The aircraft manufacturer Airbus expects to increase the production rate of the final assembly line of the A320 model in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin to six aircraft per month by the beginning of 2020, the Chinese subsidiary of the multinational announced today.

Currently the so-called Final Assembly Line in Asia of the Airbus 320 (FAL) allows the final assembly of single-aisle A320 family aircraft, including those of the latest A320NEO model, Airbus China said. The productivity of the chain has gradually increased since 2018 to the current rate of five A320 per month. Airbus China in Tianjin has an A330 Family Delivery and Finishing Center, which dispatched the first aircraft in September 2017.

Built in 2008, the mixed investment plant in Tianjin became the first final assembly line of aircraft in an Airbus corridor outside of Europe and the third in the world. In June 2009, he destroyed the first plane for his rollout. Airbus delivered a total of 191 aircraft to Chinese customers last year.

China is Airbus’ largest domestic market, accounting for a quarter of its global sales. There are currently more than 1,750 Airbus aircraft serving the Chinese market.

China is also an important industrial cooperation partner of Airbus. The total value of industrial cooperation between Airbus and the Chinese aviation industry reached 641 million dollars in 2017. «We are hurrying to meet the goal of raising the total value of China-Airbus industrial cooperation to 1 billion of dollars by 2020», said Airbus Commercial Aircraft China operations director François Mery.

China is the second largest civil aviation market in the world and is expected to be the first in mid-2020, according to the International Air Transport Association. A \ W

Preocupaciones mayor accionista Boeing

AW-70067799.pngAW | 2019 06 11 09:34 | INDUSTRY

Boeing-Logo.svgThe main shareholder of The Boeing Company communicates its concern for the line 737 MAX562

The Vanguard Group is the largest shareholder in Boeing (BA), which has expressed concern about the way management is dealing with the Boeing 737 MAX crisis. Vanguard has a 7.1% stake in Boeing, and has said it will continue to interact with the executives and directors of the company about their concerns. In a letter to the aerospace giant, Vanguard said that its fund managers are very concerned about reports of supervisory failures.

The entire Boeing 737 MAX fleet in the world has been grounded worldwide since March 2018 after the fatal accident of Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-302 on March 10, 2019. After the similar accident of flight JT-610 of Lion Air in Indonesia, on October 29, 2018. In the two plane crashes, a total of 346 people died.

Boeing said it continues to «work with global regulators to provide them with the information they need to certify MAX’s update and related training and education material, and for the fleet to return to service safely. maintain their aircraft in storage and provide type support on entry into service once they are authorized to resume commercial operations».

Delays, cancellations

The airlines are attentive to the unfolding of events on the 737 MAX line. Meanwhile, American Airlines extended flight cancellations of the plane ashore. The airline has reported that it is canceling around 115 daily flights from the 737 MAX through September 3, three weeks after the announcement, while operators expect Boeing to send a software solution.

On the other hand, American Airlines is considering placing an order for the Airbus 321XLR model (eXtra Long Range), to replace its old fleet of 34 Boeing 757-200. This would be a blow to the American manufacturer, immersed in a crisis since the global fleet of the Boeing 737 MAX was paralyzed. Airbus developed the A321XLR that has been designed with a modified fuel tank as an evolution of the A321LR, extending the range to more than 9 hours. Specifically, the A321XLR includes an hour and a half more flight autonomy, being able to fly without scales up to 10.3 hours. American Airlines is the largest airline in the world, which currently has a fleet of 963 aircraft, of which 222 are Airbus 321.

Boeing 737 MAX, fly in 4Q2019

The MCAS system of the Boeing 737 MAX that is supposed to avoid blocking seems to have been involved in the accidents of Ethiopian Airlines and Lion Air. Last week, Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg took a bullish stance and said the company is performing simulated flights on the Boeing 737 MAX with the Supervision of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and predicted that the planes on land will return to Fly by the end of the year. However, only a few weeks ago there was hope that the FAA approved in June 2019 the Boeing 737 MAX for flights in the United States.

Boeing says it has completed work on a software solution to ensure that the 737 MAX is safe to fly in the future, but the return of the aircraft to service has been delayed for several weeks, as the company answers questions from the Federal Aviation Administration, which is also under scrutiny for not detecting security flaws before the Boeing 737-8 MAX crashed. longview_as_logo.jpgConcluye traspaso de la venta de Bombardier QSeries a Viking AirBombardier_old.svg.png

Viking Air, crecimiento seguro

Longview Aviation Capital Corp. acquires the QSeries regional aircraft line belonging to Bombardier Inc. from Viking Air. Bombardier concluded the handover to Viking Air of regional turboprop aircraft in a bold move to eastern Canada for the acquisition of the Dash-8 QSeries Program by modifying the Canadian aerospace industry.

The CEO of Viking Air, Dave Curtis, closes a successful agreement with Bombardier Inc. announced in November 2018, to acquire the Dash-8 Program of Bombardier and De Havilland for the amount of around US $ 300 million. «I have lawyers who put the fear of God in me in the process of the Competition Board, who do not want to get ahead of all that. The good news is that we received our authorization certificate from Canada and the United States last week», says Dave Curtis in Victoria, Canada.

Viking Air will have to overcome the last obstacle that remains to ensure that all systems are in place for the Ministry of Transportation of Canada, which will approve all regulations in June 2019.

AW-70008788.pngBOMBARDIER INC. CONTINUED SALES PROCESS OF THE COMMERCIAL LINE

Viking Air, safe growth

Viking Air has flown under public orbit for 50 years of life. The business began in 1970 in Sydney, next to the Victoria International Airport, as a modification shop and aircraft parts. In 1983, De Havilland Canada (DHC) has selected the Viking Air company to be the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of spare parts for its Beaver (Dash-2) and Otter (Dash-3) aircraft, and for 2005, Bombardier (then de Havilland owner) had sold the rights to all DHC planes out of production to Viking Air, from Dash-1 to Dash-7. The Dash-6, also known as the Twin Otter, returns to the production line in February 2010. Since then, nearly 150 Twin Otter aircraft of the 400 Series have made their way through the Viking production facilities in Sydney and Calgary, where there is a final assembly line. The Viking count has increased from 60, when Curtis became CEO in 1991, to almost 700 at present in around 30 countries of the world.

QSeries program

«We are hiring more than 1,000 employees there, in the span of approximately 18 months, we will move from a US $ 300 million company to a US$ 1.5 billion company», says Curtis at Bombardier’s Downsview manufacturing site in Toronto.

Bombardier has tried to revive the de Havilland survivor turboprop program that it had in production, the Dash-8-400, with the Bombardier Q400 name, it still took years to complete the deal. «The complexity of taking the Dash-8 plans out of production and starting the Q400 in production was too complex for Bombardier. So we sit on the sidelines, waiting. I just kept talking to them and saying: ‘If you are ever able to sell the whole program, we would be very interested'», said the CEO of Viking Air.

When Bombardier completed its agreement to sell a majority stake in its CSeries project to Airbus in July 2018, negotiations for the Dash-8 Program began. Viking Air sent a team of 12 people to Montreal to close the deal on 3Q2018. The Viking Air agreement also represents a dramatic change in Canada’s aerospace landscape, which has long been between Toronto and Montreal. Viking Air is taking the challenges ahead, including a labor shortage and a lease in Downsview.

Workload load cuts are affected by the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX

1200px-Spirit_AeroSystems_Logo.svg.pngSpirit AeroSystems workers face reduced hours, a day of workforce reduction due to the impact of the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX line that directly affects the Wichita factory in the State of Kansas.562.jpg

Thousands of employees of Spirit AeroSystems, mostly in Wichita, are scheduled to move to a shorter work week that amounts to a 20% pay cut to reduce costs after the Boeing 737 MAX is grounded. «About 6,000 workers in Wichita and Oklahoma will go to a four-day workweek, while Spirit AeroSystems continues to seek opportunities for cost savings and other ways to increase efficiency in our programs», said spokesman Fred Malley Spirit.

The Wichita plant employs about 12,000 people. Approximately 90% of the affected employees work in the Wichita plant. They include all salaried employees, managers and executives who work in commercial aircraft programs.

The cuts begin on June 21, 2019 and last 10 weeks, until August 29, 2019. They are mandatory, according to a list of questions and answers sent to employees today in the morning Friday, June 7, 2019. But employees in the program strategic defense will not be affected.

Employees who work hourly in Wichita and Oklahoma can take a voluntary personal day and not paid on July 5 to help save costs. «Spiritual leadership recognizes the difficulties these actions will have on our employees and has worked to identify options that minimize the impact on employees and their families as much as possible, Our employees are our greatest asset, and we appreciate your support during this period», said Malley.

The changes in the program are the latest in a series of actions taken by Spirit AeroSystems following the global grounding in March 2019 of the Boeing 737 MAX line due to safety concerns following fatal accidents in Indonesia and Ethiopia. Spirit AeroSystems makes approximately 70% of the assembly of the 737, which includes the fuselage, and the production of those aircraft represented 56% of the company’s revenues in 2018.

In April 2019, Spirit began to reduce overtime and the use of contractors and suspended hiring to replenish open positions. The company is now moving to eliminate all personnel who do not belong to the Spirit, except a dozen who have been authorized to work in a defense program. In May 2019, Spirit allowed salaried employees in Wichita and Oklahoma to take an unpaid personal day to extend the Memorial Day weekend, Malley said, to further help reduce costs.

According to the new four-day work week, employees would choose Monday or Friday as an unpaid day off and receive a payment for a 32-hour work week instead of the typical 40, according to a statement sent Friday by the Society. of Professional Engineering Employees Aerospace, or SPEEA. The professional aerospace workers union represents engineers, technical workers, pilots and other workers in the aerospace industry. The SPEEA contract with Spirit allows a 32-hour work week for up to 10 weeks, according to the statement. Spirit is working with the Kansas Department of Labor to get up to US$ 38 per week in unemployment for workers who will shorten weeks, the SPEEA statement said.

The information sent by Spirit to employees on Friday morning says that the company does not intend at this time to extend the shorter workweeks beyond August 29, but is not sure of the future impact that grounding connections could have. Max. Spirit told employees that he explored many options, including the shorter work weeks, and will continue to do so as the situation evolves with the 737 MAX aircraft. He answered a question about the potential for layoffs by saying that if the situation changes employees will be informed of the impact on the workforce.

«A reduced work week allows us to continue with productivity and be able to quickly increase to meet future tariff requirements», the information says. Spirit also continues to contract externally at a reduced pace so that it can meet production rates in the future, he says.

Most contractors who perform similar jobs to employees represented by SPEEA will leave before the four-day week is implemented, Spirit said. This is not the first time that Spirit employees have had to work a reduced week. Employees also did so during the 2008 Boeing strike and in 2012 after a tornado hit the Spirit plant in Wichita.

AW-70007779.jpgRollout delay for Boeing 777-9

Boeing-Logo.svg.pngBoeing would be delaying the rollout of the new Boeing 777-9 aircraft

The first Boeing 777-9 would be postponing its first flight by the end of June 26, 2019 due to problems with the General Electric GE9X engine. The Sales Director of Boeing, Greg Smith, who says that the GE9X engine, the largest ever built for a civilian aircraft, faces technical difficulties. Engineers and technicians face challenges that try to solve problems through tests. The rumors of internal problems of the engine and in relation to its assembly under the wings are the inconveniences that the American constructor has found. The Product Manager of the GE9X engine, Ted Ingling, explained that the anomaly was a mechanical problem related to the compressor and not an aerodynamic problem that affected its performance: it is too early to know if the problem will affect the flight tests.

TESTING TESTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTRIC GE9X TURBINES

Perspectives of 777-9

Boeing announced a flight test period of at least fourteen months before obtaining certification for airplane folding wing tips. Two 777-9 have come out of the Boeing assembly lines so far, while two others are in the process of joining them. The GE9X made its last test flight under the wing of a 747 last month. Another customer of the 777X, Lufthansa (ordered 20 777-9, the first of which is in FAL), would already be preparing for delays in delivery: it would be ready to keep its 747-400 a little longer. In the Republic of China, the rumor of a request for a hundred Boeing 777X and Boeing 787 has surfaced, to replace the 101 large carriers sold to airlines in the country. The 777-9 would face a diplomatic storm while waiting to learn more about the economic war between the United States and China. Remember that all aircraft orders in the country are announced by the government as the main shareholder.

The aircraft market between Airbus and Boeing are almost tied, but in the case of Boeing, long delays could complicate the order book, as is the case with the Boeing 737 MAX, after cancellations of several airlines. The Boeing CFO, however, reiterated on Wednesday 5 June 2019 that the entry into service of the Boeing 777-9 in 2020 is still being maintained, but this is questioned by several experts who now wait for 4Q2020 or 1Q2021. Mitsubishi compraría Programa CRJ

AW-700Thepointsguy.jpgAW | 2019 06 07 03:23 | INDUSTRY

Corporizando a Mitsubishi

FTA-1_FTA-2_FTA-4_750_1.jpgAERONAVES DE PRUEBA MRJ-90 DE MITSUBISHI AIRCRAFT CORP.

AW-7008-Bombardier.jpgMitsubishi would buy CRJ Program

Mitsubishi Corp is negotiating the purchase of Bombardier’s CRJ Program

Bombardier Inc. is in talks to sell its regional aircraft program Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ) to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. If this sale is completed, Bombardier Inc. would definitively stop direct participation in the manufacture of commercial aircraft.

Both parties confirmed that they were in talks this Wednesday 6 June 2019 that the negotiations were at an advanced stage. Some news could be reconfirmed in the Paris Air Show that begins on June 17, 2019. Mitsubishi has reported that no decision had been made in this regard, while Bombardier said that any agreement would be subject to additional analysis by its own administration and the manufacturer Japanese.

Bombardier, without commercial aviation

A purchase agreement on the part of Mitsubishi of the commercial division of the CRJ Program would culminate with a strategic review in Bombardier of the commercial air lines. The Canadian manufacturer has already relinquished control of its single-aisle aircraft program previously known as CSeries, now under the orbit of Airbus as the A220 Program. Previously, it was released from the QSeries Program with the sale to the company Viking Air Ltd. of Canada of the Longview Aviation Capital Corp. aeronautical group. The current QSeries Program comprises the third level sector of turboprop aircraft Dash 8-Q200/Q300/Q400. By divesting itself of this business unit, Bombardier would focus solely on the manufacture of private aircraft and railroad equipment.

QSeries for Viking Air

At the end of 2018, Bombardier sold its QSeries Program to Longview Aviation Capital valued at US$ 300 million, an agreement announced along with 5,000 job cuts as Bombardier reduced its aviation division. This week, Bombardier closed the sale of its turbo-fuel business to Canada’s Longview Aviation, raising the agreed amount that will allow the coffers of Bombardier Inc. to be oxygenated.

Corporizando to Mitsubishi

Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., based in Tokyo, Japan, would increase its ambitions to promote the manufacture of smaller aircraft, starting to compete with Embraer with the E-135/145/170 line. The aeronautical industry is moving rapidly, especially in the regional sector, which will allow the development of new capabilities and competitors.

CRJ Program

Bombardier launched the CRJ program in 1989 with a 50-seater aircraft called CRJ-100, later versions of which would become the most successful regional aircraft in the world with more than 1,900 jets in service worldwide. The CRJ program paved the way for Bombardier’s raids on other commercial aircraft, including Q400 turboprops and CSeries single-aisle jets designed to challenge Boeing and Airbus.

The CRJ Program includes the CRJ-100/200/700/705/900/1000 models and the new development of the CRJ550, an update of the CRJ-200 and a market positioned between the CRJ-200 and the CRJ-700. Currently, the CRJ Program includes the CRJ700 (up to 78 seats and 1,400nm range), CRJ900 (up to 90 seats and 1,550nm range) and CRJ1000 (up to 104 seats and 1,650nm range), according to Bombardier Commercial Aircraft.

Resultado de imagen para CRJ Mirabel factoryBOMBARDIER’S CRJ-SERIES ASSEMBLY LINE IN MIRABEL, QUEBEC

The Canadian manufacturer once generated most of Bombardier’s revenues. In recent years, Bombardier has not paid attention to commercial programs as it should, focusing on business units of trains and business aircraft that have overtaken regional line aircraft as the main engines of profit for the company and They have generated 81% of sales in 1Q2019.

At the beginning of 2Q2019, Bombardier further consolidated all its aerospace programs in an aviation division, with the CRJ regional jet as the only option in the space of commercial aircraft. There are currently around 1,500 CRJ aircraft in the world in many airlines on five continents. A large portion of the regional commercial aircraft market needs upgrading and the CRJ Program is an impressive assured sales business.

Canadian industry

The Minister of Economic Development, Pierre Fitzgibbon, did not seem worried about the possible transaction between Bombardier and Mitsubishi. «Bombardier is in the midst of a very significant restructuring, and I think we should leave the administration to determine which sectors it considers will continue to be good». the minister said in a round with reporters.

The production of CRJ currently involves two plants in the Montreal area, in St-Laurent and Mirabel. About 750 Bombardier employees in the region work on the program, spokeswoman Nathalie Scott said Wednesday.

Mitsubishi Aircraft Efforts

The efforts of Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp. to build its own regional jet called MRJ-90 and the future MRJ-70. The MRJ-90 Program has been plagued by difficulties after aborted test flights and cost overruns. The program suffered a setback in early 2018 when a US carrier scrapped an order for 40 of the planes. All Nippon Airways of ANA Holdings Inc. is ready to receive the first delivery of the MRJ in mid-2020, according to Mitsubishi Heavy. But a sale of Bombardier to Mitsubishi could be complicated by increasing tensions between Beijing and Ottawa, as China, an important potential market for Mitsubishi, could exercise authority over the approval of the agreement. China has been fighting with Canada since the December arrest of Meng Wanzhou, the Chief Financial Officer of Huawei Technologies Co., in an extradition request from the United States.

In an interesting twist, Bombardier and Mitsubishi have been at odds in lawsuits for information theft in the United States for several months. Bombardier accused Mitsubishi of stealing trade secrets for its MRJ program, while the Japanese conglomerate responded by accusing its Canadian rival of trying to limit competition in the market of aircraft with less than 100 seats.

AW-7000089.jpgIBERIA REGIONAL (AIR NOSTRUM) CRJ-1000 DEPARTING MIRABEL

CRJ Perspectives

The production of CRJ currently involves two plants in the Montreal area, in St-Laurent and Mirabel. About 750 Bombardier employees in the region work on the program, spokeswoman Nathalie Scott said Wednesday. When Bombardier turns its attention to commercial aircraft business trains and aircraft, Mitsubishi is a logical buyer, National Bank analyst Cameron Doerksen told clients.

The Tokyo-based company has its own regional jet program called MRJ that competes directly with the CRJ. But the MRJ has had problems taking off due to problems such as aborted test flights, cost overruns and canceled orders. «The acquisition of Bombardier’s CRJ program would bring with it a large global support network that Mitsubishi could use to support its new aircraft», Doerksen wrote, adding that a large number of former Bombardier employees already work for MRJ.

The business unit of the CRJ Program could generate gross revenues of around US$ 680 million (¥ 73.5 billion) according to Citigroup Inc., which compared the deliveries of the operation and the average price of the aircraft with those of the operation of the Program. QSeries.

For Mitsubishi, an agreement would make it the biggest challenge for Embraer’s commercial aircraft business, which is in the process of a Joint Venture with The Boeing Company and competing against China’s industry with Comac Corp.’s ARJ-21 Program.

With the purchase by Mistubishi of the business unit of the CRJ Program, it would help achieve an objective that the Japanese company has pursued for more than a decade; and on the other hand the completion of Bombardier’s aerocommercial programs. New winds blow in Japan, emerging a new horizon for the Japanese aviation industry. A \ W

logo_airbus (2)Airbus holds 70% low cost airline orders in Latin America

The low-cost model is here to stay in the region, says Airbus President for Latin America, Arturo Barreira, who highlights the jump of this format in the last four years by intensifying the orders of aircraft adapted to this business model from actors of markets such as Chile, Colombia, Peru and Argentina.

Recently, Airbus has opened an office in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to serve the region’s market, allowing us to glimpse the potential market in the future. With 729 aircraft operating in the region, Airbus has a total of 1,183 units committed for the next following years, a scenario in which seven of ten companies that have placed purchase orders are from the low cost segment. «The phenomenon continues to expand, because it is something that is worldwide, since what it does is to reduce prices in a way that stimulates demand», explains the Airbus executive in the framework of the annual meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), on the current stage of this process that began in the middle of the last decade in the large regional markets such as Brazil and Mexico, in which 200 million passengers are transported annually.

AW-7000434400.jpgImproving products

The pressure of low-cost lines has implied that «traditional airlines are changing their business model to be more efficient. Seven years ago it is adapting, from the way they sell, to how they densify their airplanes to be more competitive», said Barreira. For manufacturers, this trend implies greater demands on construction, since both low-cost airlines and traditional airlines are requesting more efficient products.

Airbus put into operation the joint venture signed a year ago with the Canadian group Bombardier to build the A220, short-range aircraft with capacities between 100 and 150 seats. «We have stayed with more than 50% of the program, which will allow us to have an offer of new engines and better comfort,» explained the executive based in Argentina.

A fundamental part of Airbus’ offer for the region has been the development of models of the A320 family, whose characteristics include the configuration with a single aisle and a capacity of between 150 and 240 seats, which allows covering a distance of short and medium range.

Airbus will begin to introduce its A330NEO line, with a renewal of the power plant allowing a saving of 24% in fuel and a greater number of seats to meet the growing demand in the region. The first firm to request units from this last family of aircraft was Azul, a company based in Brazil that a couple of weeks ago received the first of the five models requested with which it will cover routes between that country to Europe and North America, sections that require an operation of between ten and 12 hours. «The world is demanding greater efficiencies to reduce the unit cost, where we are asked to operate the airplane longer and at the same time introduce more seats», said Barreira, who highlights the capacity of ten additional spaces among the new aircraft. Airbus mapea su futuro

Imagen relacionadaAW | 2019 06 02 18:41 | INDUSTRY

Airbus busca nuevos horizontes.

AW-7009-Airbus.jpgAirbus mapping its future

Airbus-logo[1]Airbus Group continues to develop new product policies towards its future

Airbus Group is developing new policies against new products that the world is demanding due to market changes and products offline. For this reason Airbus is coming to the end of an intense program of tests and flight development for new and derived aircraft that began a decade ago with the A380 Program.

In current times the impending gap in the Airbus product development sheet with the cancellation of the colossal A380 Program raises a question to cover market segments in commercial aviation. The same challenge is faced by Boeing with the vacuum generated by the cancellation of the 757 Program.

Airbus seeks new horizons. Observers believe that it will not take long to receive more news about the programs that the European consortium will activate in the face of new challenges and demands from airlines.

A220 Program

AW-70090221.jpgPursuing a more complementary policy between each development unit, Airbus is achieving its objective by acquiring the Bombardier CSeries regional aircraft line, converted to the A220 Program. The recent standardization of the Mirabel assembly line in Canada under the name Airbus Canada will allow to deepen the range of aircraft in the terner level segment.

The progress of the new construction units or assembly lines in Mirabel, State of Quebec, Canada and enMobile, State of Alabama, United States, will strengthen Airbus’ presence not only in America, but in the world with the introduction of the regional model A220. The development of the A220 Program comprises two variants: A220-100 from 108 to 133 seats that made its first flight on September 16, 2013, received the initial type certificate by the Department of Transportation of Canada on December 18, 2015 and entered into service on 15 July 2016 with Swiss Air Lines. The A220-300 from 130 to 160 seats that made its first flight on February 27, 2015, received the initial type certificate on July 11, 2016 and the first entered into service with the launch customer, airBaltic, on December 14, 2016.

The development program of the A220 series comprises a more elongated variant called A220-500 (CSeries CS500) of 135 to 170 seats that will make its first flight in 2019, will enter service in 2019 with Swiss International Air Lines.

It is probably too early for Airbus to move forward with an A220-500 section for some reasons. First, Airbus still needs the A220 Program to be fully established, and the priority must be to address the cost in the supply chain and manufacturing to allow for a reduction in operating costs at the plant. This would then lead to the second point, which is to boost sales and production volumes from Mirabel and Mobile. Only then, once the A220 is firmly established in the market, will Airbus be ready to start thinking about a more elongated derivative. The established reasons will allow to see the new variant between 2021-2022 or later years.

On the other hand there is a subsidiary problem whereby the A220-500 will address a market similar to the A320NEO, which could dissuade Airbus from launching until it is ready to create a next-generation single-aisle family.

A320 Program

The A320 Program is the star of Airbus. The European consortium has established itself with the medium-sized aircraft program comprising the third update A319NEO/A320NEO/A321NEO. Although they are updates of aircraft already built, the program continues its consolidation with a portfolio of exponential orders reaching the 5,995 units ordered.

AW-70022002

The most sought-after development is a derivative of the A321NEO that is capable of exceeding the performance of the Boeing 757 and the new development program the New Mid-Market Aircraft (NMA), more widely known as Boeing 797 proposed by the American manufacturer.

Airbus says it could deliver an extended-range derivative called A321XLR within five years, but it should still formally confirm the status of the project. The Commercial Director of Airbus, Christian Scherer, has hinted at the annual IATA Assembly held in Seoul about the plans for the extended-range versions of the A321 Program, projected to leave the factory between 2023-2024. Airbus is expected to announce the approval of the extended-range version of the A321LR at this month’s Paris air show, backed by customer commitments.

Little has been said publicly about this derivative of the A321LR intended to disrupt Boeing’s efforts to launch NMA. It projects that it will involve a wing upgrade to improve payload/range performance. «It seems very likely that Airbus will commit to the A321XLR at the upcoming Paris Airshow 2019 international fair, with a launch that will take place in Paris in June», says Rob Morris, Global Consulting Director of Ascend by Cirium.

Benefits of the A321XLR

It is believed that the A321XLR incorporates wing and weight improvements to allow it to carry around 220 passengers to more than 4,000 nm (7,410 km). This would allow the aircraft to deliver the current A321LR range with a higher payload that allows something like 220 seats up to 4,000 nm.

The advice of Morris to Airbus is that the next move of Airbus after A321XLR should be to let Boeing take the initiative. «Airbus can probably afford to sit back and wait to see what Boeing is finally doing. The longer Boeing waits to launch NMA, the better Airbus’ competitive response will be. In the short term, Airbus should focus on impeccable execution and delivery of its greatest volumes».

A330 Program

Airbus expects to complete the certification program for the second variant of the A330NEO this year, the A330-800, and is in the final stages of testing the BelugaXL logistics transport based on the A330 Program.

A350 Program

«While there may be the opportunity to stretch further to bring the A350 to the competitive 777-9 territory, the A350-1000 has had a slow sale and any other leg would require more thrust and probably new engines to deliver the required performance. that maybe the market is not ready for any update or expansion of the A350, and maybe even the technology may not be ready yet», says Morris.

AW-7000453800.jpgA380 Program

The decision to complete production of the A380 in 2021 leaves the A350-1000 as the largest Airbus offering. Airbus cites a typical 366-seat mixed cabin capacity, compared to 525-555 seats for the A380, and around 400 seats for the larger Boeing offered, the 777-9X. Then, Airbus could move forward with the proposal to create a larger A350 derivative.

Longer-term prospects could include the expansion of the A220 family after the acquisition of CSeries from Bombardier last year, and/or developments at the upper end of the A350 line to close the gap left by the closure of the A380. Airbus faces a promising future that is currently mapping its destiny with absolute commitment. A \ W

Logo_Airbus_2014.svg - copia.png50th Anniversary of the launch of the Airbus A300

On May 29, 1969, at the Paris Air Show, an historic agreement was signed between the French Transport Minister Jean Chamant and the Minister of Economic Affairs of Germany, Karl Schiller. Airbus Industrie would develop the world’s first wide-body twin-engine passenger plane, the Airbus A300. It was a plane that would launch the European consortium.

History

While the US company Boeing, the world leader, has existed since 1916, its European rival Airbus emerged much later. In the years after World War II, American companies dominated the aviation industry and, in the late 1960s, a consortium of European aerospace manufacturers, then known as Airbus Industrie, came together to develop a challenge.

The Airbus A300

There were a couple of innovations that made this plane special. The wide body and raised floor of the cab meant it could carry passengers and cargo at the same time, allowing airlines to increase profitability.

The wings, designed by Hawker Siddeley, gave the aircraft enough lift to climb faster and reach a cruising altitude level before other passenger aircraft of the time, which gives the cabin crew more time to service. flight.

It could accommodate 270 passengers and, with a range of 1,200 nautical miles, it was designed to serve the short and medium distance market.

Because it had two engines instead of the standard three, it was lighter and more efficient than its contemporary American rivals, such as the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar and the McDonnell DC-10.

Construction of the A300 Colossus

The construction was a pan-European exercise. On May 29, 1969, the Airbus A300 Program was launched. It was the first product of the company in the field of commercial aviation.

The wings were built in the United Kingdom and then transported to Bremen, Germany. To be equipped with moving surfaces. They were then sent to nearby Lemwerder, Germany, where, together with the rear fuselage sections, they flew to the final assembly line in Toulouse, France.

The engines came from the United States, the tail assemblies of Spain, while the central wing and nose box were built in the French cities of San Nazaire and Nantes.

The convoy of assembly line parts attracted curious crowds, an Airbus tradition that would continue for decades, and people came regularly to see how the components of the mammoth A380 arrived.

The A300B was presented to the French public on September 28, 1972 in a joint ceremony with another European plane that was going to make history: the legendary supersonic Concorde.

The A300B made its first flight a month later, in October 1972, landing in strong crosswinds that tested the mettle of the Max Fischl and Bernard Ziegler riders.

The aircraft entered service with Air France in May 1974. Sales were slow at the start, and it was not clear if the European start-up would survive.

Three-engine aircraft remained the industry standard, and there was skepticism about whether two engines could transport passengers safely over long distances.

In 1977, US-based Eastern Airlines introduced the A-300 when it leased four planes for six months. The company ended up buying those ships and ordering an additional 19.

This year, about 4 billion airplane passengers will fly to the sky, and most of them will travel in an Airbus or a Boeing. These two Goliaths have dominated aerospace manufacturing for half a century, and few competitors are approaching. A \ W
