El Aeropuerto Internacional Rosario estará cerrado por espacio de tres días debido a refacciones en preparación al desembarco de nuevos operadores aéreos

A mediados de año, Latam Airlines sumará a su oferta de vuelos en Fisherton, cuatro frecuencias semanales a Santiago de Chile; mientras que Aerolíneas Argentinas hará lo propio con una conexión directa semanal a Ushuaia. Como ambas aerolíneas ya tienen oficinas y ventanilla en la terminal, no hará falta disponer de nuevos espacios. Sin embargo, en el Aeropuerto ya trabajan para hacerle lugar a las nuevas compañías aéreas que piden pista en la aeroestación.

Tal es el caso de la empresa aérea chilena Sky Airlines, que obtuvo el ok de la Administración Nacional de Aviación Civil (Anac) para operar un vuelo diario entre Rosario y Santiago. Si bien restan finiquitar procesos administrativos para concretar el arribo de la aerolínea, se están realizando reajustes de los espacios existentes para incorporar a Sky al predio, ya que hoy el Aeropuerto trabaja «con una capacidad muy ajustada».

Pero Sky Airlines no sería la única aerolínea con intenciones de empezar a despegar desde Fisherton este año. La boliviana Amaszonas elevó un pedido ante la ANAC para operar la ruta Rosario-Montevideo y Rosario-Punta del Este en temporada de verano; la sucesora de Sol Líneas Aéreas, Flyest, espera reactivar las rutas de la desaparecida compañía de Transatlántica y Avianca tiene en carpeta conectar Rosario con Buenos Aires (a través de Avian) y Fisherton con Tucumán.

Si bien la política de la nueva conducción del Aeropuerto local, encabezada por Matías Galíndez, apunta a profundizar el creciendo del tráfico aéreo, la infraestructura actual obliga a analizar con detenimiento los pasos a seguir. En el corto plazo, priorizarán las operaciones existentes de Aerolíneas Argentinas, Gol Líneas Aéreas, Latam y Copa; mientras que las nuevas compañías interesadas se irán sumando a medida que avancen las tareas de ampliación de la infraestructura. Si bien actualmente se están llevando a cabo importantes trabajos -incluso está previsto el cierre del Aeropuerto del 30 de mayo al 1 de junio por intervenciones sobre la pista y calles de rodaje-, el segundo semestre del año será clave para completar la rehabilitación de los espacios de plataforma y así habilitar mayor tránsito de aeronaves.

I think one of the potential developers that came forward indicated that they could not only construct the facility but they could bring financing which made them rather attractive because it brought the possibility of an immediate start to the facilities to the table,” Nicholas said.

He explained that should the negotiations conclude favourably, the tender process will be waived.

“To that extent, when that process is complete and we are satisfied that it creates the opportunity for [it to] start, then it may well be that we would consider asking within the tendering process for a waiver of tender, given that particular type of circumstance,” he said.

The minister said the tender process is typically waived when the financing of the project limits the options of contractors that can be chosen.

“When the airport (in Antigua) was being constructed, the funds to construct the airport came from the Chinese and they limited or funnelled you into a particular direction where you had very limited options in terms of who the contractor would be,” explained Nicholas.

Meanwhile, Nibbs said the drawings for the multi-million-dollar Paradise Found and Peace, Love and Happiness hotel projects in Barbuda are before the Development Control Authority (DCA) awaiting approval. Nibbs added that road construction which had begun on the sister isle shortly before the March 27 Barbuda Council elections is continuing in Barbuda.

El proyecto tendrá un costo aproximado de $163 millones. Este monto se desglosa de la siguiente manera: el Gobierno de Honduras desembolsará $23 millones, la empresa concesionaria aportará $87 millones y España, $53 millones a través del programa de reconversión de deuda con Honduras, según han publicado periódicos hondureños.

La construcción generará 3,500 empleos directos y 7,000 trabajos indirectos. “Este es un megaproyecto con una infraestructura enorme que potenciará la economía del país. Potenciará el sector logístico, desarrollará el sector agroindustrial de Comayagua y La Paz”, afirmó el director técnico de COALIANZA, Miguel Servellón, en declaraciones publicadas por el periódico La Prensa de Honduras el pasado 17 de abril.

El Gobierno de Honduras firmó el contrato de concesión con la empresa hondureña EMCO, S. A. de C. V., la que a su vez tiene una alianza con el operador del Aeropuerto Internacional de Múnich-Franz Joset Strauss, según ha publicado el periódico El Heraldo.

De acuerdo con los planes del vecino país, el nuevo aeropuerto se ubicará al lado del proyecto llamado corredor logístico, que consiste en la construcción, ampliación y mantenimiento de 391.8 km de una carretera que atravesará el país con el objetivo de conectar la región sur con la región norte, para integrar a los departamentos de Francisco Morazán, Valle, la Paz, Comayagua, Santa Bárbara y Cortés.

Honduras modernizará, así, su infraestructura aeroportuaria luego de que Toncontín, ubicado en la capital se quedó pequeño y que solo puede operar por la mañana y la tarde. El Aeropuerto de Palmerola operará las 24 horas durante los 365 días. En una primera etapa contará con siete mangas para conectarse con las aeronaves.

Palmerola, a través del canal seco que proyecta Honduras, quedaría a una hora de la frontera El Amatillo.

En contraste el nuevo aeropuerto estará muy alejado de la capital hondureña, a una hora con 2o minutos o 86 km de la ciudad destino, el estándar internacional considera que más de 40 km se considera un aeropuerto muy alejado, según El Heraldo.

El área de carga del Aeropuerto de Palmerola podría competir con la del Aeropuerto Internacional de El Salvador Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero (AIES-MOAR).
