New York-based JetBlue Airways established its maiden flight between New York/JFK and London/Gatwick this Thursday 01/10. The new transatlantic service had been planned since the spring of 2019, when JetBlue made its plans public, the airline said it would begin service in 2021. The inaugural flight B6-043 took off at 07:50 p.m. from New York/JFK arriving in London/LGW 07:55 (+1). The return London/LGW to New York/JFK B6-044 at 12:10 pm. arriving in New York/JFK 03:33 p.m.

In August 2021 JetBlue disembarked at London Heathrow/LHR marking a milestone in its history as the company’s first transatlantic flight. Now, the company incorporates a new transatlantic destination to expand the company’s capabilities.

JetBlue had proposed to start the Boston-London route, but the service has been changed to New York/JFK—London/LGW the service would only start from New York, with Boston postponed to 2022. The American budget airline would fork with its services ocean liners at Headrow and Gatwick. Both airports serve different needs. Generally speaking, it is Heathrow/LHR that has the main flagship airlines and links around the world, making it a crucial link for any airline looking to secure demand for business travel to London. Gatwick/LGW is more leisure-oriented and serves as the home airport for ultra-low-cost carrier EasyJet.

JetBlue Airways has deployed a mission-specific Airbus A321LR for its maiden flight on its flights to London/Gatwick. Unlike almost all other offerings to London, these are narrow-body aircraft, but they have the capacity for the transatlantic route. The A321LR fleet features 24 business class Mint 22 Suites seats, in a 1-1 configuration, while you can find similar seats some aircraft in the A321NEO fleet. The main cabin features 24 Even More Space seats and 90 Core seats, all in a standard 3-3 layout. Like the A321NEO, the seats are solid and comfortable.

“With a 500% increase in UK bookings following news of the easing of US entry requirements for international travelers, it is clear that there is significant pent-up demand for travel between our two countries and that our Gatwick launch it is timely to satisfy the growing number of customers returning to heaven. JetBlue’s new Gatwick service -complemented by our recently launched flights at Heathrow- presents an entirely new option for travelers, who won’t have to choose between an attractive fare and great service while meeting both family, friends and colleagues. sides of the Atlantic”, said Joanna Geraghty, President and Chief Operating Officer of JetBlue Airways.

By summer 2022, JetBlue Airways plans to start transatlantic operations from Boston/BOS with flights to London at Heathrow (LHR) and Gatwick (LGW) airports, which will stimulate competition on transatlantic routes with the reopening at the post-pandemic.

FAA software tráfico aeropuertos

AW | 2021 09 28 20:17 | AIRPORTS / AVIATION ORGANISMS / GOVERNMENT

FAA USA to implement software to reduce airport delays

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said Tuesday 09/28 that it plans to implement a new software capability to reduce taxi times and flight ramp congestion at twenty-seven airports.

The FAA and NASA said the new software was tested for four years that calculates gate setbacks at busy hub airports so that each plane can taxi directly to the runway and take off. When implemented, the FAA said it anticipates saving more than 7 million gallons of fuel annually and eliminating more than 75,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

Piden reapertura aérea en Argentina

AW | 2021 09 24 14:37 | AIRLINES MARKET / GOVERNMENT

They ask for air reopening in Argentina

Request elimination of quotas for air travel

The new flexibility scheme announced by the Government of Argentina makes it possible to advance towards a greater but very limited market share for airlines that continue to request the end of entry quotas to the country and open all airports after the new measures. At the end of September 2021, the Argentine airlines request the Government to allow more details and a total reopening of the air borders.

As of October 1, 2021, Argentina will be able to receive foreign tourists from neighboring countries and as of 11/01, international passengers from all over the globe will be able to do so. The package of sanitary measures that the Government ordered establishes that from the beginning of next month the entry quota of people will be progressively increased, which is currently set at 2,300 daily passengers, while there is still no knowledge about the methodologies to be implemented. these increases.

The Executive Director of the Chamber of Air Companies in Argentina (Jurca), Felipe Baravalle, has expressed about the expectations and wishes of the airlines that operate in the country, he has expressed that they hope to return to operate as normally as possible «with no quota of daily passengers, approvals for all flights for the upcoming summer season, eliminating the separation of flights arriving in Ezeiza and no longer restricting the airline frequencies of the companies. The Government announced that they will allow the entry of foreigners who present a negative PCR done before their trip, a complete vaccination schedule completed fourteen (14) days before arrival, an antigen detection test upon arrival and a second PCR test between the fifth and on the seventh day, I believe that they are sufficient protocols for it to be decided to eliminate the quota once and for all”.

The airlines also continue to request greater predictability in the frequency quotas, which would allow to establish reasonable parameters of flight scheduling in each airline to cover the sales of their seats. All agreed that the national government announces its official decisions about the time, in a sector that absolutely requires organizing in advance for its proper functioning. Month after month, the Government approves the scheduling of airline flights with lax and ineffective criteria. «Today we do not have the October flights approved and in view of the new announcements we hope to have new administrative decisions that are clear and simplify the operation, in order to give the predictability that headquarters companies require so much to assign their aircraft, crews and define their offer. of tickets for the summer season. In the same way, passengers need to know that meeting the requirements ensures their trip and will be able to move within Argentina comfortably and without unforeseen events”, expressed Felipe Baravalle.

The international airlines that work in the country observe that they observe incongruities of the Government in the applications of taxes that restrict the liquidity margins. “On the one hand, it is difficult to explain to the parent companies that to their losses, they must add the costs of the taxes that are collected by order and account of the State, 30% of PAIS tax plus 35% of perception. This represents a huge weight for them, in an industry that before the pandemic had profit margins of between 3% and 4% in a good year. Two years ago, the Government has been asked to correct this situation, but a solution has not yet appeared. On the other hand, seeing that today a large number of countries open their borders, scarce resources will be concentrated in those destinations that do not represent an economic loss for companies. In that sense, any incentive to reduce the costs of operating in the country would help to increase the chances of bringing in more travelers and help to reactivate all activities related to this industry, hotels, gastronomy, transportation, tourism, among others. Today Argentina has high costs for airlines and geographically we are not a country that is close to the rest of the world”, concluded the Executive Director of JURCA.

Airbus reveals CityAirbus

Next generation passenger transport helicopters

Airbus Group announced plans for a new CityAirbus on September 21, 2021 at the first Airbus Summit on “Pioneers in Sustainable Aerospace” as the emerging urban air mobility (UAM) market begins to consolidate. Ushering in the next generation of CityAirbus, the fully electric vehicle is equipped with fixed wings, a V-shaped tail, and eight electrically driven propellers as part of its uniquely designed distributed system propulsion. It is designed to carry up to four passengers on a zero-emission flight in multiple applications.

“We are on a quest to co-create an entirely new market that sustainably integrates urban air mobility in cities while addressing environmental and social concerns. Airbus is convinced that the real challenges are as much about urban integration, public acceptance and automated air traffic management, as they are about vehicle technology and business models. We leverage all capabilities to offer a safe, sustainable and fully integrated service to society”, said Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters.

CityAirbus is being developed to fly with a range of 80 km and reach a cruising speed of 120 km / h, making it perfectly suitable for operations in major cities for a variety of missions. Sound levels are a key factor for an urban mission; Airbus’ extensive experience in noise-friendly designs is driving CityAirbus sound levels below 6 5 dB (A) during the flyby and below 70 dB (A) during landing. It is optimized for hover and cruise efficiency, while requiring no moving surfaces or inclined parts during the transition. The CityAirbus NextGen meets the highest certification standards (EASA SC-VTOL upgraded category). Designed with simplicity in mind, CityAirbus NextGen will deliver best-in-class economic performance in operations and support.

Airbus benefits from years of research, innovation, two electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) demonstrators and sound technology development across its entire product portfolio, as well as decades of experience in aircraft certification. The Vahana and CityAirbus demonstrators have jointly conducted 242 flight and ground tests and have flown around 1,000 km in total. In addition, Airbus has used extensive subscale flight tests and wind tunnel campaigns and harnessed its computational and modeling power. CityAirbus NextGen is in a detailed design phase at the moment and the first flight of the prototype is planned for 2023.

“We have learned a lot from the test campaigns with our two protesters, CityAirbus and Vahana. The CityAirbus NextGen combines the best of both worlds with new architecture that strikes the right balance between hover and forward. The prototype is paving the way for certification scheduled for 2025”, Bruno Even said.

Procesos contra Jefe Pilotos Boeing

AW | 2021 09 18 17:22 | AIR INVESTIGATION / AVIATION SAFETY

Iniciarán cargos contra Jefe Pilotos Boeing
Fiscales Federales acusación penal proceso caso 737 MAX
Primer empleado procesado por cargos penales

AW-Seal United States Department Justice_Isologotype

Criminal proceedings against Chief Boeing Pilots

Charges to be filed against Chief Boeing Pilots
Federal prosecutors criminal prosecution case 737 MAX
First employee prosecuted on criminal charges

US Federal investigators are close to accusing former pilot Mark Forkner of The Boeing Company of misleading the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about problems related to two fatal Boeing 737 MAX crashes. Mark Forkner, who was the chief technical pilot of the company’s Boeing 737 MAX line when the aircraft was developed, would be the first Boeing employee to be prosecuted for the failures of the fourth-generation 737. The Chief Pilot, not currently with the company, had been the company’s contact person for federal regulators on pilot training to fly the new aircraft. Attorneys for Mark Forkner, Boeing and the Justice Department had no comment. Mark Forkner’s attorney has said in the past that his client would never do anything to endanger anyone on the plane.

Criminal process

Possible charges were not well defined. An investigation by the US House of Representatives found that Mark Forkner persuaded the FAA to keep the details of a new Flight Control System out of pilot manuals for the 737 MAX. Investigators have said that the automated Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) sent the two Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft to experience difficulties in maintaining flight, causing their dive with fatal de-classes. The system was designed not to activate often, but that changed during development, as Boeing gave it more control and increased the scenarios in which it would be used. An agreement between Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration said the company and its employees «intentionally withheld and withheld information about the change».

Another former Boeing pilot who worked with regulators is also under investigation. The settlement agreement said employees had chatted with each other that they felt pressure to get FAA approval for pilot training that could be completed in just hours on a tablet or computer. The model was formally certified in 2017. Boeing agreed to pay nearly US$ 255 million in the settlement, plus compensation to the airlines and families of those killed in the two accidents.
