Turismo de Venezuela cayó 50%

AW | 2017 12 18 17:15 | TOURISM

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Tourism of Venezuela fell 50%

The high cost in the air fare is one of the main causes of the fall of this sector

The Tourism Council (Conseturismo) estimates that this 2017 tourism in the Republic of Venezuela has decreased by 50%. » We have regulated air fares, and as long as we have this lock, airlines are going to keep losing money. For every flight that is made in the country, companies lose around 10 million bolivars, «said Jesus Irausquin, president of Conseturismo.

The National Assembly estimates that inflation this year could be between 2,000% and 2,100%, which has affected all productive sectors of the country. A \ W

AW | 2017 12 18 05:31 | AIRPORTS

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Airport Atlanta electric blackout

The Atlanta International Airport has suffered the cancellation of many flights due to blackout at the Atlanta Airport

Atlanta Airport, the world’s largest air traffic, was paralyzed on Sunday due to a sudden blackout, so several flights were suspended. However, authorities said that electric service would be restored by midnight at the Hartfield-Jackson International Airport.

The company Georgia Power said in a statement that the possible cause of the power outage was a fire in an underground electrical installation. Authorities said the electric service would be restored by midnight at Hartfield-Jackson International Airport.

The passengers were left in the dark at the airport when the lights went out suddenly at around 1:00 pm local time. Because of the blackout, all departure flights were canceled and the planes that landed remained on the ground at their place of departure. International flights were diverted, according to officials.

The company Georgia Power said in a statement that the possible cause of the power outage was a fire in an underground electrical installation. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The electrical interruption did not affect external areas of the airport. The power company said there are «many redundant systems installed to guarantee power supply at the airport and noted that these interruptions «occur very occasionally».

Delta Air Lines, which has its headquarters at the airport, said more than 450 flights of main and regional routes were canceled. The airline encouraged passengers to check the status of their flights using the Fly Delta mobile application or online before heading to the airport.

Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, which serves 104 million passengers a year, is the busiest in the world since 1998. It serves 275,000 passengers a day on average, according to its website. Al landing and take off almost 2,500 aircraft. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Second flight test of the C919

The COMAC C919 has made the second test test flight in China

The COMAC C919 has successfully completed its second test flight this Sunday, December 17, 2017, opening a new stage of progress for the test tests.

The C919 aircraft manufactured by the public company Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), has carried out the second flight test program without problems landing without problems at the Pudong Airport in Shanghai, where it had taken off two hours before.

About the C919
The inaugural flight of the C919 took place at the beginning of May. Comac had presented the first copy of this plane in November 2015.

The C919 has a capacity for 168 passengers and a range of 5,550 kilometers. It hopes to compete with the Boeing 737 and the Airbus A320. It is interesting to note that these two manufacturers share, almost equally, the great Chinese market. With the C919, Comac expects to overcome its delay with respect to Boeing and Airbus, and claims to have already registered 785 orders for its device, almost all from Chinese airlines. COMAC also produces from ARJ-21, a small regional aircraft that was certified at the end of 2014 by the Chinese authorities.

The C919 will have to face the challenge of the American certification that is indispensable to fly in the United States and is necessary for the planes destined to international flights. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Iran denounces boycott contracts with Airbus and Boeing

Iran has denounced that the US tries to obstruct transactions to purchase aircraft from Airbus and Boeing

A bill recently ratified by the US Congress seeks to oversee those purchase contracts and deter financial institutions from entering into transactions with the Islamic Republic of Iran and eventually confiscate Iranian payments for planes, according to Fajrieh Kashan, Vice Minister of Highways. and Urban Development of Iran.

Deputy Minister Asghar Fajrieh Kashan has denounced that the United States intends to impede the Iranian purchase of aircraft from the manufacturers Airbus and Boeing, which is a violation of the nuclear agreement signed in 2015. «If this bill is finally approved (by the Senate), sales of Boeing and Airbus aircraft (to Iran) would face problems that are a clear violation of the nuclear agreement by the United States, «said the vice minister.

The Administration of Donald Trump would be analyzing damaging these contracts, which includes the prohibition of the sale of commercial aircraft under harsh conditions that would prevent the delivery of the devices or slow down the official approval of the operations, even after years of sanctions that were lifted with the nuclear pact.

Airlines in Iran

Iranian airlines such as Iran Air, Iran Aseman Airlines, Mahan Air and others have signed or signed the intention to sign millionaire purchase / lease contracts to renew the aging fleets.

Fajrieh Kashan said that this pact, signed in 2015 between Iran and six major powers, stipulates that the US would issue the necessary authorizations for the sale of aircraft to Iran, as well as spare parts and after-sales services. «Aircraft sales have been addressed so clearly in the JCPOA (formal name of the agreement), that any US movement against it would be a violation of the agreement», he said.

The Iranian official announced that his country will file a complaint with the commission that oversees the implementation of the JCPOA and that it has also planned measures to recover its payments to Boeing and Airbus, in case of problems with deliveries. The US firm announced in December last year the sale to the airline Iran Air of 80 aircraft for about 16,600 million dollars, and in April confirmed another principle of agreement for the supply of 30 aircraft to Aseman Airlines. The agreement with Airbus includes the purchase of a hundred aircraft, three of which have already been delivered, worth around 10,000 million dollars. Although Airbus is a European manufacturer, Washington’s measures would affect it due to the American components of the aircraft it produces. A \ W

The islands of the Canary Islands Archipelago is experiencing a revolution in regional aviation

With the arrival of the new competitor Air Europa as a regional airline, the Canary Islands is going through a period of aerial expansion. Binter Canarias was the airline that dominated the inter-island air market. Later Canaryfly, the other transport airline between the islands is maintaining a modest market share, even though the market seemed to complete the demand.

The scenario has quickly changed the duopoly market in the Canary Islands since the aeronautical firm Globalia landed at the end of October 2017 with its Air Europa fleet.

On the other hand, the Canarian airlines Binter and Canaryfly have formalized a shared collaboration agreement whereby they commit to process the change of flight from one airline to another, without costs or penalties for the user, so that their customers gain in flexibility and service by benefiting from the multitude of flights that both add daily between the islands. Disputa Bombardier-Boeing

AW | 2017 12 16 20:29 | INDUSTRY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Bombardier-Boeing dispute

Bombardier and Boeing will file claims in the United States International Trade Commission

The trade experts believe that Boeing faces an uphill battle since it did not compete in the Delta agreement. The battle between Bombardier and Boeing will enter a critical phase next week, when the two aerospace rivals appear before a major trading tribunal whose decision will finally decide the fight.

The US International Trade Commission will hold hearings on Monday in which Boeing will explain why he believes he was injured by Bombardier’s landmark agreement to sell Series C passenger aircraft to a US airline.

The hearings mark the last opportunity for all parties to appear before the commission before issuing a final ruling, probably early in the new year, which will determine whether each CSeries jet entering the US is hit with a strong duty.

The US Department of Commerce proposed a 300% tariff after discovering that Bombardier broke trade rules by selling Series C aircraft to Delta at an unfairly low price with the help of government subsidies.

Such a penalty was seen as a potential bet for the heart of the CSeries until the European aerospace giant Airbus proposed buying a majority share in the aircraft and trying to avoid any obligation by assembling them in Alabama. But that agreement, which came to light in October and whose terms have not been made public, has not yet been approved by the federal government, which is evaluating whether it would be a net benefit for Canada.

Bombardier posture

Bombardier, based in Montreal, will have its own chance to respond by saying that the multi-million dollar deal involving up to 125 CSeries aircraft for Delta Airlines had no impact on Boeing’s economic well-being. It is expected that Canada’s ambassador to the United States, David MacNaughton, along with his British counterpart, will attend on behalf of their respective governments, which support Bombardier. Boeing is not injured by the sale, says Bombardier. «Boeing does not compete and was not hurt by this sale. It’s clear he has not hurt Boeing,» said Bombardier spokeswoman Nathalie Siphengphet.

Boeing posture

Boeing officials who briefed journalists on Friday also argued that any duty in Series C should also apply to major components imported into the US. Still, in this final stretch of the dispute, Boeing has a lot of pressure to show that it lost due to the agreement between Bombardier and Delta. That’s because the proposed duty, which could change when the Department of Commerce issues a final tariff on Monday, will be discarded unless the International Trade Commission sides with Boeing.

Some trade experts believe that Boeing faces an uphill battle because it did not compete for the Delta contract, which is what Bombardier and the federal government of Canada have argued. But Boeing officials said the company’s 737-700 single aisle did compete against, and beat, the CSeries for a contract with United Airlines in March 2016.

The US aerospace giant plans to argue that, although it did not compete for the Delta contract, the agreement will generate an influx of heavily subsidized aircraft that will hurt future opportunities in the US market. A \ W

InselAir pago de deuda a Surinam

AW | 2017 12 16 06:16 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

InselAir payment of debt to Suriname

Government of Suriname confirms that InselAir must pay debt before obtaining permission

The issue of the resumption of InselAir flights between Curaçao and Paramaribo is being widely debated in Suriname. According to InselAir, they will resume their operations in the South American country on December 18, 2017.

It was known from several sources that the government of Suriname has assumed the attitude of «let’s wait and see what happens», this because certain ambiguous cases must dissipate first.

On the other hand, it is not only a problem for InselAir but also for the travel agencies that started selling tickets. Travelers are waiting if an InselAir plane will take off from Curacao to Suriname.

The resumption of this route is one of the conditions of the agreement between the airline and the government of Curaçao, together with the loan of 33 million guilders. But in Suriname there is doubt that after six months of not operating in that country, the airline can resume them without problems. The travel agents are waiting for an official announcement from the Government of Suriname before continuing with the sale of tickets for InselAir. A \ W
