Villa María, ruta pendiente de Avianca

AW | 2017 08 30 19:13 | AIRPORTS

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Villa María, pending route from Avianca

The Airport of Villa Maria, Argentina, continues without air services that connect it regionally

Since its inauguration, the air terminal only operates with private flights. The paralysis of Néstor Kirchner Airport is due to issues related to the Avianca company. For five months, no airline has been operating on air routes that link it with other cities.

The Municipality of Villa María has not yet been able to formalize the agreement with Avianca, supposedly for internal reasons of the firm, whose owner announced months ago that in July the operations in the country would begin with a flight to Reconquista, Province of Santa Fe, to later do it in a «progressive» To diverse localities, between which Villa María was included in the Province of Córdoba.

The head of Cabinet of Villa María, Héctor Muñoz, said that the goal of the municipality is that the airport is self-sustaining. The idea is to subsidize part of the ticket in the first quarter. Until April, when the terminal was paralyzed, the municipality always subsidized at least half of each ticket. Although they maintain that it is almost impossible for an airline to sustain the route to Villa Maria without support from the municipality would be impracticable. A \ W

South Africa considers merger SAA-SAExpress-Mango Airlines

The South African government has announced negotiations for the rescue of South African Airways

South African Airways bailout talks are moving forward. Public Business Minister Lynne Brown has announced that the South African government is considering a merger of three airlines to assist the administration and management of the state airline.

2013-02-20_13-19-39_South_Africa_-_Port_Elizabeth_Port_Elizabeth_Airport

Lynne Brown told the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) that the merger would see SAA, SA Express and low-cost carrier Mango, to unite resources and position the South African Airways airline again as a profitable airline. «Ideally, a 25% shareholder is needed to provide management and assistance,» said Lynne Brown. SAExpress executives are sharing with the committee to explain irregular spending by 2016. As state-owned companies face liquidity problems, Lynne Brown says the best solution would be to bring airlines under a single company. «The way airlines are structured right now, the business model does not make sense,» Brown added.

The merger of the airlines would allow SAExpress to better plan its routes and finance its own aircraft. «The answer to all this lies in how we rationalize the three companies and how we bring a 25% shareholder.» The airline is currently operating on secured loans with a government guarantee of R1.1 billion. Southwest recibe el Boeing 737 MAX

AW | 2017 08 30 00:40 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Southwest receives Boeing 737 MAX

Southwest Airlines has received its first Boeing 737-8 MAX without formal ceremony

The Texas-based line has set a milestone this Tuesday, August 29, 2017 with the introduction of the latest generation variant of the Boeing 737. Southwest Airlines silently received its first Boeing 737 MAX plane, canceling a celebration with employees at Dallas Airport. But due to the devastation due to Hurricane Harvey, the formal ceremony of delivery of the new equipment has had to be canceled.

The arrival of the Boeing 737-8 MAX to Southwest Airlines, with MSN registration: 42567 and the airline’s registration number: N8710M, this Tuesday, August 29 marks the beginning of the introduction of the new and last variant of the Boeing 737 line, Which has surpassed sales records at Boeing.

«We will continue our work to get the aircraft ready to enter service on Southwest Airlines on October 1, 2017. More delivery details will be available this week,» says a Southwest spokesman.

The 737-8 MAX operated a 3h 19min flight from Boeing Field to Dallas Love Field, where flight tracking website Flightradar24 shows its trajectory toward their new home.

The airline had originally planned an event on August 30 to celebrate the delivery of the planes, but canceled it to focus its efforts on recovering operations after Hurricane Harvey struck Texas over the weekend.

Southwest Airlines plans to launch nine 737-8 MAXs in service from October 1, and will add a tenth approximately one week later. It will end 2017 with 14 Boeing 737-8 MAX. The airline, which is the world’s largest 737 operator, has orders for 200 737 MAX aircraft, including 170 MAX 8 and 30 MAX 7.

Fleet renewal process
The MAX is entering the Southwest fleet while withdrawing its remaining 737 Classics, which will fly in the airline until September 29, 2017. About 30 737 classics will operate that day, the airline says at the International Aviation Forecast Summit Of the Boyd Group in Las Vegas. On September 30th, the airline will be a 737NG airline, before deploying the MAX 8 the next day.

«To respect that many of our people can not leave Houston or be affected, it just did not seem right to do so,» airline spokesman Dan Lansdon said of the ceremony scheduled for Wednesday.

Malindo Airways was the first airline to introduce the Boeing 737 MAX 42567, a Malaysian subsidiary of Lion Mentari Airlines PT.

Southwest still claims the launch customer title for the MAX 8 after placing the initial order in 2011, a role that has served three previous models of the 737 as the single-aisle’s largest buyer of the plane. The Dallas-based carrier has 200 of Max’s upgraded Boeing aircraft and plans to receive the first 14 this year.

The aircraft will debut in the United States on October 1, 2017 in a complex change as the carrier withdraws its remaining Boeing 737-300, the oldest aircraft in its fleet. The last flight of the oldest jets, known as the classics, will be on September 29, 2017.

The MAX brings fuel economy to Southwest and a break in maintenance costs as the Resultado de imagen para southwest airlines logoairline sheds a 737 model it has been using since Ronald Reagan was president. The newest 737 will burn more than 20 percent less fuel than retired jets soon, according to Southwest.

Uncertainty over the training requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration to fly the 737-300 fleet in comparison to the Max led to Southwest’s decision in April to remove the older aircraft early. Southwest and its union of pilots failed to agree on terms that would separate a group of airmen to fly only the 737-300 and simplify training for change in aircraft. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Justice Argentina to investigate security of the aviation system

The Argentine Justice will initiate an investigation to determine if the commercial aviation supports the expansion of the aerial market

A judge asked for reports from several state agencies and private companies with activity at airports to evaluate the support capacity of the air safety management system in Argentina.

Reports received from the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC), according to judicial sources, indicate that Ezeiza and Aeroparque airports are working to the limit of their capacity. That is why some regional flights that previously operated from and to Aeroparque will be derived to Ezeiza. To the current operating situation is added the expansion of the market announced by the national government from the beginning of the operations of granting air routes and more airlines, increasing a much greater demand in the air network of Argentina. The Presidential Terminal and a new hangar is projected in Aeroparque where the airplane that the Executive will buy will be put under maintenance, being able to congestion some operations.

The judge’s brief noted that «in summary, the documentation collected so far is not only illustrative of the arrival of so-called ‘low cost’ to the country, but also with respect to the different extremes that were already generating the collapse of Air operations, particularly in the Aeroparque ‘Jorge Newbery’, and which will result in the aforementioned restriction that will entail the gradual transfer of almost all the flights to the Ezeiza International Airport. Conditioning of the new presidential hangar, being that the entrance of personnel and vehicles affected to these necessities will necessarily generate a greater transit in the zone. Against this panorama, taking into account the incorporation of new operators and aerial routes, the increase of operations that will happen From 2018 at the International Airport of Ezeiza and those events that could involve a Additional movement of people and machinery; I deem it pertinent to require the Minister of Transport of the Nation, the National Administrator of Civil Aviation; And to the president of the Regulatory Agency of the National System of Airports – through the management (s) he deems pertinent / s-; The elaboration of a detailed report on the actions that have taken place are in progress or will be implemented in the future to ensure the safety of air traffic and the rational use of space. 5.000 vuelos cancelados por «Harvey»

AW | 2017 08 28 11:16 | AIR TRAFFIC / SAFETY / SECURITY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

5,000 flights canceled by Texas storm

Tropical Storm Harvey continues to hit South Texas and the network of air connections continue with delays and cancellations of flights for travelers across the country.

Airports in Houston, George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport were closed today, canceling more than 5,000 flights.

Several flights arriving today from Dallas in Cincinnati and Dayton remain on schedule. American, Southwest, Frontier, Delta and United are among the top traders that are giving up strong exchange rates due to the imminent storm. Travelers are told to contact their airline to rebook flights. Local expert Jay Ratliff advised travelers should check if their flight is on time before they leave for the airport.

«It’s going to be a difficult situation for passengers,» he said. «Hundreds and thousands of people could be stranded at airports.» Because the tropical storm is «an act of God,» airlines will not reschedule flights for free on other airlines, pay for hotels or give food stamps. Airlines have issued a time exemption, where passengers can change their travel dates to a later time to avoid problems related to travel time.  A \ W
