Miles de afectados por la caída del sistema informático internacional de British Airways

La aerolínea británica British Airways (BA) ha sufrido este sábado una caída de su sistema informático a nivel global por la que han cancelado todos sus vuelos desde los aeropuertos de Heathrow y Gatwick en Londres hasta las 18.00, así como desde Barajas. El fallo informático está provocando retrasos en su red a nivel mundial – la aerolínea vuela a más de 100 países- así como desde Barajas, donde este sábado había tres vuelos programados.

La compañía asegura que no hay «evidencias» de que esta avería se deba a un ciberataque, según Reuters. En Roma, Praga, Estocolmo y Málaga, también se han registrado demoras, según testimonios de pasajeros recogidos por la cadena británica BBC. Preguntada por cuántos pasajeros y vuelos había afectados y en cuántos países, una portavoz de la compañía se limita a remitir a sus comunicados y tuits. El último fue hacia las 12 del mediodía anunciando el fallo.

British Airways asegura que sus especialistas trabajan para resolver el problema «lo antes posible». «Por favor, no vengan a los aeropuertos. Sufrimos un importante fallo del sistema informático que está provocando problemas graves en nuestras operaciones de vuelo en todo el mundo», han pedido a los viajeros.

De momento, no se sabe cuántos vuelos están afectados, pero los pasajeros están informando en las redes sociales de retrasos en sus vuelos y de una situación de caos en los aeropuertos, donde hay largas filas para facturar. La página web de BA no está disponible en este momento y numerosos usuarios se han quejado de que tampoco han podido reservar o facturar mediante la aplicación de móvil de la compañía. Los problemas informáticos de la aerolínea coinciden con el inicio de una semana de vacaciones escolares en el Reino Unido, cuando muchas personas se disponen a salir de vacaciones. El próximo lunes es festivo en Londres.

Desde Iberia aseguran que los vuelos que a ellos les afectan son los que salen desde el aeropuerto de Heathrow de Londres porque utilizan el sistema de facturación de BA y que el primer vuelo que tenía que salir desde allí esta mañana ha despegado sin problemas.

BA, integrada en el grupo hispano-británico IAG —que incluye a las españolas Iberia y Vueling y a la irlandesa Aer Lingus—, no ha precisado cuántos de sus vuelos se han visto afectados por la caída del sistema ni tampoco la naturaleza del problema. Las compañías aéreas que forman parte de esta alianza han precisado que este problema informático solo está afectando los vuelos de British Airways.
