El mercado de aviones Fokker

AW | 2018 01 29 14:49 | INDUSTRY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

The Fokker aircraft market

Despite the bankruptcy of the Fokker company in 1996, there is still a market for Fokker aircraft

The parent company GKN Aerospace, has reported that around 400 Fokker‘s are still flying around the world. In 2017, 39 aircraft changed ownership, compared to 42 in 2016. Users can still go to Fokker in search of spare parts, which makes the aircraft still in demand in some parts of the world. Most of the Fokker 70 and Fokker 100 now fly in Australia.

The number of Fokker planes used with airlines decreased slightly last year. Since the closure of the aircraft factory, the second-hand market has been in full swing, driven by the phasing out of the Fokker 70 at KLM Cityhopper.

In Europe, TUS Airways became a new user of Fokker in Cyprus by buying two Fokker 100 and four Fokker 70, and the latter was purchased from KLM Cityhopper, initiating the farewell of the Fokker fleet, which was replaced by the manufacturing plane Brazilian, Embraer. The ATF based in Woensdrecht withdrew a Fokker 70 from the Antilles and renewed the plane to rent it. The famous PH-KBX, which served as a government aircraft for many years, exchanged the Netherlands for a new life in Australia with Alliance Airlines. Two Fokker 70 went to MWG Limited in Myanmar, which uses the plane on national routes. Bek Air of Kazakhstan added two Fokker 100 to the fleet and LEASCOR in the Philippines took a Fokker 50 into service.

In America, the Mexican Maya Air received two Fokker 50’s. The Suriname airline, Fly AllWays bought additional Fokker 70. Two Fokker 70 and one Fokker 100 have been located to unspecified customers. The Canadian Avmax bought four Fokker 50 that previously flew with Air Iceland and sold three to Africa.

In Africa, Jetways Airlines of Kenya bought four Fokker 50 and one Fokker 70. In addition, six Fokker 50 went to several unlisted companies in East Africa. A \ W

Aerolíneas solicitan licencias en Pakistán

AW | 2018 01 29 13:22 | AIRLINES MARKET

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Airlines request licenses in Pakistan

Five airlines have completed procedures to operate in Pakistan

Some five airlines have applied for the regular public transport air operator license to the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan (CAA) to start commercial operations in the Republic of Pakistan.

The new airlines Askari Air, Air Siyal, Go Green, Liberty Air and Afeef Zara Airways, have applied for the license of air operator taking a market of around 9% per year and probably keep the same pace until 2020 according to the International Association’s forecast. Air transport (IATA).

The new airlines will allow a better competitiveness in the Pakistani market, benefiting users with an improvement in air fares.

Pakistan’s air traffic has shot up to 40% in the last five years to 20 million passengers, and is continuously seeing an upward trend due to the improvement of the law and order situation in the country, which attracts more tourists to the country.

Most new air operators will have faraway destinations and low profitability, including Gwadar, Turbat, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Dalbandin, Zhob (Province of Balochistan), Rawalakot, Skardu, Chitral, Gilgit, Bannu and Parachinar.

For these remote regions, the new operators will bring suitable aircraft for small airports. The arrival of new airlines in Pakistan’s airspace is expected to further increase the challenges of Panamanian national carrier Pakistan International Airlines, which was the only operator on most of these routes in the past. Air India interés adquisición 49%

Imagen relacionadaAW | 2018 01 28 15:33 | AIRLINES MARKET

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Air India interest acquisition 49%

A foreign investor has expressed interest in acquiring 49% of Air India

The Secretary of Aviation, RN Choubey, said that this company has given an «unsolicited expression of interest to the arm of the airline of Air India». While the identity of this investor is not revealed at this time, Singapore Airlines (SIA) is among the foreign airlines that have shown interest in the divestment process of Air India. Qatar Airways is the other large airline that wants to start a domestic airline in India and has long wanted to acquire a stake in IndiGo. Incidentally, IndiGo has given a formal expression of interest to the airline branch of Air India, especially the international operations of Air India and Air India Express.

The new investor is likely to be an airline, as the government of India allowed foreign airlines to invest up to 49% in Air India, paving the way for Indian players to join foreign airlines to bid for it. «Foreign airlines can also invest up to 49% on the government’s approval route at Amnesty International, and the ownership and substantial control (SOEC) of Air India will remain the property of Indian National. Foreign (s) in AI, including foreign airlines will not exceed 49%, neither directly nor indirectly», the government said in a statement on January 10, 2018.

This decision eliminated the confusion caused by a consolidated foreign direct investment (FDI) policy launched last August that said that, although foreign operators can hold up to 49% participation in Indian carriers, this «was not applicable» to AI . The SOEC clause means that foreign airlines have up to 49% stake in an Indian JV operator with an Indian partner that has at least a 51% stake in it. This model is followed by the two Tata JV airlines, where Singapore Airlines and AirAsia Berhad have a 49% stake in Vistara and AirAsia India, respectively.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) says that the SOEC of an airline must be with the nationals of a country if that airline wishes to fly out of that country. The issue of SOEC being with the Indians arises twice -expelling licenses and then granting bilateral rights that India has- to its airline for flying abroad. A \ W

Single African Air Transport Market

AW | 2018 01 28 15:07 | AIRLINES ALLIANCE / AVIATION

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Single African Air Transport Market

Twenty-three African states launch a single aviation market

The Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) is a new association of 23 African states that have launched a single aviation market to boost connectivity, improve rates and stimulate economic growth.

SAATM is an emblematic project of the 2063 Agenda of the African Union (AU), an initiative of the African Union to create a single unified air transport market in Africa, the liberalization of civil aviation in Africa and as a boost to the agenda of economic integration of the African continent.

Mercado único de transporte aéreo africano

The African Union of 55 members presented the first phase of the African Single Market for Air Transport, after three decades of the first initial project. Airline executives and industry analysts welcomed the new air partnership, highlighting the commitment needed to create true open skies in Africa, considered a continent with more expensive services, scarce infrastructure and poor connections.

Africa accounts for around 15% of the world’s population, but only 3% of global air traffic, according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a UN agency.

«The continent is besieged by government-owned airlines, incredibly inefficient state arms that are not really fit for commercial purposes and the traveling public suffers as a result», said Tim Coombs, executive director of Aviation Economics, a consultancy with headquarters in London. The connectivity between some nations is so poor that the easiest way to travel from one country to another is usually to fly across Europe or the Middle East.

David Kajange, head of the UA’s transport and tourism division and one of the architects of the single market, said: «The cost-benefit analysis of protecting a few jobs compared to the total economic benefits of opening simply does not It’s there, Aviation is a luxury product in Africa, but in the United States and Europe, anyone can go anywhere during a weekend, that’s what we want here».

A 2015 study commissioned by the African Civil Aviation Commission and the International Air Transport Association, a trade body of nearly 300 airlines, estimated that the total liberalization of the sector among 12 of the continent’s largest economies would add $ 1.3bn to its production. economic, and generate 155,000 new jobs and tariff reductions of up to 35 percent.

Kajange said he expected rates to fall by as much as 30 percent over time, particularly when airlines became free to expand routes between second and third tier cities. «We have realized that if you liberalize you create the commercial conditions for investors to exploit those opportunities, secondary markets,» he said.

The new market dates back to 1988, when some African countries agreed to liberalize the aviation sector. This was formalized in the 1999 Yamoussoukro Decision, in which 44 states agreed to begin liberalizing air transport, but it has never been implemented until now.

Nico Bezuidenhout, executive director of Fastjet, a London-based airline operating in southern Africa, said: «In an African regulatory context [the new market] is a seismic event, but one should not pretend that African aviation exists in this unique dimension, there is a broader context».

For the single market to succeed, the remaining members of the AU must join, more investment is needed from airports and airlines, security must be improved, and harmonized and increased standards for civil aviation supervision added.

Raphael Kuuchi, IATA vice president for Africa, welcomed the new single market as transcendental. But he emphasized that the «benefits of a connected continent will only be realized through effective implementation».

UA officials expect travelers to begin seeing tangible benefits in approximately six months. A \ W
