El programa que evita el contacto con oficiales de migraciones en aeropuertos norteamericanos recibió más de 1200 solicitudes en 22 días. Promedio de 54 argentinos por día hicieron el trámite para entrar más rápido a Estados Unidos
El lanzamiento en el país del programa Global Entry, que permite a ciudadanos argentinos entrar a Estados Unidos sin tener contacto con agentes de migraciones, comenzó con alta demanda: ya recibieron más de 1200 aplicaciones desde el pasado 8 de mayo, fecha en que se abrió la inscripción. Así se lo confiaron a Clarín fuentes de la embajada norteamericana, donde se realizaron las entrevistas a los primeros tres solicitantes.
«Estamos orgullosos de anunciar el lanzamiento de este programa. Es una muestra del crecimiento en la estrecha relación de nuestros países», dijo Tom Cooney, encargado de Negocios y embajador interino de Estados Unidos en el país, quien encabezó un acto en el Palacio Bosch junto a Gustavo Zlauvinen, subsecretario de Relaciones Exteriores de la Cancillería. Ambos destacaron la «flexibilidad y celeridad» que le brindará a los viajeros frecuentes el ingreso al sistema, que terminó de cerrarse un mes atrás, con el último encuentro en Washington de los presidentes Mauricio Macri y Donald Trump.
Argentina se convirtió así en el décimo país del mundo en acceder al programa de la oficina de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza de EE.UU. para viajeros pre-aprobados (ya deben tener una visa) y de «bajo riesgo». La inscripción tiene un costo de 100 dólares no reembolsables, una duración de cinco años y debe realizarse por Internet. Una vez aprobado, el solicitante tendrá una entrevista personal con un funcionario de la oficina de Aduanas. Hasta el 9 de junio, esos encuentros se harán en la Cámara de Comercio de los EE.UU. en la Argentina (AmCham, ubicada en Viamonte 1133). Luego de esa fecha, cada solicitante deberá coordinar para realizar su entrevista en el aeropuerto norteamericano al que llegue en su próxima visita.
