AIRGWAYS ® Icon-AW

The initial tickets will be on sale this same Thursday on the company’s website, at a promotional price that will From 299 pounds (about $ 6,150 in Argentine currency) for the one-way trip and 598 pounds (about $ 12,300) if it includes the return.

Those who opt for this category will include the possibility of reserving a seat, dispatch two bags of up to 20 kilos each, raise a third of up to 15 kilos and a better quality food on board.

Although it is a promotional price, the rates offered by Norwegian Airlines for its first trips are significantly cheaper than those offered by the alliance of British Airways and Iberia, until today only operators of the non-stop flights of the Buenos Aires-London route. According to Infobae’s brief survey this morning, the cheapest round-trip fares that both airlines offer between February 14 and 21, 2018 start at 944 pounds (about $ 19,400). That is, at least 36% more expensive than those of its brand new competitor.

The details of the first flights were confirmed this morning by the company’s own CEO, Bjorn Kjos, in the meeting he shared with the Argentine ambassador Carlos Sersale at the official residence that the diplomat has in London.

«This is a great milestone, not only because it is our first route in South America, but also because it is the first step towards our ambitious national and international growth plan in the country,» said Kjos In the joint submission.

At the meeting, the founder of Europe’s third-largest low-cost airline confirmed that the company will initially connect Buenos Aires with London four times a week. The flights will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays by a single Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The aircraft will link Ezeiza airport with Gatwick, London’s second airport after Heathrow.

The Buenos Aires-London route is part of the aggressive expansion strategy to other continents that Norwegian began earlier this year with the launch of its low-cost travel to the United States and Asia. At the beginning of next year, Argentina will become the company’s first Latin American destination.

The project also coincides with the opening of the air market that the Argentine Government has encouraged since the inauguration of Mauricio Macri. The decision was punctuated by the judicial investigation involving the President himself for the alleged conflict of interest between the sale of the family business MacAir Jet Avianca, one of the airlines that bid to enter the local market.

Boeing deal values double Airbus at Paris Air Show

With the Paris Air Show 2017 entering the homes stretch, Boeing (BA) has racked up more than twice as much in order value as rival Airbus for the U.S. company’s first win at the showcase event in five years.

Boeing’s orders and expressions of interest for ~370 planes worth as much as $52B routed Airbus, which tallied 229 airliners valued at ~$25B, but the European planemaker dismisses the setback, saying it is focused on meeting delivery targets to make up for production snags rather than seeking new purchasers.

Even with the boost from the MAX 10, Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg does not expect order flow to surpass deliveries this year, as demand jumped in past years as high fuel prices encouraged airlines to scramble for more efficient planes.

Copa Airlines to convert 15 Boeing 737NG to MAX 10s

Panama City-based Copa Airlines will convert 15 previously ordered Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to the new MAX 10 version, the company said at the Paris Air show June 21. Copa will become the first airline to operate the 737 MAX 10 in Latin America.

Boeing envisions the end of large aircraft

Boeing’s current market forecast has been perceived by Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of marketing Randy Tinseth as saying the company is convinced that the VLA segment would decline so much that it no longer deserved to be a separate category in the company’s portfolio.

«By looking at the 747-8, we see its future as a freighter or VIP plane or Boeing Business Jet,» he said. Referring to the Airbus A380, he said the market was declining so significantly that «we do not think Airbus will deliver the rest of its peddling orders.»

Despite the wide package of proposed improvements announced this week by the European aeronautical manufacturer to improve the A380’s aerodynamic and economic performance, it said: «Putting new winglets in the plane does not make it smaller.» He noted that the upcoming 777X from Boeing Would be the biggest airplane that will succeed in the market.

Boeing has revised its forecasts and has estimated that 41,030 new aircraft will be needed over the next 20 years, valued at $ 6.1 billion. Of this total, 40% would go to Asia, 20% for Europe and North America and the other 20% for the rest of the world.

«Passenger traffic has registered strong growth so far this year and we estimate an annual increase of 4.7% over the next two decades. As for passengers, we have seen traffic growing above the long-term trend. Demand has grown faster than capacity, so load factors have risen and yields have been strong. «

He referred to the airline’s global profits of $ 35 billion in 2016 and the forecast improvement for this year by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to $ 31 billion.

Boeing expects passenger numbers to grow by 6-7%, even taking into account current economic and political setbacks such as currency volatility and terrorism,

Boeing expects to deliver 760-765 aircraft this year, which should give it an advantage over Airbus, he said.

GKN and Boeing to complete 737 BBJ for Dutch government

Under the contract, which was signed at the Paris Air Show, Fokker Techniek in Woensdrecht will design and complete the aircraft’s interior. The 737 Boeing Business Jet will be configured for 24 passengers, split into two cabins (12 VIP, 12 staff) and include a crew rest area and bathroom. The interior will include the latest SatCom technologies. Boeing and Fokker Techniek have closely collaborated on the offer for the delivery of the new Government aircraft.

Both companies have worked together before on conversion and completion projects for Boeing Business Jets. Interior design activities will start immediately, and the completed aircraft will be delivered to the Dutch Government in 2019.

AIRGWAYS ® Icon-AW

Airlines welcome plans for Scotland’s new Air Departure Tax

Airlines have given the thumbs up to plans by the Scottish government to replace Air Passenger Duty with a new level of Air Departure Tax

Airlines UK, the industry body that represents UK carriers, said it awaited details of the ADT banding and rates, which are due later this year, “with keen interest”. The new tax bands will apply from April 1, 2018.

Scotland has pledged to cut the tax levied by 50% by the end of the current session of the Scottish Parliament and then eventually abolish the tax altogether.

The industry organisation was responding to the passing of the final stage and approval of the Air Departure Tax Bill in the Scottish Parliament yesterday. A spokesman for Airlines UK said: “From next year, Scotland will have its own tax regime for passengers flying from Scottish airports».

“At a time when competitor nations are busy reducing or abolishing their own versions of the Air Departure Tax – including Ireland, which has seen a surge in new routes and passengers since it took action to make its airports more competitive – it will make little sense for Scotland to put itself at a disadvantage by continuing to levy sky-high taxes on aviation». “The airline sector has been clear that taking action on ADT will make a big difference to businesses and families – and provide a welcome boost to the Scottish tourism industry». “Our members would see Scotland – a key market for them already – as an even more attractive destination to add capacity and put on new routes». “Importantly, this could also be done in a way that is environmentally sustainable – thanks to the huge and continuing investment airlines are making in cleaner, quieter aircraft and the ambitious carbon reduction targets the industry – encompassing airlines, airports, manufacturers and others – has signed up to.”

Scottish finance secretary Derek Mackay said: “Our airports are competing on a world stage to secure new routes and capacity». “Reducing the tax burden helps ensure a more level playing field with many other European airports competing to secure the same airlines and similar routes». “New routes will enhance business connectivity and tourism as well as providing new jobs.”

The bands, rates and exemptions for the replacement tax are not covered in the bill and will be decided as part of the Scottish government’s annual budget process, which will need the approval of a majority of MSPs. A \ W

AIRGWAYS ® Icon-AW

Mexico City, Mexico · The Latin American airline industry met in advance the safety objectives set for 2020, said the executive director of the Latin American Air Transport Association.

As part of the 8th Pan American Aviation Safety Summit, the Latin American airline industry met ahead of the safety targets set for 2020, said executive director Eduardo Iglesias of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) . He said that 10 years ago the region recorded a high incidence of events, however, with the collaboration of various entities, as well as the renewal of the fleet, allowed a reduction in them. «We have taken the region of those indexes to be one of the most recognized in the improvement of its safety index, and we are today at the same level as the safest airlines in the world,» he argued.

Thirty-five international airports from Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Panama, Bolivia and Colombia were represented through AMERIPOL and CLACIP. The deployment of judicial police at international airports allowed the generation of 54 alerts linking 76 people, of whom 39 were involved. The countries affected by the origin of flights were Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Peru and Dominican Republic, and the main international destinations were France, Canada, Colombia, the United States, the Netherlands, Cuba, Mexico and Spain. These interventions and regional coverage served as a reference point for determining new regional points for air ticket fraud. Six members of ALTA Airlines actively participated in the alert notification initiative.

The Regional Director for the North American, Central American and Caribbean Regional Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Melvin Cintron, explained that although the goal was reached in advance, actions are being taken to reduce increasingly. «Our region continues to diminish the events and part of that is because of the efforts of the industry, civil aviation authority, that is why we have a great success in the region,» Cintron said.

In a press conference on the ALTA forum PanAmerican Aviation Safety Summit 2017, the director stressed that this was achieved despite having a larger number of aircraft and twice as many passengers. For his part, the regional director for the Security of the Pan American Aviation (RAGS-PA), Carlos Cirilo, commented that in America they have decreased in 50 percent the aerial incidents, happening from 1.15 to 0.5 percent. «The reduction has been achieved between 2010 and 2017, and when we started work we had the average of reducing 50 percent of the fatality challenges and we got it a year ago, when the target was 2020,» he said.

Delta orders 10 more Airbus A321CEO

Delta Air Lines announced an order for 10 Airbus A321CEO’s at the Paris Air Show June 20, adding to 30 A321s ordered by the Atlanta-based carrier in May. The new order placed at La Bourget is valued at approximately $1.2 billion at list prices. Delta’s A321s are powered by CFM International’s CFM56 engines.

“The A321 is fast becoming a favorite aircraft of our customers and employees alike,” Delta SVP-supply chain management and fleet Greg May said. “[Its] operating economics and customer capacity make it a great fit for our US domestic network. All totaled, Delta has ordered 122 A321ceos, the first of which was delivered in March 2016.

Many of Delta’s A321s are being delivered from the Airbus US manufacturing facility in Mobile, Alabama. The airline received its first US-manufactured A321 in December 2016. Airbus said its Mobile facility is expected to produce four aircraft per month by the end of 2017, with most aircraft going to Airbus’ US customers.

Delivery of Delta’s first A350-900 XWB is slated for summer 2017, Airbus said. Four additional A350-900s are to be delivered in 2017, all part of an original order for 25 of the model. Delta reached an agreement with Airbus in May to defer delivery of the next 10 A350s, originally scheduled to be delivered in 2019 and 2020, “by two to three years with additional delivery flexibility,” according to a Delta statement at the time. Delta CEO Ed Bastian referred to an “excess capacity in widebodies as we look to the industry as a whole” during the company’s first-quarter earnings conference call in April. As of May 31, Delta’s fleet included 188 Airbus aircraft, including 146 A320 family members and 42 A330 widebodies.

BOEING

World gets first peek at Boeing ‘797’

The world has been given a peek at Boeing’s plans for a new small twin-aisle aircraft of Boeing 797. Boeing released the first image of its new «middle-market airplane» at the Paris Air Show on Tuesday as a teaser for what will be the company’s first new airliner since its 787 Dreamliner. It’s been nearly six years since the Dreamliner first went into service after a decade in development. And the new Boeing jet has become the most anticipated airplane in commercial aviation.

COMPARATIVE AIRBUS A322X & BOEING 797

Industry leaders have started calling it the 797, the next in the 60 year series that started with the Boeing 707. The jet will be tailored to offer relief to congested airports on routes such as New York to Los Angeles, but should also be efficient enough to serve medium-range flights connecting the U.S. to smaller European cities, for example. It would seat between 220 and 270 passengers for flights of up to 5,200 nautical miles, or just over 10 hours.

Boeing believes there could be a market for more than 4,000 such aircraft over 20 years starting around 2025 when the 797 would first fly with airlines. The jet would fill a gap between Boeing’s single-aisle 737 workhorse and its advanced long range 787. A new airliner is worth many hundreds of billions of dollars to the global economy. U.S. states will woo Boeing for new factories, and suppliers around the world will vie to build a part of the jet.

Details are still few and far between, but Boeing has talked to 57 potential customers. One such airline, Indian low-cost operator SpiceJet, said it was very interested in the new jet to relieve airport congestion and open new routes from South Asia. «We have 1.3 billion people in our country, they need to travel to different parts of the world and they don’t necessarily need to travel through the hubs that have been created by several airlines on both sides of our country,» said SpiceJet CEO Ajay Singh.

The wings and fuselage will be built primarily from carbon fiber composite material like the larger 787 Dreamliner, said Mike Delaney, Boeing’s vice president of airplane development. Airbus, Boeing’s big global rival, says it already has jets that can serve the market the 797 would target. Delaney challenged that claim, saying that one airline had estimated that Boeing’s new airliner could cut flying costs by as much as 45% compared to Airbus’ A330NEO jet.

EMBRAER

Embraer closes agreements for sale of up to 50E-Jet’s

Among the agreements, the company signed with Fuji Dream Airlines an agreement worth estimated at 274 million dollars.

Embraer signed during the Paris Airshow agreements with different aviation market participants for the sale of up to 50 jets, the manufacturer said in communiqués on Tuesday. Among them, the company signed with Fuji Dream Airlines an estimated value of 274 million dollars, which includes a firm request of three E175 aircraft and purchase rights for three other jets of the same model. Embraer announced a firm request from KLM CityHopper, a Dutch airline’s regional subsidiary, for two E190 jets, scheduled for delivery in 2018 and list price of $ 101 million. Embraer also confirmed the signing of an agreement with Japan Airlines for a firm request for an additional E190, while celebrating one year of the start of E190 operations in Japan.

The Brazilian manufacturer still received an «undisclosed customer» firm order for 10 E195-E2 jets and purchase rights for 10 E190-E2 aircraft. In a statement, Embraer clarifies that the firm order has an estimated value of 666 million dollars and will be included in the order book of the second quarter of 2017.

At the same time, the company signed an agreement with another «undisclosed customer» for 20 E190-E2 jets, worth $ 1.182 billion, but the contract is subject to final documentation by the customer.

Earlier, Embraer had communicated a firm request from Belarusian airline Belavia for two jets of the current generation of E-Jets (an E175 and another E195) worth 99.1 million dollars, with delivery in 2018.

MITSUBISHI

Mitsubishi Extra MRJs for Testing

Mitsubishi is considering building one, or perhaps two, extra flight-test aircraft to help it through its certification process for the heavily delayed Mitsubishi Regional Jet.

There are already five MRJ flight-test aircraft, four of which are based at Moses Lake, Washington State, in the U.S.; the fleet has so far accounted for 940 hours of flight time, said Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp. program director Alex Bellamy.

Those five aircraft, all MRJ 90 models, are being used to close out the various areas that have to be certificated by Japan’s Civil Aviation Bureau. Although a definite decision has not yet been made, “the quickest and easiest way to do that is to build another aircraft,” he said. Building a second new aircraft would give Mitsubishi additional capacity to close out the tests as quickly as possible.

Mitsubishi is keen to get the MRJ into airline service as quickly as possible after a series of delays in the aircraft’s development program. The most recent, announced early this year, pushed back the in-service date by two years, to mid-2020.

The reasons for the delay centered around changes to an avionics bay and the resulting alterations to the aircraft’s wiring system as the various avionics boxes were moved around, said Bellamy. That had been an extremely complicated process, but the revised design was then frozen.

Bellamy said that, after the latest delay was announced, the company brought in several independent consultants from around the world to run the rule over the aircraft’s new technical configuration, “system by system.” The experts gave the go-ahead to the company’s revised plans and it is now “confident and comfortable about the revised schedule.” A \ W
