México will limit operations in AICM

Find which airlines arrive in the new Santa Lucia

The Government of Mexico has announced a maximum limit for commercial air operations at the Mexico City/AICM International Airport by establishing that it will establish a limit of 61 operations per hour for its hourly slots. The Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT) has several airlines interested in operating at the new airport. The Government seeks that airlines that do not fly on their own initiative at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport/AIFA in Santa Lucia, would seek to limit flights at the Mexico City International Airport/AICM to 61 operations per hour, the maximum limit of flights that should be allowed, but that was exceeded since 2013. The Undersecretary of Transport, Carlos Morán Moguel, has expressed that the airlines know that they cannot carry out more than 61 operations per hour in the AICM and indicated that, if the companies do not choose to distribute their excess flights to Saint Lucia, the Government will establish caps on new operations. The limit would be effective once pre-pandemic air traffic levels recover, the official specified, adding that the measure will not be immediate.

In 2019, the Mexico City Airport/AICM reached its historical maximum peak, having a traffic of 50.3 million passengers, a level that fell due to the pandemic that brought global flight restrictions and that has not yet recovered. The plan is to allow up to 61 operations per hour at the AICM and convince the airlines to allow the remaining flights to start migrating to the Felipe Ángeles/AIFA Airport.

The official added that the Government’s intention is that “the airlines understand the advantages that we are projecting in Saint Lucia and as a natural attraction they are interested in coming to the airport. We are going to work with the airlines so that we perfectly define how we are going to have the 61 operations and not exceed them”, emphasized Carlos Morán Moguel.

The person in charge of the construction of the Felipe Ángeles International Airport/AIFA, Gustavo Vallejo, affirmed that there are several airlines interested in operating at the airport, but it will be in the coming days when their interest is formalized, since the publication of the airport rates is still pending so that companies consider it. Some fare advantages will be offered for airlines that fly into Santa Lucia Airport. With these price advantages and airport fees, the Government of Mexico estimates that it will attract airlines to operate at the new AIFA airport, which has a work progress of close to 70 percent.

The downgrade to Category 2 (CAT2) in aviation security of the airport system will not affect the new AIFA airport, since the recovery of the first level under the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) could still be achieved before the end of 2020 This forecast differs from what was declared by Chancellor Marcelo Ebrard, who assured a few days ago that the category will recover during the first half of next year. The recovery of Category 1 is vital if the Government intends for the new AIFA airport to have an international character from its start of operations, since Category 2 does not allow airlines to create new routes between Mexico and the United States, or even increase frequencies.

The person in charge of construction Gustavo Vallejo assured that the planned cost of the project of a ceiling of MX$ 79 billion Mexican pesos will be met, this despite the fact that the Treasury set the final price, as a result of inflation, at about MX$ 85 billion pesos.

The airlines interested in establishing routes from the new Felipe Ángeles International Airport are: Viva Aerobus, Aeromar and the project to reestablish Mexicana de Aviación by Salvador Álvarez, which seeks to employ some former collaborators, are those that are expected to operate, in a initial, after the opening of the airport around March 2022.

The passenger air terminal will have capacity for 20 million passengers, a hotel, access roads for railways, buses, cars, a terminal for private aviation and another for helicopter operations. The plan of the Government of Mexico to compensate for the saturation of AICM consists of establishing a limit to air operations at 50 million the volume of passengers, adding 10 million to the traffic from the Toluca Airport and that the new Santa Lucía Airport move about 19 million passengers.

Mendoza would relaunch foreign flights

Imminent authorization of Mendoza Airport for international flights

The Government of Argentina, through the aviation agency of the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC), has expressed that it is analyzing incorporating the Mendoza International Airport/El Plumerillo for the reopening of international flights. In principle, it will be to increase the quota of daily returnees. In the coming days, the Mendoza Province airport would be enabled to receive flights from abroad. In this way, El Plumerillo Airport would be enabled as a safe air corridor, in addition to Ezeiza. This is a measure taken by the national government and that will increase the daily entry quota to the country from the current 1,700 to 2,300 international passengers.

The implementation of Mendoza airport as a safe air corridor would be published in the Official Gazette this week and will mean a rise from the current 1,700 daily passengers to 2,300, as stipulated in Administrative Decision No. 793/2021, of 08/06.

From the Ministry of Tourism of Mendoza, in charge of Mariana Juri, they reported that ten days ago, from the Ministry of Health of the Nation in charge of Carla Vizzotti they asked for changes in the protocol they had presented, and they have already sent the modifications. Meanwhile, the President of Jurca, Felipe Baravalle, confirmed that they communicated the news and was satisfied with the progress. With the reopening of Mendoza International Airport, airlines such as Sky Airline, Copa Airlines and Latam Airlines Chile could resume direct operations.

Reanudación Aeropuerto Kabul

AW | 2021 09 06 07:28 | AIRPORTS / GOVERNMENT

Kabul Airport Resumption

New government reopens airports in Afghanistan

The Taliban resumed domestic flights from Kabul Airport even though the radars are not working. The group seeks with this maneuver to strengthen its civilian control of the country but it is unlikely that international commercial airlines will operate again until the navigation systems are fully operational. Kabul Airport reopened with domestic flights taking off on Saturday 04/07 after a team of Qatari engineers repaired parts of the Kabul Airport Air Traffic Control System last week, according to Muhammad Salim Saad, the Taliban Commander at charge of airport security.

After reopening, the airport continues to operate without radar or navigation systems, making it difficult to resume international civil flights, a key step in allowing refugees to leave. However, the Qatari Foreign Ministry said that Qatari technical officials had prepared the airport for international humanitarian flights. With the resumption of domestic flights, the Taliban secure their civilian control of the country, while facing a myriad of challenges, such as international skepticism, the freezing of government reserves and their need to meet the expectations of the fighters who fought. for two decades for victory. The Taliban are expected to announce a government for several days.

Canadá reglamenta viajeros doble dosis

AW | 2021 09 06 06:51 | AIR TRAFFIC / GOVERNMENT

Canada restores double vaccination trips

Canada reopens 09/07 for travelers with double vaccination

The Canadian border service confirmed that air and land travelers who demonstrate that they have received a double dose of vaccination from the usual laboratories will be able to re-enter the country from this Tuesday 07/09. This will now affect non-Canadians on non-essential trips. However, as is customary in other countries, certain documentary controls are maintained at the borders. This measure had already been applied to United States citizens for about a month. That opening represented a 100 percent increase in the number of Americans entering Canada.

The Government of Canada also anticipates that it will only allow crew personnel who are vaccinated to fly. It is also expected that this new measure to open borders by Canada will lead to an increase in the number of travelers entering the country. It should be borne in mind that in one week of August this year 46,500 passengers entered Canada when in 2019 that same week they exceeded 780,000.

Sale 777 in Process Jet Airways

Closing insolvency process against administrator Netherlands

A Jet Airways Boeing 777 has been sold to close the insolvency process. The airline Low Cost Jet Airways, which has been in the process of reactivation after being on land for more than two years, announced that one of its Boeing 777 aircraft of wide fuselage under the custody of the Dutch administrator has been sold for US$ 9 million of dollars. In a regulatory presentation on Saturday 04/08, the airline said that the procedure would be used mainly to close the insolvency process against the Netherlands that is now concluded after the sale.

Restructuring plan

The reactivation plan of the bankruptcy airline has gained momentum after the main bankruptcy court of India, the insolvency and bankruptcy board of India (IBBI), approved the measure under a consortium of owners. The consortium was formed by the entrepreneur based in the United Arab Emirates Murari Lal Jalan and Kalrock Capital, who won the tender to revive the indebted Jet Airways in October 2020. The Court approved the proposal of the consortium to revive the airline on the 22nd June 2021. While the airline had admitted claims of around ₹ 150 billion rupees, the consortium has offered to resolve the claims of ₹ 4.75 billion financial and non-financial creditors. Creditors of the airline have already taken a cut of almost 95 percent under the resolution plan. The owner consortium has proposed to pay ₹ 3,850 million rupees against claims of ₹ 78,080 million rupees raised by their financial creditors.

Jet Airways was declared bankruptcy in the Netherlands in response to a complaint of two European creditors. Subsequently, according to the Order of the Noord-Holland District Court of May 21, 2019, insolvency procedures were initiated against the airline. Rocco Mulder was appointed Dutch administrator in the insolvency procedure to manage the Heritage of Jet Airways in the Netherlands. He took custody of the company’s assets in the country at the start date of the insolvency procedure, which included a Boeing 777-300er aircraft stationed at the Amsterdam/Schiphol airport. «This is now to report that, according to the information received from the Dutch administrator, the custody of the Dutch administrator has been sold to Igcas 777 LLC, for US$ 9 million under the Dutch insolvency process», said the representative Authorized by the Jet Airways Monitoring Committee, Ashish Chhawchharia.

The sale of aircraft is carried out according to the terms of the Protocol, where it is agreed that the income of the sale of equipment will be used first for the closure of the Dutch insolvency process in the Netherlands to ensure that the company is no longer declared insolvent. The funds of the balance if they existed, will be repatriated to India and will be discussed in accordance with the provision of the insolvency and bankruptcy code, the presentation added. The Dutch administrator took the custody of Jet Airways assets in the Netherlands at the start date of the insolvency procedure that included a Boeing 777-300ER (VT-JEW) aircraft parked at Amsterdam/Schiphol Airport, the company said. In addition, according to the direction of the National Company Law Appellate Court (NCLAT), the cross-border insolvency protocol was agreed between Ashish Chhawchharia, former Jet Airways resolution professional, and Rocco Mulder, who nclat approved through his September 26 order of 2019, Jet Airways said. «We wish to inform also that after the sale of the team and after completing the required formalities, the Dutch insolvency process will conclude», said Jet Airways in the presentation.

LADE festeja 81º Aniversarios

AW | 2021 09 04 12:04 | AIRLINES / GOVERNMENT

LADE celebrates 81st Anniversaries

LADE continues its commitment to unite Patagonia Argentina

AW-LADE-Fokker F28 Mk-1000

LADE Líneas Aéreas is celebrating its 81st anniversary, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to continue strengthening the development line. The Minister of Defense, Jorge Taiana, participated in the ceremony in commemoration of the 81 years of life of the State Air Lines (LADE), an organization of the Air Force that is key to provide connectivity between the remote locations of the country, which are not operated by commercial airlines due to their low profitability: “The National State has the political decision to strengthen LADE because we are convinced that it performs a fundamental communication task to integrate our territory and promote the development of our Nation. We are the eighth country in the world in terms of territorial extension and that implies an extraordinary interconnection and transportation challenge and that is why the growth of LADE and our flag line is essential”, said the official.

At its headquarters, located in the San Telmo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Jorge Taiana assured that “in this 21st century, with the projection of Argentina towards the south and the vision of a bicontinental country, air communication is essential and that is why we to work, as my predecessor, Minister Agustín Rossi, had been doing in continuing to strengthen the line of development. Rest assured that the future of LADE is promising because the task of promotion must be increased”. Along these lines, the General Director of LADE, Comodoro Mayor Fabián Vidal, highlighted “the present full of activity thanks to the frank recovery of air material, air routes and the incorporation of new routes, after having lived moments of uncertainty, in which was evaluated if LADE was a burden for the Force. The organization is fulfilling in a concrete way with its undeniable mandate to unite the Argentines, and with the old desire to fly again every day of the week connecting the Patagonian provinces and thus promoting the economic development of the region”.

After having suffered years of divestment, lack of support and the threat of its deactivation, LADE began a gradual recovery last year, increasing the frequency of its flights and the means available. The development airline has been expanding its fleet. Currently, it owns SAAB 340B, Twin Otter, Fokker F28, as well as the acquisition of the Boeing 737-700 that has allowed expanding strategic air transport capacity, which had been lost in 2006, when the last Boeing 707 was deprogrammed.

LADE Líneas Aéreas made its maiden flight on September 4, 1940, joining the destinations of El Palomar and Esquel, with intermediate stops in Santa Rosa, Neuquén and San Carlos de Bariloche, under the name LASO (Southwest Airlines). Later, LANE (Northeast Air Lines) was created, which covered the route between Buenos Aires and Iguazú Falls. In October 1945, LASO and LANE were unified, resulting in LADE (State Air Lines), the only development airline in the Argentine Republic and the oldest in the world under this modality.

Reapertura Aeropuerto Kabul

AW | 2021 09 04 11:47 | AIRPORTS / GOVERNMENT

Kabul Airport reopening

Kabul Airport reopens for aid and domestic flights

The Ambassador of the Republic of Qatar in Afghanistan said that a technical team was able to reopen Kabul Airport to receive assistance and the reopening of domestic flights. The airport runway has been repaired in cooperation with the Afghan authorities. The first operations were two domestic flights from Kabul to the cities of Mazar-i-Sharif and Kandahar.

Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani speaking at a joint press conference with Britain’s Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab in Doha on Thursday 02/09, said the Gulf state He was talking to the Taliban and working with Turkey to obtain possible technical support to restart operations at the Kabul airport.

Kabul Airport had been closed since the end of the massive US-led airlift. The end of that operation marked the withdrawal of the last American forces from Afghanistan after twenty years of presence in the country. The evacuation of tens of thousands of people came amid the swift takeover of Afghanistan by the militant Islamist group Taliban, the West’s adversary in the two-decade war that followed the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. Thousands of people who wanted to leave Afghanistan, fearful of life under Taliban rule, were left behind when the evacuation operation ended in late August. The Taliban have promised safe passage for those who want to leave.

Argentina Pre-viaje con buen síntoma

AW | 2021 09 04 00:22 | GOVERNMENT / TOURISM / AIRLINES MARKET

Aumento reservas tickets +300% en una semana

AW-PreViaje_Isologotype

Argentina Pre-trip with good signs

Increase ticket reservations +300% in a week

AW-78808

The relaunch of the Pre-trip Program in Argentina has reached an increase of more than 300% in a period of one week. The Pre-trip system works as an advance purchase of trips that allows the user of air transport to obtain a refund of 50% of the expenses to be used in the Argentine tourist chain. This incentive program for tourism and air transport once again boosted demand in the sector. In the last week, combined with the sale of trips, the reservation of tickets quadrupled and the Government is confident of exceeding the one million tourists who travel the country. «We are very happy with the start of the Pre-Trip and with enormous expectations. The first stage was very successful, and in this second we hope to double those numbers, which would mean more than a million tourists traveling through the country and a huge injection of liquidity for this strategic sector of the national economy», said the Minister of Tourism, Matías Lammens.

The official figures in the last week report that the Pre-trip took advantage of the growth in the inflow of reservations to fly from November 2021 with a demand that quadrupled the average of the last six weeks without the active program.
