La aerolínea evalúa conectar Lima con Córdoba, Mendoza y Tucumán este año

Con la idea de fortalecer su ‘hub’ en Lima (que es uno de sus tres centros de conexiones en las Américas, aparte de San Salvador y Bogotá) la aerolínea Avianca está evaluando volar entre nuestra capital y tres destinos del interior de Argentina: las ciudades de Córdoba, Mendoza y Tucumán.

Así lo destacó Hernán Rincón, durante la celebración en Fráncfort (Alemania) de los 20 años de Star Alliance, la asociación global de 28 aerolíneas a la que Avianca pertenece desde hace un quinquenio.

“Es una alternativa que estamos manejando y que forma parte de nuestra estrategia de crecimiento en la región este año”, apuntó el ejecutivo. Además, confirmó que el grupo ha obtenido ya todos los permisos para hacerse de la operación de la aerolínea argentina Mac Air (ex propiedad de la familia del actual presidente de ese país, Mauricio Macri), con lo que comenzarán a volar allá –a nivel doméstico– como Avianca Argentina en apenas algunas semanas.

Rincón también anunció que iniciarán el proceso de fusión de las dos compañías hermanas que forman su grupo: Avianca Brasil y Avianca Colombia, con lo que sumarán una flota combinada de 230 aviones.

ALIANZA CON UNITED
El CEO de Avianca aprovechó su estancia en Fráncfort para reunirse con su par en United, el controversial Óscar Muñoz, con quien está coordinando la asociación estratégica entre ambas aerolíneas, a pesar de la negativa de uno de los socios de Avianca, el salvadoreño Roberto Kriete (ex propietario de TACA), quien ha interpuesto una denuncia en Estados Unidos para evitar que avancen estas negociaciones.

“Las conversaciones con United van bien encaminadas y, luego de que nos pongamos de acuerdo entre nuestras planas directivas, las respectivas juntas de accionistas deberán aprobar el trato, y recién entonces comenzaremos con el proceso de alianza”, explicó Rincón, y anticipó que, de iniciarse, todo el proceso podría tardar hasta tres años en finiquitarse, por lo menos.

RUTA NOCTURNA AL CUSCO
Respecto de la operación de Avianca dentro del Perú, donde es la tercera más importante del mercado con el 12,30% de participación, Rincón confirmó que están evaluando volar de noche al Cusco, aunque no precisó la fecha todavía.
