AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Higher Court of India orders transfer of airlines ops to T2

The Delhi High Court confirms DIAL’s order to move the operations partially of three airlines of the Indira Gandhi International Airport from T1 to T2

Resultado de imagen para Delhi International Airport LtdThe High Court of Delhi today confirmed the decision of the DIAL Airport operator to partially change the operations of IndiGo, GoAir and Spicejet from Terminal T1 to T2 at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL / VIDP).

The Delhi High Court dismissed InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., which owns IndiGo, requested the airline’s request to partially change its operations from Terminal 1 of the Delhi International Airport to the newly created Terminal 2. However, the Supreme Court extended the term to change its operations to February 2018.

The Delhi Pvt International Airport Ltd. (DIAL) had asked all the airlines operating in Terminal 1 to switch one third of their operations to Terminal 2 in an attempt to satisfy the growing passenger traffic. IndiGo objected to the move saying it will cause confusion and hinder operations. Previously, the company had requested a provisional suspension until the final hearing was concluded, but the Delhi High Court rejected their request.

Defense lawyer Mukul Rohatgi, a lawyer for InterGlobe Aviation, had argued that DIAL’s decision was arbitrary and, therefore, an appropriate case to change. The Ministry of Civil Aviation was also part of the process. DIAL responded that it was not an arbitrary decision and it was taken for a better administration of the airport. A \ W

AW | 2017 12 20 16:05 | AIRPORTS

Atlanta Airport, the world’s largest air traffic, was paralyzed on Sunday due to a sudden blackout, so several flights were suspended. However, authorities said that electric service would be restored by midnight at the Hartfield-Jackson International Airport.

The company Georgia Power said in a statement that the possible cause of the power outage was a fire in an underground electrical installation. Authorities said the electric service would be restored by midnight at Hartfield-Jackson International Airport.

The passengers were left in the dark at the airport when the lights went out suddenly at around 1:00 pm local time. Because of the blackout, all departure flights were canceled and the planes that landed remained on the ground at their place of departure. International flights were diverted, according to officials.

The electrical interruption did not affect external areas of the airport. The power company said there are «many redundant systems installed to guarantee power supply at the airport and noted that these interruptions «occur very occasionally».

Delta Air Lines, which has its headquarters at the airport, said more than 450 flights of main and regional routes were canceled. The airline encouraged passengers to check the status of their flights using the Fly Delta mobile application or online before heading to the airport.

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Schiphol Airport paralyzed by temporary snow

The Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport paralyzed by the snow storm

A snow storm has caused the interruption of air traffic at the Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam this Monday, December 11. Some 430 flights, equivalent to a third of the operations of this airport have been canceled leaving thousands of passengers on the ground. The largest company affected was KLM with about 300 canceled.

The snow has affected several areas of western Europe, causing delays in roads and transportation. As a result of severe disruptions caused by extreme winter weather, KLM has canceled 25 intercontinental flights and 105 European flights in Schiphol. Several other airlines also have to cancel part of their operation.

Due to the large number of flights canceled in recent days, the response time of the KLM service centers is longer than usual. Also the baggage handling at Schiphol can sometimes leave something to be desired. Travelers should again take into account the long delays on Tuesday.

«All the aviation needs to catch up today to get everyone out, this makes it extra at Schiphol at the check-in and transfer counters, we’re ready, all the jobs are clean and can be used, we’re confident we’ll be operational again at the beginning of the afternoon», says the airport. Most roads are easily accessible, but traffic jams are expected to be too long here. A \ W

Nueva pista para Aeropuerto de Córdoba

AW | 2017 12 10 21:22 | AIRPORTS

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

New runway for Córdoba Airport

The Córdoba International Airport will have a new track

The works would begin in the second semester of 2018 and would be inaugurated at the beginning of 2019. The measure seeks to anticipate the increase in air traffic. Of this menra the Ministry of Transport of the Nation will reconstruct one of the tracks of Ambrosio Taravella Airport of Córdoba. The works will include expansion of platforms, margins, headwaters and taxiways, as well as the incorporation of new lighting and beacon technology. The investment would exceed one billion pesos and the works would begin in the second half of 2018 to be inaugurated in the first months of 2019.

At present the Cordovan airport is one of the few in the country that has two operational tracks called 18-36, the main one, and 05-23, the alternative. The 18-36, track 3200 meters long by 45 meters wide whose surface is concrete, will be completely rebuilt, according to sources from the national government. Unlike what happened with the works carried out at El Plumerillo de Mendoza Airport, which during the spare parts was disabled and the passengers had to move to San Rafael or San Juan to fly, in Córdoba that would not happen as the runway 05- 23, 2255 meters long by 45 wide with asphalt surface, would be an alternative. The works will be financed in part by airport taxes and, on the other hand, by the investment committed by Aeropuertos Argentina2000 by contract.

The runway of the Airport of Cordoba is not in imperative conditions of reconstruction, but the decision of the Nation is a measure that anticipates the intense air traffic that can add the square with the arrival of various airlines that chose Cordoba to increase its operations. A \ W
