Ecuatoriana Airlines startup inicia ops en 07/2021

Ecuatoriana Airlines_Isologotype

Ecuatoriana will start ops in 07/2021

Ecuatoriana Airlines startup starts ops in 07/2021

Ecuatoriana Airlines has announced the launch of commercial air operations from the Republic of Ecuador. The new operator is working towards the launch of flights towards July 2021 and is establishing its structure to carry out operations with De Havilland Canada DHC-8 turboprop aircraft. Eduardo Delgado, CEO of Ecuatoriana Airlines, said recently that the new air carrier expects to operate with six aircraft of the DHC-8Q-400 series with a capacity for 76 passengers, and DHC-8Q200, with a capacity to accommodate 37 passengers. The company has announced that the acquisition of all aircraft will be on a rental basis. The investment process in Ecuatoriana Airlines is set at US$ 20 million for this year 2021 to establish the infrastructure required to operate an airline.

Ecuatoriana Airlines aims to strengthen domestic connectivity in the country. Last year, it asked the Ecuadorian state for permission to operate 29 routes from seven cities. It plans to link from Quito to Guayaquil, Cuenca, Santa Rosa, Esmeralda, Manta and Loja. Ecuatoriana would have 11 routes from Quito with up to 68 weekly frequencies. The domestic route assignments correspond to: four routes from Guayaquil, three from Cuenca, three from Esmeralda, three from Manta, three from Loja, and two from Santa Rosa. Finally, the airline also wants to operate flights to the Galapagos Islands, in the Pacific Ocean.

Due to Ecuador’s relatively compressed geography, Eduardo Delgado believes that the Dash 8Q-Series is the perfect aircraft for the market. «The Ecuadorian unfortunately got used to traveling in a commercial jet, but this is very expensive. That cost is applied to the passenger, and that is why there are high rates in the country», said Eduardo Delgado enthusiastically, when determining that the airline will establish affordable prices in Ecuador.

The new airline is working on its corporate identity, logo and brand. He is also visiting local municipalities, speaking with government authorities and chambers, updating Ecuatoriana’s progress. The employee hiring processes will begin in April 2021. The flight crew training would begin in May 2021. Currently, the airline is in the process of obtaining its Air Operator Certificate (AOC), for which it is estimated that these approvals will be reached by June 2021. For Eduardo Delgado, the current landscape offers a unique opportunity. He said, «Ecuatoriana will be a hybrid between the low cost carrier and the full service. […] Our rates will be low. From what we have talked about, the price range on certain routes will be between US $ 50 and 65 Dollars».

In 2020, the Ecuadorian government ceased operations of the airline TAME Ecuador, the state carrier. This decision left the market with only two air operators Avianca Ecuador and Latam Ecuador. However, both are under Chapter 11 bankruptcies and their restructuring processes, so commercial operations are limited to some flights.

TUI fly 1er 737 MAX en cielos europeos

TUI fly restablece operaciones con Boeing 737 MAX

TUI_fly_Isologotype.svg

TUI fly restores Boeing 737 MAX operations

The Belgian budget airline TIU fly has announced for the next few days the return of operations with Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, after receiving a certificate of airworthiness from the Government of Belgium. On February 17, 2021, TUI fly Belgium is expected to resume its flights using the Boeing 737-8 MAX. The airline will fly the plane to Spain and become the first European airline to resume 737 MAX flights after the European EASA authorities gave their approval for the plane to return to commercial air service.

Following the approvals of the europra aviation agency EASA at the end of January 2021, the process to return to commercial flights of the fourth generation aircraft of line 737 has been unblocked. The airworthiness certificate was issued by the Directorate General of Aviation (DGLV) of the Mobility of the Federal Public Services of the Republic of Belgium.

A second TUI fly Boeing 737-8 MAX would also be certified shortly. In recent days, TUI fly has been conducting operational readiness flights with the two aircraft, part of the procedure for the return of commercial flights.

The Boeing 737 MAX was grounded around the world in March 2019 after two plane crashes in a few months, killing 346 people. Later it turned out that the disasters were caused by the Flight Control System known as MCAS. Some twenty months have demanded software updates and flight tests for the different aeronautical agencies of the world to restore the airworthiness of the aircraft in conflict, obtaining the respective approvals from the United States FAA in November 2020.

The Belgian budget airline TUI fly currently has four Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft (4) in its fleet, where each of the aircraft must receive a certificate of airworthiness from the individual DGLV in order to be reinstated and able to fly in the European skies.

TUI fly herstelt de Boeing 737 MAX-operaties

TUI Fly_737-8MAX_00002

Norwegian Air dismisses all staff in Rome, Italy

The low cost airline Norwegian Air has laid off all the personnel of the Base in Rome, Italy on Monday 15/02. The 322 workers of the Norwegian budget company woke up with the letter of dismissal, without warning. The company has not benefited from state public aid, showing a determined attitude of sudden closure of the Rome scale.

Norwegian Air Resources Italy Limited, the Italian subsidiary of the Norwegian airline, went into liquidation and will no longer survive due to lack of resources. The company has communicated dismissal letters to Pilots, Flight Attendants and the entire staff based at the Rome/Fiumicino Airport.

The unions, in a joint note signed by Filt CGIL, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti, strongly condemned the Norwegian management’s decision: “Norwegian, unexpectedly and without even consulting with the unions, has decided to leave hundreds of its employees based in Italy on the street, together with their families, in the midst of a global pandemic”. The unions accuse the airline that “it has simply decided to disappear, acting as if the Rome/Fiumicino-based employees have never been part of Norwegian, despite having contributed to the success of the company with passion and professionalism throughout years».

The airline company did not bother to put in place the official mechanisms in place to mitigate the impact of the layoffs and offered by the Italian legal system to protect and safeguard workers’ income, especially in this time of crisis. The company’s lawyers informed the unions that Norwegian Air had already started the liquidation procedure in Ireland a few days ago of the company on which the Italian workers depend. According to the unions announced, Norwegian employees will soon hold a demonstration at the Norwegian Embassy in Rome as measures of protests against the actions of the airline.

Norwegian Air licenzia tutto il personale a Roma, Italia

AW-norwegian-air

Air Malta busca plan rescate

AW | 2021 02 15 23:48 | AIRLINES / GOVERNMENT

Air Malta arrastra deudas diarias por € 170 millones diarios

Air MAlta_Isologotype

Air Malta seeks rescue plan

Air Malta drags daily debts of € 170 million daily

The airline Air Malta is losing about € 170 thousand Euros a day, so the government of this country seeks a new rescue plan by the European Commission (EC) in advance to avoid being swept away by the global health crisis. In an interview with local television, the Maltese Minister of Finance, Clyde Caruana, has expressed that «Air Malta needs an honest and credible plan, which is promoted by the European Commission in order to save itself and that its future is currently doubtful, due to the crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic». The Ministry of Finance has indicated that Air Malta is weeks away from running out of liquidity.

Air Malta, an airline that started operations in 1974, currently has a fleet of eight Airbus A320CEO/NEO (8) aircraft. It is currently operating 19 weekly flights to Amsterdam, Brussels, Catania, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Rome and Zurich. The Maltese company had made a net profit during its last nineteen years of history. In 2019 it had a net loss of € 30 million Euros, then dragged down by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Government Approach

The Government of Malta has expressed that it will focus on a tiered approach when it comes to restarting Malta’s air routes, which aims to ensure «the right mix of destinations and frequencies». The current pandemic has negatively impacted tourism around the world and the number of tourists in Malta dropped dramatically.

Garuda Indonesia reduce flota CRJ1000

AW | 2021 02 15 13:41 | AIRLINES / GOVERNMENT

Oficina SFO del Reino Unido investiga contratos arrendatarios

SFO_Isologotype

Garuda Indonesia reduces CRJ1000 fleet

UK SFO office investigates tenancy agreements

Garuda Indonesia Airlines is finalizing twelve Bombardier CRJ-1000 aircraft leases (12). The termination of the contracts is set in a framework to avoid a growing scandal by ending the lease, under questioning of leasing processes of Canadian regional aircraft.

Garuda Indonesia Airlines had entered into an agreement with Bombardier Inc. to acquire six CRJ-1000 aircraft through Export Development Canada (EDC) representing the PK-GRA, PK-GRC, PK-GRE, PK-GRF, PK-GRG registries. and PK-GRH. Additionally, the airline had entered into a second agreement to lease another twelve Bombardier CRJ1000 aircraft (12) from Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC).

Garuda Indonesia is in discussions with Export Development Canada (EDC) on advance payment settlements for the first six Bombardiers. That lease agreement is under investigation by Britain’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO). However, SFO’s research covers more than the 2011 Bombardier deal. Five procurement processes involving different manufacturers have come under the microscope. The airline allows us to observe some edges of these alleged irregularities, when in May 2020, CEO Emirsyah Satar of Garuda Indonesia Airlines in the period 2005 to 2014, was imprisoned for eight years after a dubious agreement related to aircraft and aircraft engines from Airbus and Rolls-Royce. What is also clear is that Garuda Indonesia’s collateral leasing firm wants to send the twelve CRJ-1000 jets back to Nordic Aviation Capital, but is not under investigation.

Garuda Indonesia mengurangi armada CRJ1000

Kantor SFO Inggris menyelidiki perjanjian penyewaan

Garuda Indonesia Airlines sedang menyelesaikan dua belas sewa pesawat Bombardier CRJ-1000 (12).

Reino Unido medidas sanitarias

AW | 2021 02 15 11:20 | GOVERNMENT / AIRLINES

Government announces health evaluations for the country

The British Minister of Transport, Grant Shapps, revealed that he is in talks with his counterparts in the United States and Singapore about the possibility of creating an international certification system that allows travel if you are free of Covid-19. In statements, he indicated that it is highly probable that «in the future there will be an international system so that countries can potentially check whether one has been vaccinated or tested before traveling. It is expected that talks on these aspects will continue. , to develop an internationally recognized system», said the UK Transport Minister. Currently, the British Government does not plan to introduce a passport of immunity against Covid-19 within the United Kingdom, which has been in the works for weeks and which could eventually require citizens to provide proof of vaccination to carry out activities.

The CEO of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Alexandre de Juniac, said that the British executive has shown interest in the application that he develops together with several airlines, the TravelPass, which allows storing information on vaccines and authorized tests in order to to streamline travel procedures. Alexandre De Juniac assured that this application, which is currently being tested, among others, by the British airline British Airways (BA) would be ready to use from April 2021. A British Airways spokesperson has expressed his collaboration with TravelPass, being the first airline of the United Kingdom that tests since February 4, 2021, together with the American American Airlines, the VeryFLY mobile health passport, which allows to verify that the health requirements of the countries are met before flying.

In the UK, it is illegal to travel for non-essential reasons and the Government has increased restrictions on visitors to prevent the spread of highly contagious foreign variants of the coronavirus. Thus, as of Monday 02/08, travelers arriving from countries considered to be of maximum risk, including Chile, must comply with quarantine in a specially designated hotel assuming the expenses, while all visitors, regardless of origin, will have to isolate themselves at a declared address and have various diagnostic tests before and after arriving in the UK. Those who are untruthful about whether they have visited risky areas face penalties of up to ten years in prison, with fines of up to ₤ 10,000 British Pounds for those who breach the quarantine.

Interjet definirá próxima huelga

AW | 2021 02 15 10:58 | AIRLINES

Interjet will define strike

Interjet will define its next strike in the second round of voting

AW-Interjet_SSJ100

The Federal Board of Conciliation and Arbitration (JFCA) notified the National Union of Workers and Employees of Communications and Air, Maritime and Land Transport of Mexico, Section 15 of the Confederation of Workers of Mexico (CTM) that the count to define the situation of The strike at Interjet will take place next Tuesday, February 16, 2021, defined between 07:00 to 19:00 hs.

At the end of January 2021, the JFCA had informed the CTM union that the count would be carried out and issued the list of workplaces where the 4,114 unionized workers of the Interjet airline should cast their vote to ratify or reject the strike that began on 01/08 passed in demand of salary debts, Christmas bonus, food vouchers and savings fund, among other concepts to workers. The latest statement from Section 15 highlights that workers may only cast their vote in the place they were designated (the last place where they presented their services), carrying an official credential or passport. In order to preserve the health of all in this face-to-face vote monitored by Conciliation and Arbitration, it was arranged that it be carried out with all hygiene measures and protocols to avoid contagion, such as the use of face masks, healthy distance, use of sanitizing mats and taking temperature, among others.

To avoid the concentration of people in the places with the greatest number of workers with the right to vote, some stations will divide the vote into schedules and / or groups of workers according to the father’s last name. «Being in favor of the Strike means that the company is ordered and sentenced to pay salaries and benefits for all of you, in addition to returning to work if the company complies with the respective payment», dictates the letter signed by Francisco Joaquín del Olmo, Director of Section 15, but he also points out that being against the Strike is to forgive and absolve the company from paying what was claimed and for them to return to work.

Interjet perspectives

The Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE) has authorized on Monday 02/08 the concentration between ABC Aerolíneas, known as Interjet, and HBC International, a fund that acquired part of the capital stock of the airline that has been on strike for more than 30 days. Recently, Interjet received the endorsement of the Mexican authorities to concentrate with the HBC International fund, which injects capital into one of the four largest airlines in the country, but which still faces fines and debts with the treasury.
