La Administración de Estados Unidos prohíbe volar a Cuba, con excepción de La Habana
El Gobierno de Estados Unidos prohibirá a partir del 10 Diciembre 2019 que las aerolíneas comerciales estadounidenses viajen a Cuba, con la excepción de los vuelos con destino a la capital La Habana. El Departamento de Estado en Washington ha anunciado este Viernes 25 Octubre 2019 la suspención hasta nuevo aviso de los servicios aéreos otorgando 45 días de plazo a las compañías American Airlines, JetBlue Airways y Delta Air Lines para interrumpir sus operaciones programadas en nueve destinos a los que vuelan a la isla cubana.
Razones de las medidas
El gobierno de Donald Trump ha tomado las medidas para «evitar que el régimen cubano se beneficie de los viajes aéreos estadounidenses y evitar que se use para financiar su represión contra el pueblo cubano y su apoyo a Nicolás Maduro en Venezuela». Los vuelos chárter, que tradicionalmente dominaron el mercado de viajes a Cuba desde Estados Unidos, no se verán afectados por la medida.
Vientos de cambio
Estados Unidos anunció este viernes la suspensión de los vuelos regulares a nueve destinos en Cuba, excepto a La Habana, dándole un drástico viraje al escenario de los viajes a la isla en aerolíneas comerciales estadounidenses. La decisión es una de las más duras restricciones de la administración de Donald Trump para reforzar el embargo y cercar económicamente al régimen cubano en represalia por su apoyo incondicional al régimen de Nicolás Maduro en Venezuela.
El Departamento de Estado, por medio del Secretario Mike Pompeo ha indicado: «A petición del Secretario de Estado, el Departamento de Transporte de Estados Unidos (DOT) suspendió hasta nuevo aviso el servicio aéreo regular entre Estados Unidos y los aeropuertos internacionales cubanos, exceptuando el Aeropuerto Internacional José Martí de La Habana, para impedir que el régimen cubano se beneficie de los viajes aéreos». La petición del Secretario de Estado fue enviada y divulgada este viernes.
Los vuelos fletados (charters) a Cuba no se verán afectados, y podrán continuar sus itinerarios y reservaciones de boletos como venían realizando hasta el momento, dijo a CiberCuba un funcionario del Departamento de Estado.
Aerolíneas afectadas
American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, son las compañías que no podrán cumplir la totalidad de sus vuelos programados a Cuba. En total, cinco aerolíneas estadounidenses, incluidas United Airlines y Southwest Airlines, realizan los vuelos directos a La Habana.
Las aerolíneas estadounidenses tendrán 45 días para descontinuar todos los servicios aéreos regulares entre Estados Unidos y los destinos aeroportuarios del interior de la isla. La medida entrará en vigor el próximo 10/12 2019 y las aerolíneas deberán proceder a realizar los ajustes necesarios y reorganizar los itinerarios de reservas ya hechas por los pasajeros.
Destinos afectados, disminución tráfico
Los destinos que se afectarán con la cancelación son el Aeropuerto Internacional Ignacio Agramonte, en Camagüey, el Aeropuerto Cayo Coco, Aeropuerto Cayo Largo, el Aeropuerto Jaime González, en Cienfuegos, el Aeropuerto Frank País, en Holguín, el Aeropuerto Manzanillo, el Aeropuerto Juan Gualberto Gómez, en Matanzas, el Aeropuerto Abel Santamaría, en Santa Clara y el Aeropuerto Antonio Maceo, en Santiago de Cuba.
El recorte de los vuelos comerciales a Cuba provocará una disminución significativa de los viajes familiares y de ciudadanos estadounidenses, con previsible disminución de los ingresos en divisas. En Junio 2019, Estados Unidos había suspendido ya los viajes en cruceros, embarcaciones y aviones privados, lo que redujo las opciones de los visitantes estadounidenses en las 12 categorías autorizadas por el Departamento del Tesoro. Hasta Agosto 2019, 425.304 viajeros estadounidenses y unos 350.000 cubanos y cubanoamericanos visitaron la isla, en lo que constituye el mayor crecimiento de pasajeros procedentes de Estados Unidos en el último decenio. Las cifras consolidan a Estados Unidos como el segundo emisor de turismo hacia Cuba (más de 775.000 viajeros), detrás de Canadá, que lidera el mercado con 827.962 visitantes, pero con menores índices con relación a 2018.

Bloqueo insular

Al suspender los vuelos a un total de nueve aeropuertos, Estados Unidos impide que el régimen cubano obtenga acceso a divisas fuertes de viajeros estadounidenses que se alojan en sus centros turísticos controlados por el Estado, visiten atracciones de propiedad estatal y contribuyan a las arcas del régimen cubano utilizando estos aeropuertos», indicó la declaración.
«La situación de los derechos humanos en Cuba sigue siendo pésima, con las autoridades estatales acosando y encarcelando arbitrariamente a activistas, disidentes, artistas y otros que cuestionan la impunidad del régimen», enfatizó el documento, que recordó que a pesar de la condena internacional, Maduro sigue socavando las instituciones de su país y subvirtiendo el derecho a la autodeterminación del pueblo venezolano. Empoderado por Cuba, Maduro ha creado un desastre humanitario que desestabiliza la región», concluyó la declaración oficial.
