for frequent flyers. El CEO de United Airlines, Scott Kirby, ha enviado una solicitud al Administrador de la Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Billy Nolen, para solicitarle que se aumente la capacidad del Aeropuerto Nueva York/John F. Kennedy/JFK y les asigne nuevos slots para varias temporadas, caso contrario, la aerolínea abandonaría su operación en la terminal a finales de Octubre 2022. “Si no podemos obtener slots adicionales para múltiples temporadas, deberemos suspender el servicio en JFK a fines de Octubre. Este sería un paso duro y frustrante, y uno que trabajamos fuertemente para evitar. Si nuestro último pedido es aprobado y la FAA puede ofrecerle a United una distribución temporal que contemple varias temporadas, estamos preparados para expandirnos y brindar a los clientes una oferta más competitiva en JFK”, señaló el CEO Scott Kirby.
En los últimos meses las aerolíneas estadounidenses han hecho algunos recortes de vuelos, que posiblemente extenderán hasta la temporada de fin de año para así ser más eficientes con el personal disponible. Sin embargo, esto provocará que se disparen las tarifas pues las compañías aéreas tendrán una demanda limitada y sin rentabilidad.

Empleados mantuvieron reclamos por 11 años en AICM
Tras once años de huelga ininterrumpida en la Terminal 1 del Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México/AICM, los ex empleados y jubilados de la antigua aerolínea Mexicana de Aviación desalojaron las instalaciones. Los ex-trabajadores y jubilados de la antigua aerolínea mantuvieron reclamos para exigir a las autoridades y a la compañía aérea que fueran debidamente indemnizados luego de que la empresa quebrara en 2010. Tras la falta de respuesta y atención por parte de las autoridades y organismos encargados de los derechos de los trabajadores, ellos decidieron instalarse en la terminal del aeropuerto durante lo que pensaban sería un corto tiempo. Sin embargo, esta espera del cumplimiento de sus derechos y sus pagos correspondientes se convirtió en una manifestación a lo largo de once años cunado se instalaron en 2011. Estos trabajadores fueron desalojados por la Marina dejando atrás el bastión de los reclamos.
El pasado 28 de Agosto del 2022 se cumplieron doce años de la quiebra de la aerolínea Mexicana de Aviación cesando sus operaciones y declarándose posteriormente la bancarrota. Mexicana fue fundada el 12 de Julio 1921, y se convirtió en la cuarta aerolínea más antigua del mundo, detrás de KLM Airlines (Países Bajos), Avianca Airlines (Colombia) y Qantas Airways (Australia). Inicialmente denominada Compañía Mexicana de Transportación fue la primer aerolínea del país y comenzó operaciones rápidamente. Para 1924, según el portal en periodismo aeronáutico Transponder 1200, la aerolínea Mexicana de Aviación inauguró operaciones con su primer vuelo ruta México—Tampico, y poco a poco fue creciendo hasta rápidamente contar con diez aviones con rutas nacionales e internacionales. Luego de consolidarse finalmente como la Compañía Mexicana de Aviación, el 3 de Enero de 1936, la aerolínea comenzó a gestionar vuelos internacionales, siendo Los Ángeles (LAX), Estados Unidos, su primer destino. Además, la aerolínea nacional fue la primera compañía extranjera en llegar a este aeropuerto. Luego quince años, en 1950, Mexicana comenzó a incluir paquetes todo pagado, lo que llamó la atención de muchos clientes a nivel nacional e internacional y ayudó a crecer a la compañía. Lo que también trajo consigo un incremento fuerte de personal que operaba en condiciones laborales óptimas ya que la aerolínea se encontraba en su mejor momento. Cincuenta años después, con la llegada de los años 2000’s, Mexicana comenzó a ampliar sus convenios, contratos y alianzas con otras compañías extranjeras de alto renombre. Asociándose con aerolíneas importantes como Copa Airlines, Iberia y más, también comenzó a ofrecer vuelos con escalas o destinos exclusivos, lo que continuó posicionándola dentro del mercado.
Si bien se colocó como la aerolínea más reconocida y cotizada a nivel nacional, también tomó lugar dentro de las clasificaciones internacionales. Condición que poco a poco fue perdiendo ya que para finales de la década de los dos mil, comenzó a ser del conocimiento público que la compañía estaba pasando por una situación financiera difícil. Finalmente, la aerolínea más antigua de México entró en concurso mercantil, oportunidad que se les otorga a las empresas que no están en condiciones de pagar sus deudas, de generar un acuerdo y evitar la quiebra (IMCO, 2010), con la finalidad de reestructurar su deuda y reiniciar actividades. Pero tras un largo proceso anunció la suspensión de sus operaciones, siendo un vuelo con ruta México—Toronto el último de la compañía.
Mexicana de Aviación suspendió operaciones el 28 de Agosto de 2010 y se declaró en quiebra en 2014. Este proceso estuvo plagado de controversias e información contradictoria, ya que se habló de que la quiebra fue planeada por lo mismos dueños, que posteriormente enfrentarían procesos legales derivados del mal manejo de la compañía aérea. Pero también se habló de inversionistas que tenían interés en capitalizar la aerolínea, lo que desafortunadamente no se concretó y se perdieron los contratos. La bancarrota de la aerolínea, según analistas y expertos en aviación, significó la pérdida de más de 200.000 empleos indirectos, que se generaban principalmente en la industria turística, en tanto, los empleos directos de la compañía, fueron alrededor de 8.000 trabajadores que fueron despedidos sin ningún tipo de indemnización. Una larga historia de una aerolínea emblemática, muy querida, pero con un final muy amargo.
