AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

State of Argentina oversees previous management on Aerolíneas Argentinas

The State of Argentina did not approve the management of former CEO Mariano Recalde in Aerolíneas Argentinas for leaving it on the verge of bankruptcy

Presentaci_n_Embraer_190_Austral_009-249efThe Argentine State, the majority partner of Aerolíneas Argentinas/Austral Líneas Aéreas Group, did not approve the management in the 2014 and 2015 periods. The official representatives concluded that the management «placed the company within the causes of dissolution». The legal figure will leave open the door for possible claims to those who led the company. Now it will be the decision of the partners to initiate eventual trials that could end in enormous demands to recover the damages produced by the CEO Mariano Recalde and the Directors Gustavo Sineonoff and Jorge Mateos.

The decision was made today at the headquarters of the airline, along with representatives of partners, the State and employees through the Public Participation Program (PPP), discussed previous balances. the majority rejected the management and approved the balance.

The assembly concluded that the Board «has identified deficiencies in the information and control systems» that prevented the validation of the existence of spare parts and rotable goods. In addition, subsidies were discussed, accounting, losses. The numbers show a net loss for 2015 of AR$ 6487 million pesos, plus a deficit of working capital of AR $ 2,781 million. «All this resulting in a negative net worth that placed the Company in the causes of dissolution», argued the State.

Also it was written in the act of rejection that «the existence of diverse penal causes in which is being investigated acts carried out during the management of the acting societaria administration during the periods under consideration», which allows to deduce to «prima facie» the alleged bribes in the purchase of aircraft E190-100AR from the Brazilian aeronautical constructor Embraer. The shareholders differed in initiating legal actions, but there are claims in terms of salaries that could claim the return of AR$ 940,000 pesos that were withdrawn during the two periods in the form of advance fees.

Article No. 279 of the Companies Law in Argentina establishes «the partners and third parties the possibility of acting against the directors of the company, for the damages suffered in their personal capacity». A \ W

Cancelan proyecto nuevo Aeropuerto Notre-Dame-des-Landes

AW | 2018 02 01 15:48 | AIRPORTS

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Canceled project Notre-Dame-des-Landes Airport

The Notre-Dame-des-Landes Airport Project has been canceled by France

The project of a new Notre-Dame-des-Landes Airport, near the city of Nantes had been studied since 1967 to expand the air traffic of the country and, specifically, of the city of Nantes. According to the promoters, the airport of said city would not support the expected increase in air travel.

The strong opposition to the project since its inception by residents and farmers in the area as well as environmental groups made that from 2007 this movement was transformed with the occupation of the area bounded by a figure of territorial zoning Zone d’Aménagement Différée (ZAD). Since then it was renamed as Zone A Defender.

In 2012 the César Police Operation crashed into the barricades of the ZAD and, in addition to not achieving the eviction, left some military images of police violence that embarrassed the French institutions.

On January 17, 2018, the Government of France announced the official abandonment of the project. «We note that the conditions are not met to carry out the airport project in Notre-Dame-des-Landes. Such a project, which structures the territory for a century, can not be done in such a strong opposition context», declared the Prime Minister, Édouard Philippe.

«It’s the diversity that won», says one peasant who remained in the area despite the expropriations. The movement managed to unite and articulate the different components of the struggle. The solidarity and unity of the French people has succeeded after more than fifty years of struggle to materialize the claim successfully as the great winner of that historic struggle in France.

Reapertura Aeropuerto Sauce Viejo

Resultado de imagen para Aeropuerto Sauce Viejo

AW | 2018 02 01 15:03 | AIRPORTS

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Reopening Sauce Viejo Airport

With a flight of Aerolineas Argentinas Sauce Viejo Airport returned to operate

The Sauce Viejo Airport of the Province of Santa Fe was inoperative for seven months. The reconditioning of the airport prompted an investment by the provincial government of AR $ 240 million pesos in the remodeling works.

A Boeing 737-700 of Aerolíneas Argentinas took off from Aeroparque at 07:25, arriving Thursday at Sauce Viejo Airport at 08:05. In this way, the airport in the city of Santa Fe is reopened.

The remodeling works

At Sauce Viejo Airport, track resurfacing, beaconing and new instrumental landing systems were completed, which took more than 7 months and required an investment of $ 240 million pesos from the provincial government.

Among the works carried out are the repaving of the central runway, complete horizontal signage of the central runway, taxiways and the commercial platform. New beacon system that will allow night operations and the installation of high intensity lights for the precision approach and the identification of the runway threshold. Three systems were installed: meteorological (AWOS) and the PAPIs and TDME systems, together with the change of position of the existing ILS.

The airport closed on June 19, 2017, when the repaving works of the runway began. The term of work was three months, but a series of complications postponed reopening and then followed several weeks of negotiations until the authorization was obtained by the Argentine Air Aviation Company (EANA) and the National Civil Aviation Administration ( ANAC).

«It was delayed by the works that were executed: repaving the runway, new air navigation systems and meteorological. We have an airport for the next decades and now it remains to go out and look for new flights», said José León Garibay, Minister of Infrastructure of the province.

The Director of the Airport, David Giavedoni, specified that the station is operative with the letter of air navigation 3, but that in the next weeks the other four cards will be enabled. At the end of February, the province expects to inaugurate the rest of the works that are being carried out in Sauce Viejo. Among other things, it is necessary to finish the sector of the bar the sector of tapes to transport the luggage.

Pedro Morini, Minister of Public Works of Santa Fe commented that the possibility of buying mobile ramps for the descent and the ascent of the passengers to the airplanes in the Airport of Sauce Viejo and Rosario Airport is analyzed. They have the advantage that they facilitate access for people with reduced mobility and cost 10% of what it is worth to make a «manga», such as those used at the Ezeiza Airport. A \ W

Airbus A321LR completa su primer vuelo

a321neo-acf-roll-out

AW | 2018 01 31 14:58 | INDUSTRY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXTA321neoACF, TSC

Airbus A321LR completes its first flight

The long-range version of the largest and newest Airbus single aisle aircraft the A321LR made its first flight

The initial A321NEO LR (MSN7877) has returned to Hamburg Finkenwerder, to make its maiden flight, with a crew of six people, which took the twinjet over the North Sea to the north of the Dutch coast. The first flight included basic management controls and systems of up to 31,000pies and 300kt before an additional climb to 35,000pies to evaluate high-speed handling, trim and pressurization at M0.78.

The reconfigured version of the A321NEO of 185-230 seats is capable of transporting up to 240 people. It took off from the Airbus factory in Hamburg, in northern Germany, shortly after 11:00 a.m. (1000 GMT) and landed just before 2 p.m. (1300 GMT), witnesses said.

Airbus says the jet is the longest single-aisle aircraft in the world, capable of flying up to 4,000 nautical miles when configured with 206 seats, including flat beds.

That makes him a candidate to replace the long service Boeing 757 that is about to retire. But Boeing is studying proposals to overcome the plane with a new compact double aisle aircraft, designed to serve a larger market of 200 to 270 seats.

Market configuration for the A321NEO

The A321LR will combine a new door configuration for the fuselage of the A321 and the ‘Airbus Cabin Flex’ design that allows the installation of up to 240 seats with the option of three additional central tanks, two aft and one bow, to expand the range. The extra tank stretches the range to about 4,000nm. Typically for operations in this range, the aircraft will be equipped with around 175 seats in two classes, says Roewe. He notes that customers attempting such long-range operations also require features such as larger waste tanks and dehumidification systems. Although structurally manufactured for the maximum takeoff weight configuration of 97t, the MSN7877 has been equipped with only two additional center tanks; the third will be installed in the next few days, says Klaus Roewe, Program Manager of the A320.

Airbus has yet to identify the first customer who will receive the A321LR. But it points to certification in 2Q2018. The initial aircraft, which presents the new configuration of the door, will be delivered mid-year, but the first full A321LR will enter service in 4Q2018.

Airbus aims to simplify the designations for variants under the name A321NEO, since the A321LR will become the building standard for the A321. Roewe says he will «replace» the current A321 by 2019.

The battle for the middle market

It is expected that this year it will be decided whether or not the so-called passenger plane of half the market will be launched.

Airbus has sold more than Boeing in the single-aisle large jets market by a four-to-one margin and says the new A321LR, with an improved takeoff weight of 97 tonnes, will satisfy the demand to replace the elderly 757 and some 767

Boeing says the opportunity extends beyond the 757 replacement market to 270 seat aircraft and would be better served by a brand new aircraft. Meanwhile, it has presented a larger version of its 737 MAX, and last year it sold three more times to Airbus on long-range, high-capacity aircraft.

Boeing officials admit that the A321LR flies further, but they say it depends on three auxiliary fuel tanks that absorb space, instead of one for the Boeing 737-10 MAX in its longer-range version.

In an effort to anticipate the possible launch of a new Boeing jet, Airbus is working on additional improvements for the A321, even when the first test of the A321LR is carried out, industry sources say.

A person familiar with the plans of Airbus expressed last week that he was studying a new increase in the takeoff weight of the A321NEO to 100 tons with the help of adjustments to the existing wing and a stronger undercarriage, which require more thrust of the engine . A second option would include a new lighter and larger wing: something that saves on engine thrust but costs more to develop. Both options would involve stretching the aircraft slightly to accommodate one or two additional rows of seats. A \ W

Modernización Aeropuerto Vilna

AW | 2018 01 31 14:25 | AIRPORTS

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Vilnius Airport Modernization

Vilnius Airport will start modernization of his aerostation

Vilnius Airport will start in February 2018 the modernization of its € 60 million terminal. After completing the reconstruction of the runway in 2017, the Vilnius Airport is moving inwards with the reconstruction of its passenger terminal.

To keep up with the growth that has exceeded capacity at the largest airport in Lithuania, Vilna will begin its reconstruction of the passenger terminal next month. The first phase of the renovation is about to begin for February. According to Olaf Martens, Director of Vilnius Airport, the terminal’s current building, which opened in 2007, has a capacity of 3.5 million passengers per year. However, in 2016 and 2017, passenger traffic grew to almost 3.8 million per year. «That is why the decision was made to carry out the terminal reconstruction After the reconstruction, passengers will be provided with faster and more convenient customer service, as well as an enlarged commercial area. The reconditioned terminal will also provide better working conditions for our employees», said Vilnius Airport Director.

The main air corridor in Lithuania can receive up to 20 thousand passengers per day. Currently, the airport can serve 9.5 thousand passengers per day, in the summer period this amount reaches 14-15 thousand. The next reconstruction will consist of several phases, of which the last one is scheduled to finish in 2021.

The modernization of the terminal will begin with the reconstruction of the sterile area, which will be completed until the end of 2018. Until 2020, the reconstruction of the platform and the taxiway will be carried out along with the transformation of the public transit infrastructure of the airport . The reconstruction of the exit area of the terminal will take place between 2019 and 2021.

Martens said the next reconstruction is the second major step for the modernization of the main country’s air entrance. The first step was the reconstruction of the runway last year, which took 35 days and ended as scheduled on August 18, 2017. The cost of the reconstruction of the airspace is estimated at € 60 million. The upgrade and purchase of the necessary equipment will cost around € 20 million, and the reconstruction of the platform and taxiway € 12 million.

The constantly growing passenger traffic and the number of flights force the Vilnius airport to increase its capacity once again. The first time the airbridge was extended in 1993, when the terminal, built in 1954, was connected to the new passenger departures terminal. The latter could serve 1 million passengers per year. In 2007, the current passenger terminal was opened, which meets the requirements of the Schengen agreement. A \ W

Auditoría OACI en Kazajstán

AW | 2018 01 31 13:39 | AVIATION

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

ICAO audit in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan successfully passes ICAO security audit

Kazakhstan successfully passed a safety audit by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and confirmed a high level of compliance with international standards.

The audit conducted by ICAO is one of the most important objective tools for evaluating the state’s civil aviation security system. «The level of compliance of the Civil Aviation Committee under the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan with the requirements of ICAO officially amounted to 83%, which is 21% better than the 2009 audit indicator, which was 62% The improved indicator of Kazakhstan exceeds by 11 percent the world average level of 72 percent», according to the committee’s message.

The previous 2009 audit consisted of 299 questions, clearly demonstrating the tightening of ICAO requirements. «It has become much more difficult for countries to undergo ICAO audits, and in this regard, Kazakhstan’s high level of evaluation by ICAO experts is becoming even more significant», the message said.

As a result of the 2017 audit, Kazakhstan joined the group of countries that occupy a leading position in the world in terms of aviation security.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Committee announced the launch of a series of international flights in Kazakhstan in 2018. In addition, the committee will carry out 59 certifications and 434 inspections of air transport companies in 2018 in order to control the safety of flights.

The ICAO Audits

The low evaluation of the results of the ICAO audit can generate serious negative consequences, such as restrictions on flights from other countries.

The aviation security audit is a comprehensive control of the airport’s security system. The expert evaluation was carried out on 480 key issues in November 2017. The previous year, ten new international routes were opened, including foreign companies (Finn Air, LOT Polish Airlines, Wizz Air, Air China) in the direction of Warsaw, Budapest, Helsinki, Beijing and Batumi, as well as Kazakhstan airlines to destinations of Xi’an, Kiev, Minvody, Yerevan and Delhi. At the same time, 20 flights per week were added to the current flight in eleven destinations, namely Bishkek, Istanbul, Beijing, London, Seoul, Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg, Omsk, St. Petersburg and Tashkent.

Aviation in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has airports in Shimkent, Atbasar, Karaganda, Kyzyl-Orda, Balkhash, Burundai, Zaisan, Petropavlovsk, Semipalatinsk, Ust-kamenogorsk, Uralsk, Taldy-Kurgan, Kokshetau, Pavlodar, Zhezkazgan, Atyrau, Zhambyl, Zhairem, Ekibastuz, Almaty, Cities of Aktau, Kostanay, Aktyubinsk, Arkalyk and Astana.

The existing airlines of Kazakhstan are Air Astana, MEGA Air Company, Avia Jaynar, Bek Air, Berkut Air, Euro-Asia Air, Excellent Glide, Irtysh-Air, SCAT, Semeyavia, Zhetysu and Zhezkazgan Air. A \ W
